  1. Donny Cates will be at C2E2 at the AFTERSHOCK booth signing on Sunday
  2. Read issue #2 today and just have to say that this just keeps getting better. The watercolors really help to add a melancholy to the dialogue. I've been following Matt for quite a while and his writing just keeps getting better at making you think, feel or root for his characters and their respective situations. Too bad he's not making it to C2E2 this year, would've liked to get my books signed.
  3. I've been wondering why no one is talking about this book! Maybe now everyone will notice....
  4. Even though they were polybagged and boarded from the get go, these books were a bear to find without some dings. I tested the patience of the fine folks in the Graphitti booth searching for some decent spines!
  5. Has anyone received their badges yet? I'm asking because they somehow had the wrong address on file for me.
  6. LETTERS! You had LETTERS??? We had to use Smoke Signals or Drums!!!
  7. It is personal. Telling me I'm FOS? Yep. Personal. Now, critiquing my books, my work, the art? I don't take that personally. I learned the first time a book I worked months on got crushed in a review. It stung my ego. Sure. But - attack me as a person, especially with ZERO knowledge of what you're accusing me of or the circumstance and stakes involved? Personal. And I don't go for the "it's just the internet". That excuses their behavior. I do go in for human decency, decorum, debate and discussion. Thank you for coming on the boards and talking with us Tim. I always look forward to hearing from you. It's a shame so many people on these boards get upset when a book doesn't meet their timeline with flipping. I for one am glad I've been along for the ride since the start and have no intention of jumping ship anytime soon. +1 Also looking forward to ECCC
  8. UPDATE: I let them know I'm not a retailer. Also that I do take advantage of their discount on #1 issues and order dupes of artists/writers I like. Here's the response I get... Thank you for your replay! Due to the quantity of items on your order, this is still not considered a single consumer purchase so, going forward, your packages will be charged actual shipping to your location. Thank you for your business! Please let us know if you have any questions. In short, they weren't really interested in my response since they've unilaterally decided that they're changing my shipping charge.... FYI, my orders are primarily indie titles. All-Star Batman #1 was the last big 2 title I ordered since I'm a big fan of Snyder.
  9. Like I stated, I'm not ordering much and have my setting at shipping once a month. ( what retailer would be able to survive on that setting?) If they don't want people to order multiples, why do they always offer their best discount for the first 5 books of any new title? Also, like most collectors, I always order 2 of the books I like...one to read and one for the longbox.
  10. Anyone else get this email? I do order dupes but only average about $100/month in books. Hello, Based on your order containing multiple items, what platform are you selling your multiple copies on? We only ask because our contract with Diamond prohibits us from selling to retailers. Because we are a single consumer retailer, we create our prices to benefit the average customer. Because you are reselling product you are purchasing through our discounted service, this puts your account outside of that norm. Going forward, any order you place with us will incur actual shipping costs. If you take a look at our FAQ page, your will note we have a section for our policies regarding retailers and resellers: Do you sell to retailers, re-sellers, speculators, or buying clubs? DCBS does not sell to retailers, because we are prohibited from doing so in our contract with our distributor. This includes storefronts, websites, and pop-up storefronts. A retailer is defined as a business operating a website selling comics or operating a brick and mortar location that sells comics. Any platform used to sell product in multiple quantities from a physical location or a unique URL falls under this definition. A unique URL includes a social media page defining itself as a business, but does not include an eBay account. DCBS is a retailer selling to individual customers. Our flat rate shipping and discounts are based on a single consumer purchase. Customers selling on eBay, Amazon, or other auction sites, that are not eligible for a Diamond account, may place orders with our approval. Those customer orders are not eligible for flat rate shipping and are subject to actual shipping costs. Orders that contain multiple quantities of more than a quantity of 2 are clearly orders for resale, speculation, or group purchase, and are also not eligible for flat rate shipping and are subject to actual shipping costs. Those accounts will be noted accordingly. Thank you for your business! Please let us know if you have any questions.
  11. why do so many people get confused, (or in past cases extremely butt hurt) in this thread, whenever an actual discussion occurs. It is not the "books for cheerleading thread" If the thread is called, "books that are heating up", then people should discuss whether or not a book is heating up or not. When so many people post books which are clearly NOT heating up, but which they either want to heat up, or others have told them are going to heat up, they should not be surprised, or shocked, or offended, that people might actually question saying: "are you sure thats heating up?" "here are some sales that seem to point otherwise". Ultimately, its either a dont ask dont tell thread, where people only cheerlead for books to go up up and away, or its a discussion thread about what is heating up, and that involves both sides of the discussion, for the books that are mentioned. Lastly, i wasnt scrutinizing the book, though legitimately curious WHY it was brought up in this thread (where it clearly does not belong). If you don't want to respond to my posts, don't. Please don't edit my posts down to the point of using them as a launchpad for your next monologue. Thanks in advance. Chopping someone's post up like that and then using to make some "insightful" observation is just plain lame . As a clarification on internet rules: if someone makes multiple points in a post, how does someone responding know which points they're allowed to respond to?
  12. I ordered quite a few then they cancelled my order thru DCBS so I didn't re-order. Same here! Didn't this book just get offered on the last order form at DCBS? How did it already release?
  13. There's a new title for solicitation in this months Previews: FISSURE #1 El Sueño, Texas was a single street town withering under the shadow of the Mexico-U.S. Barrier. Then the pavement split, and a massive crack spread from one end to the other, rapidly swallowing El Sueño whole. Young couple Avery Lee Olmos and Hark Wright fight to escape the mysterious sinkhole and the malevolent force that beckons from its depths. Publisher: VAULT COMICS Writer: Tim Daniel Artist: Patricio Delpeche Product Code: DEC161518 Expected Ship Date: 2/1/2017 Definitely on my order list!
  14. If you'll be placing an order with DCBS for other books, save yourself the IST shipping costs and order the HC. If you wait until post release, IST usually doesn't exceed a 45% discount plus you pay another shipping fee.
  15. Ordered 2 sets of the 3 covers and they disappeared from my cart as I was paying on Paypal!
  16. Read the last two posts and thought they were quotes posted back to back. Was leaving me wondering why AH would have a favorite boob!
  17. New variants sell for $20-40? Incentives? From Marvel? Variants? Jaydog that you? Please post the other Marvel 1:25 incentive variants that came out today selling for $20-40 (or $55). Most volume stores sell 1:25 for $12-15. All mainstream incentive variants sell for a minimum of 15$ right of the gate at any LCS nationwide. Most for much higher than that. Tell me u don't know this Not true in my neck of the woods. Have one LCS that sells at cover (subscribers allowed to called dibs prior to release) and another that sells at 2x cover (1st at the door wins).
  18. Isn't that 700%? Considering you get the original $500 back on the sale, the return is 800%. The net profit is 700%. I don't see any numbers that would be 900%. Investing $500 for 14 years and returning $4000 is an annual return of 15% (compounded). Bernie Madoff couldn't beat those returns! (I think it's more like 13 years as the "oh my gosh it's $500" was in 2003, but maybe it was already in 2002, I dunno) Future Value Calculator: http://www.calculator.net/future-value-calculator.html?ctype=endamount&cyearsv=13&cstartingprinciplev=500&cinterestratev=9&ccontributeamountv=0&ciadditionat1=end&printit=0&x=52&y=13 CPI Inflation Calculator: http://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm It's that easy...
  19. Hah, and a mere 13 years ago people were scoffing at this selling for $500! $500 13 years ago probably equals $1500 today? Wild guess of course. True, assuming an APR of 9% Inflation rate of 9%? What country do you guys live in? Jerome Inflation rate was never stated. I merely wrote down rate of return required to gain equivalent $$. If you want to know inflation equivalent (2003) $500 in 2016, that number is $656.05
