  1. That's what I am afraid of. Embrace it. Just remember...your children can pay for college their damn selves! Or this will pay for my child's college tuition. Nah........ haha not happening.
  2. Good luck with your books! 1-4 is what started my cravings to get the whole set graded. Welcome to the boards. Everyone here will be sure to increase your love for the turtles.
  3. Scored myself another raw #1 1st print. Pictures of it looked amazing, so I'm crossing my fingers and trying to pull in the luck of Cyberjad. Buying books like this based off of digital photos is such a tough call to make and risky (for me). I've already been swindled once by a less than poor self grader. 9.0 actually grading 7.5 ughhhhhh. But then again I blame myself for not being knowledgeable enough at the time of purchase. This time around I feel more confident. Having the book overnighted so hopefully I will have a better guess tomorrow as to what cgc may give me. So this means the next 5-8 weeks are gonna kill me as I stress out over what my grade may be. My goal is to make a Volume 1 collection in 9.6 - 9.8 . So far, so good. #1 1st print is going to be the toughy. Wish me luck!
  4. hell yeah thats cool. Id get that graded pronto.
  5. I believe I can help you out with "reader copies" of those issues. I keep logs of how much I pay for each book I buy. I'm pretty sure I have extra copies of each of those I've gotten fairly cheap. Books I've deemed myself "reader copies". I'd pass them over @ my cost. Just pay freight! I'll check sometime today. Get back to me if interested.
  6. Only books I've been searching for have been #1 1st print and #3 NYCC. I wouldn't expect anyone to pass those over to me though if they themselves had the chance to purchase. (Wishful thinking too)
  7. great work peter. I have about 8-12 books I could submit, but I am waiting to get as many as possible so I can prescreen. I started only wanting to get #1-12 graded but I'm letting the whole collection take over.
  8. hahaha. My point was not understanding why people would INTENTIONALLY PURCHASE a counterfeit. In your case Pete, I can see it was a case of simply not knowing any better. And that #1 was like a STD. The seller felt so bad he received it himself, he thought he'd feel better if he passed it on to someone else.
  9. I never understood a premium value for a counterfeit, despite how many were made or how long ago. to each their own I guess. I'd image anyone could duplicate a counterfeit fairly cheap.
  10. I was hoping it would never sell. The seller knew it was a fake, as a few of us have contacted him. But one could assume the seller originally purchased this book thinking it was authentic, and just looking to pass off his mistake to another to make.
  11. I should stop listening to my less knowledgeable buddies and stick here. I felt ripped off when everyone was telling me 8.0 - 8.5 . But like I said, I've come to terms with it and its cool. Just gotta still search for that better grade to press. 11.0? Jerk.
  12. I am new to submitting but so far I have been damn near spot on with my estimated grades, besides this #1. I thought for sure it would be a 8.0 at worst. Regardless it is what it is, and I have come to terms with that. The only thing I can do from here is get more #1s! Deciding now whether or not I want to take down my auction and submit the other #1. Scanned through the cgc case. disregard white dots
  13. The one on ebay appears much better besides the small color break. If it was not for the color break, I would have loved to get it graded. I should revise the "estimated" grade on it. I've been meaning to scan it and place it up on the "Spare A Grade". I do not want to overstep its grade.
  14. Thanks for the feedback. I'll scan the book later today. There is minor corner wear on each bottom corner. Fairly bad spine dent top left FINGER DENTING IN COVER. <<< IDK how much better the grade would get if this was pressed out. From recent pricing on ebay, 7.5 to a 8.0 has brought about a 3-400 price difference on average. Pressing, Resubmitting would cut that difference in half. Unless magically it could pull a 8.5 then it would be completely worth it. But besides those issues the book is flat with white pages.
  15. Very nice books. I know those are not the grades you wanted, but still good job (thumbs u Thanks! Yea, grades could always be better, but I am really happy about the two 9.6's as my whole collection besides 1st print and NYCC are ALL 9.6s. Question for the professionals....... 1 of the 3 graders claimed 8.0 . Is it worth the risk of resubmitting to try and achieve a 8.0? I truly feel I was robbed on this one. Anyone else that has seen this book thought it too was nothing short of 8.0/5.
  16. I'm sure anyone here would say yes, #1 is worth the read. I have an extra deluxe edition #1 (6th print) '92 I could sell. Perfect bound (square bound). Mint condition or a Fair condition
  17. Finally I received grades on my books i've had out #1 1st print - 7.5 (2 graders 7.5 / 1 grader 8.0) SUCKY! I thought it was 8.5 #1 2nd print - 9.6 #1 3rd print - 9.6 #3 NYCC - 9.2 (I could of swore this would of graded higher 9.4+)
  18. You might be better off starting at $0.99 and setting a reserve. People tend to get thrown off when the price starts high. They become more enthralled when the action of bidding from a low amount comes into play.
  19. Yup saw that go for over 800. Seemed high, Now Im considering putting my CGC 8.5 up on ebay. There have been a few sellers trying to sell their CGC NYCC books for months now. One seller, who has a 8.5 has been trying to get around $800 with no sale Another, who has a 9.4 has been trying to get around $1,200 with no sale. Yet Mirage has sold 2 raw books recently. one for around $750, another around $1,200 ironically. People are taking their chances and placing bets that these books will grade really high I bet. My NYCC #3 is @ CGC right now (5 weeks now as of today). Still waiting for a grade. I'm expecting no less than 9.4 Hoping for 9.6. I paid $250 a year ago for it.
  20. I NEED HELP. How do I tell the difference between a counterfeit and real #2 1st print? I searched through this thread but couldn't find it.
  21. Hey Moe, As far as I know, the #1 will have the Gobbelygook Ads in the back. I would have to double check for change of address (but I don't believe that is accurate). I have pictures I can email you of my own personal copy. djb 085 @gmail.com (no spaces). Just send me an email. Also, going average rate for something 9.0 RAW/Graded is around $1,800-2,200 I personally wouldn't pay any higher than $1,800 if you truly think it is a 9.0 . 8.0-8.5 usually fetch around the $1,500 +/- .
  22. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260695157813&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT 9.2 went for nearly $2,400 !
  23. No questions about the other auctions. just pointing out current interesting auctions and their end results. As for the guy with the counterfeit. I can't find his response, but I do recall his comments being short. Something along the lines of this.... The book is 100% real. You don't need to see any other pictures, what I have is enough. Buy it and send it to CGC to see for yourself. Not quoted but close enough. .... and Sure Im going to buy it after a response like that. I CALL A FAKE! Prices on 9.0's are definitely staying consistent. Between graded and self evaluated 9.0 they have all gone around the $1,800 mark this year.
  24. I keep tabs on the TMNT market on eBay, as I sell a few TMNT books on there often as of late. Including my Full RUN of Vol. 1 Anyways, figured I'd point out a few interesting auctions. Off of recent topic, but I believe this #1 COUNTERFEIT COPY ? , on ebay. He was originally asking $3000. For some reason he has jumped the price to $3,300 Awhile back I had asked about the legitimacy of this book and asked for more pictures. The short, and rude response confirmed it for me. 9.0 sold for $1,800+ 9.2 currently 0 bids @ $1,500 8.0 #4 misprint UNDER $30 Ungraded Misprint close to $150 ?? I sold about 6 of those on ebay. Highest sale was $110. Lowest $65
