  1. According to Amazon, the book is available on Oct 3, 2017 and the description reads: "The most bruising battle in the superhero world isn't between spandex-clad characters; it's between the publishers themselves. For more than 50 years, Marvel and DC have been locked in an epic war, tirelessly trading punches and trying to do to each other what Batman regularly does to the Joker's face. Slugfest, the first book to tell the history of this epic rivalry into a single, juicy narrative, is the story of the greatest corporate rivalry never told. It is also an alternate history of the superhero, told through the lens of these two publishers. Slugfest will combine primary-source reporting with in-depth research to create a more fun Barbarians at the Gate for the comic book industry. Complete with interviews with the major names in the industry, Slugfest reveals the arsenal of schemes the two companies have employed in their attempts to outmaneuver the competition, whether it be stealing ideas, poaching employees, planting spies, ripping off characters or launching price wars. Sometimes the feud has been vicious, at other times, more cordial. But it has never completely disappeared, and it simmers on a low boil to this day. The competition has spilled over to the even the casual fans, bisecting the world into two opposing tribes. You are either a Marvel or a DC fan, and allegiance is hardly a trivial matter. Perhaps the most telling question one can ask of a superhero fan is, Marvel or DC? The answer often reveals something deeper about personality, and the reason is wrapped up in the history of both companies."

  3. These 2 old threads might help. Marvel and DC.
  4. Actually, it was Disney, several years before owning Marvel, that bought Crossgen out.
  5. Same with the Crossgen characters they bought in 2004 - not much has been done with them since buying their characters.
  6. It might be Jack C. Harris as he's listed as editor of Black Lightning in GCD.
  7. Thanks for sharing. I was interested in finding out more about the guy holding those amazing OA pages, Ed Summer, and found this interesting article about him and his friendship with George Lucas. Sadly he passed away in 2014. I also think this video may be from late summer 1976 as they mention Trevor Von Eeden to be a 17 year old kid in the video and he would have turned 17 on July 24, 1976. Also the convention they refer to in New York was from July 2-6. Anyway thanks again!
  8. That's a nice find and a newsstand edition to boot! What would you grade it?
  9. I had a copy or two of this issue and don't recall it ever being worth anything.
  10. Hi. Just wondering if you got my grades for this round. I sent them via message but received no message from you. Thanks
  11. That's a nice newsstand edition. I'm guessing 8.5 as well.
