  1. i think 190 is the singlest toughest high grade early HOM.
  2. Yowtch! it, like 190 is tough in NM, but that seems high. I guess the waters are being tested to see how high they can go without hitting resistance. i guess that wasn't it!
  3. i am not so concerned about competition. I just love the comics and want to share as much knowledge as i can. For instance, i just found out tonight that the 1st appearance of Lucien (the host who became sandman's librarian thanks to gaiman) is not tales of ghost castle #1, but Weird Mystery Tales #18. That horrible Chua cover of a sea monster hides a gem! There is a 1 page story in which the current host Eve tries to buy the newest issue of WMT & they are all sold out. She runs into Lucien, who introduces himself. It ends with a Don't miss his first issue tagline at the bottom. Who Knew?
  4. nice finds Rip, that a NICE book for $6! The last issue of Sinister house tends to be a little tricker than the rest, save for #5, so i wouldn't be too down about that either. Love the 287!
  5. so Rip, what was the bronze horror like at the show. Was there much? High Grades, Low grades, cheap, expensive? Notice any Charltons?
  6. no greggy...make sure you have multiples of all the 100 pagers first...... My extras right nbow for those #'s i have 290 in fine+ I have 265 in VG and 267 in Fine My personal copies of each are Fine+, VFNM, VF/NM and they are issues i really search for....
  7. i don't wish that they were undervalued, but i think its true. Especially when you leave the already touted earlier books. HOM#236,256,265,290 those are WAAAAAYYYY rediculous! i have been collecting these of and on since 1986. I sold almost everything in 1994 or so, then focused on precode horror and didn't get back into these until 1999 or so. In all that time, barring the 5 year period when i didn't go after them too much, i have NEVER seen a NM #290. I know they are out there, but come on, it shouldn't be that hard for a book from 1981! Even back in the day my best 236 was a VG. I have a VF+, a VF & a VG now because i search everywhere for that book. (There is a VG on ebay right now actually). It shouldn't be that hard. Doug Sulipa said its one of the toughest issues for him to keep in stock. Ghosts #63 & 66 are 2 more examples, they just NEVER turn up for sale. Weird War #68, 93 and some others are all really tough, yet #93 guides at $6 or so. #68 is only where it is for the miller art, but its tough regardless. HOS #151 isn't broken out in guide, yet its Kaluta, Golden, Suydam and impossible to find. I guess this is the time to find them, the silence can't last forever....
  8. thats ok, gives me more of a chance ot get more!
  9. hey rahigh, does that PS#4 have adams art cover to cover, or partial or inks or what? I never had one of those and am curious how it looks inside.
  10. yes the hos100 deserves the "classic" notation overstreet gives it. It is one of my favorites as well. I think they miss the boat giving classic to hom231 because 236 is far superior (and that my favorite wrightson HOM, with 207 right behind, because that was MY first older issue as a kid and its a great image )
  11. my all time fav PS too! My copy is pretty lousy though. Yours looks great!
  12. #7 & #9 can be hard i have found in HG as well. I basically still have to get the covers that just didn't do it for me, they waited until the end. I think i need about 40-50 more comics to have all the dc horror 1968-1983. There are a few weird wars & ghosts that i am having some trouble with, the rest just tend to be ones i have not picked up yet. Maybe i should start an Ian-esque thread..... well Greggy, next time we get a deal rolling, i would not mind a digest if you have any kicking around....
  13. holy craaap, that digest is tough! I can't get enough of the Jones cover on #3. That run has some real nice covers and some of the worst. i still need to pick up a few of them.
