  1. Harby 8 seems likely to take a downward trajectory now that people realize there is a market for 9.8 Unity issues. There's never been any real heat on the Unity issues themselves, only the pre-Unity ones (like issue 6). By the time Unity came out the entire line was being over-ordered so these books are out there and in quantity. Guess we'll see.
  2. ya nothing subtle at all going on here The open mouth thing is a super hot look apparently...
  3. Stinky's in Massapequa used to share space with the sword shop, so you had swords and knives on the right and comics on the left! Tor Comics in Holtsville, law offices in front, comic book shop in back.
  4. These local auction houses get some crazy buyers sometimes. Local people with a lot of money who are happy to buy whatever is in front of them. I recall going to several auctions at Phil Weiss's here on Long Island and the hammer prices were pretty far out there sometimes.
  5. Here is the last update, settlement reached apparently. Kudos to MZ for taking it on in the first place! More than most in his shoes would've done.
  6. Cheating a bit with this one, I know, as it's an interior cover - a frontpiece! By none other than Mike Zeck, vintage too from 1978!
  7. Decided to read my copy after seeing this scan the other day. Some pretty adult circumstances being acted out through these 12-15 year old kids!
  8. Still there last I knew. Jeff the owner is very knowledgeable about the hobby.
  9. My old LCS had dozens of Silver and Bronze books on display that were eventually washed out due to the florescent lighting. He had them lined up on a high shelf and some over-lapped, so there were parts of some covers that were still in full color! They sat there for 10 years probably or more, until the lease was up and they moved to a new spot and took them all down. He didn't put them up at the new location, not sure what happened to them.
  10. I stopped in at a permanent indoor flea market near me that has collectibles in the mezzanine area. Every comic bagged and boarded and arranged alphabetically, which was nice. Every comic had a price tag however and they started at $5 no matter what it was. I also cruised through an indoor flea market at a local Knights of Columbus. Apparently this is where the outdoor flea vendors at the local railroad parking lot show held on Sundays in the summer/fall months go during the wintertime. I found some pre-unity Valiants at 2/$1, but it wasn't any of the good pre-unity issues unfortunately. Oh well.
  11. Maybe you could deign to address the legitimate concerns of the other Boardie, your highness. A Boardie who bought a half dozen books from the sales thread to boot. AtlasFan, you sold it as unrestored. It wasn't. Take a return, refund the purchase price, and sell it again.
  12. Poor Stan, old people always getting ripped off!
  13. Orangecrush, you sound like someone who has battered spouse syndrome. Why do you keep going back to Aspen when they keep mistreating you so?!
  14. Finally caught this on cable this week. I thought it was excellent, and my wife loved little X-23, who she called a tough little person_without_enough_empathy!
  15. I have told my wife several times that after I die she should have a garage sale and price them all at $1 each. Pass along the fun I have experienced buying ridiculously cheap comics in the wild! The life insurance is more than enough that she won't have to worry about liquidating a bunch of comics. I'm a firm believer that if more than say 5% of your net worth is tied up in collectibles, you're doing it wrong. But to each his own.
  16. Share your funny, strange, etc. eBay stories. Here are a few recent ones; Mailed a comic out in my usual cardboard sandwich, received a note from the buyer - Hi, I received the parcel, and I separated the pieces of cardboard, but there's no book inside. Me - check the two halves of cardboard again, it's in one of them. Buyer - Oh, there it is. I guess I didn't split it in the center, thanks! Mailed out a set of comics, two comics per bag and board which is my usual shipping method. Buyer - Hi, I received the parcel but I only got issues 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9; Me - check the backs of the comic bags for the even ones. Buyer - all good, thanks. I've never seen anyone do it that way before!
  17. My "in" for a pass didn't get back to me. So much for that.
  18. And now this weekend is the ACE Comic Con at the Nassau Coliseum. Maybe that's the one sponsored by the guy who got 'arrested'. I don't recall. In any event, they want $55/day for general admission to this one, so that's not really a starter for me either.
