  1. We will be having the same discussion about X-Force 2 when that one continues to go up and up. If a X-Force 2 CGC 9.8 hits $200 then we will really see a new high of books submitted for a book. Think about how many X-Force 2s are sitting in long boxes in the world.

I bought 7 copies at the small show without a hesitation. It was from $1 bin and showed him all copies. He asked five dollars that saved me $2. That was last Saturday.

I checked all to see what condition they are in. Surprisedly they are unread mint condition. I will submit them and expect 9.8s. I would make $1400 easily.

    I will include NM #98.

Nice timing for me before the bubble bursts but I don't see that will come soon.

  2. Yesterday, I picked them up at the small comic convention.

Paid for only $5. Asked him if he was aware of NM #98. He was not surprised at all and told me that he was selling the remaining long boxes before he will retire. He didn't care about them.

He showed me the pictures of himself holding Tec #27 and #35. Oh holy cow! He has #1 to #35. Asked him if he is going to sell his Tec collection. He will but doesn't know when. Cool humble guy!

I checked every book. They are unread and MINTY!!!

    Dupage?

 Did I miss you there? Frankly yes. Next ones are in January here and in February in Milwaukee.

  4. Anybody know the scoop on the Church OAAW#83, if there is such a thing? No reported pedigree sales at all on GPA

I'm unaware of any DC war books amongst the Church collection. There WERE comics that Church purchased as late as 1962 (and a few later?), but the runs petered out quite a bit by the mid-50s as I recall. . .and I don't know of a single Church copy of ANY DC war book much less an OAAW 83.

That WOULD be cool, though, if it DID exist.

Edgar Church passed away in 1978. Chuck Rozanski purchased his entire collection from his children who had little knowledge in the comic books but wanted his house to be sold immediately before the value went down due to the ethical people moving in his old neighborhood.

Edgar was 90 years old and was probably in a caring home. He was too old to tell his children about his collection.

He collected the comic book in 1930's until 1950's. OAAW #83 was printed in 1959. I doubt that he collected the war comics not even EC Comics. He may be a religious person. Who knows. You can always ask Chuck. He was slowly selling the entire collection one by one for ten years. I am sure that he may remember most of it.

  5. Does a copy of OAAW 83 from any pedigree exist? I'm not aware of one.

Yes, Salida. It's certainly possible that there was a Bethlehem copy.

    What grade is the Salida?

Maybe Oakland and Mass Pedigrees. They used to collect many war issues but I think they collected them in late 60's. OAAW 83 was printed in 1959.

  6. Alibaba is the world's biggest IPO, and looks like it will open around $90/share.

As an investment, would you rather have 100 shares of Alibaba or,say, a lower grade Amazing Fantasy 15?

I take Disney stock long-term over them. Disney has been very good to me! :cloud9:

    +1

I'm at +168% return on my Disney stock. That plus the dividend.

I love trading stock. But I only go for long term investment. Always look at dividend. Stocks with no dividend is a no go for me. (Of course look at other stuff too)

Just bought some SEAS stock. The massive drop is a dream for long term investment. Dividend over 4% and the stock will adjust upwards in a couple of months. (I could be wrong, but that's the risk. Even if I think minimum risk on this one.)

With Disney owning Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and ESPN the future looks good. (thumbs u

What is the name of the stock that Disney owns? I prefer this one over Alibaba.

  7. I checked the first post on this thread. There was usually 100+ business days turnaroud. The few last posts showed 40 to 60 business days turnaround during the high peak this year. The first post was back in 2012. It shows little improvement on the time management. I think CGC still needs hiring more people to speed up the process.

Maybe they need two teams. One team will be at the show while other team stay at the building in Sarasota. It will never delay on all turnarounds again. I have only one book that was mailed recently to my dealer. Wait until the high seasonal is over then I will send my books in November. I don't have to wait or keep checking on my order status.

Graders do not go to most shows unless it is on-site grading.

CSRs being away doesn't help what you want.

The graders are going to the shows too. I talked with the leader at the show last April.

The half stays and other half go.

Yup that is correct at the upcoming Pittsburgh show next weekend half the graders will be there. :screwy:

I think there are only four grading onsite this year: Mega Con (Florida), Philadelphia, Chicago and Baltimore. Chicago is the only one that has four day show. The cutoff is Saturday early afternoon. The rest are lasting only three days. I think the cutoff is Friday night so no one can pick up their books after the cutoff.

    Pretty pressure upon the graders.

I always thought it made more sense to have two teams. "A" team will go to the show. "B" team will stay at CGC building. Next show, "B" will go there while "A" team stays. All turnarounds will never be delayed. Paying the fast track fee is nonsense.

  10. I strayed from the comicspriceguide.com boards when people started getting too silly, and the people here worshipped me instantly, so I felt guilty leaving.

You are not alone. I had the same reason and didn't look back. Gladly I did. Thanks for reminding me how I ended up here ever since. That banner ad led me here. Thanks CGC.

You copied and pasted the "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards"? hm

An image always needs to be between the code and it needs to end in ".jpg", ".bmp", ".png" or ".gif" for it to work.

You might have just used the "URL for E-Mail & IM".

Will it work on PC or Mac?

    That is a N00B question!
