In a similar boat. I want a NM+ copy for my collection, in no rush to get it graded. Thing is, with Midtown I usually get bad luck in terms of condition. I'd like to get one solid copy instead of having to resort to replacements/returns for once. Doesn't happen all the time, just that my track record with them is spotty. Seeing as how Wytches has been picked up for the film treatment, when is Image Expo? Another variant for the first issue or a subsequent issue could be in the bag. I asked about that at the booth and was told it's tentatively scheduled for the 1st full week of January (8th?). Which seems about right. Last year I had to shuttle back and forth from CES in Las Vegas.

They must not have anticipated the demand. From what I heard they released 125 per day at opening. Whoever was lucky to be the 1st few in line got the lions share as I don't believe they had a cap or limit on how many you could hoard. It was five per person Thursday, 2 per person Friday & Saturday, & 1 per person on Sunday. There was no "huge" line at opening on Thursday. Friday there was a small line at opening. Then on Saturday when word hit the street on the option there was a long line. There was no hoarding. They sold out in 15 mins on Thursday. So it sounds to me like everyone grabbed 5 copies... When I asked on Thursday afternoon, they had already decided that it was going to be limited to 2 per person on Friday because they let me know. I got mine on Thursday and it was limited to 2 for me and everyone around me. I'm guessing they started out at 5 and quickly reduced it when they realized they were going to blow out the whole allotment in 5 minutes. I was in that line on Thursday and remember seeing the front of the line with multiple copies. Unfortunately, they ran out 5 people in front of me..

Always thought it was weird this was the only BKV series people didn't ask me for. I would gladly pay that price! The only place I've ever seen that is here, and only among speculators. I think a lot of readers actually like miniseries. Does it really qualify as a mini just because he is writing in 5 or 6 issue story arcs?

Looking forward to reading this book beyond the preview and having a hard time getting any of the SDCC variants. Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up that Newbury comics has a variant out too (limited to 5).

I don't have one, but I would think it would probably just be the 5-page story at the end of issue 1...? This was originally planned to be the first five pages of issue 1, but Kurtis rewrote the beginning, and this was then added as a supplemental short story at the end of issue 1. I don't see this 5 page story you're talking about in my copies of #1. My copies of #1 have a five page preview for Drumhellar at the end. I assume the 5 page story you're referring to that was originally supposed to be the opening of the comic is the 5-page Hannah story posted online as a preview, which I linked to earlier. But this story is not printed in the copies of #1 I have. The WN story is the Hannah/RQ story but the final panel does have all the Rat Queens. So does that make it a 1st appearance if it's not printed anywhere else???

Fixed it Why don't we wait until the published numbers are out for this book before you make a case for being legitimately rare. I haven't had trouble finding this issue in any lcs but I would say 80% of the copies I did find still on the shelf had significant surface creasing and indents on the covers. I examined about 15-20 issues, and didn't see these issues. Maybe some regions were distributed bad batches. They could be. Mine came from New York and not the midwest. Ordered mine through DCBS both reg and variant. All arrived pristine...

I've also had 2 people on the retail side tell me it did NOT happen as these stores got exactly what they ordered for the exclusives. No need to get your emo feelings worked up. I just want proof.
