I wonder how well of an investment that could be. I'd imagine it would be hard to recoup $50k -

After a long wait, I am excited to finally ship out some major books for CGC grading as of today. Vol.1 #1- 1st print : Expecting 9.0 #1- 2nd print : Expecting 9.2 #1- 3rd print : Expecting 9.4 #3- NYCC print : Expecting 9.4 Hopes are they reach a .2 higher on all. I felt if I my expectations are a little lower I won't be so disappointed when they return. Peter: That is really cool. The art is amazing, and that shredder is one of my favorite drawings. -

Looks good! It seems that you were very thorough in collecting the whole set. Very nice! You may or may not have it, but since it's not obvious, I'll ask. Do you have the 2nd print of the Raphael one-shot? It's the only 2nd print I can think of that's not listed by name in the listing. Yes it is there. If you look at the photo in auction that shows the #4 misprint, you will see the Raph 2nd print backside to the left. Every possible book is there except #1 video game reprint and #3 NYCC. -

I thought a TPB was just a general term for what it is, not what it consists of. -

+1 +1 the 2007 reprint actually was given away with the 2007 video game at GameStop. "Video Game Edition" normal comic size 6th print "deluxe edition" is a TPB - FYI to anyone -

Some may disagree, but I am involved with enough TMNT fan message boards to feel comfortable with this assumption. Due to the fact there is a new movie in the works BASED on the TMNT comics, the potential interest for the comics will rise during the prime of the movie's marketing. I have come across many collector's who are collecting the series for this same reason. Also, anyone who sees such a high price sale of a book such as the 9.8 #2 will now make the efforts to acquire the same (as I have) to make a considerable profit. In the past year I have bought 4 #2 1st prints. Many of which being from the $30-50 price range. A couple being of at least 9.6 potential (without the works of possible enhancements to increase that to 9.8). Anytime you can find a small gold mine of turning $50 to $700, its a worthwhile adventure for anyone in this field. I myself am in it for the enjoyment of collecting this series. But being involved with the background of the series and it's potential, I make these EXTRA investments to make my money back on collecting the series. I must say everything I've done so far has been worth my while. I may be selling myself short be divulging this information but it doesn't bother me. The key target buyer isn't coming here, it's eBay. But maybe this info will make others decide to do the same as I? That's ok! I wish all the best, as this has been lots of fun. But I'm sure this same concept could work for any popular series. -

Just scored Michaelangelo 9.6 and Donatello 9.6 one shots on eBay from Heritage. The TMNT 9.6+ collection continues to grow. I still haven't sent out my other books for grading. I will be doing that soon as I am highly anticipating more slabs. -

Q&A Comic Production Flaws
DJB replied to DiceX's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I'm sorry if this question has already been answered.... Are production errors taken into consideration with CGC's grading? CGC won't answer me, so hopefully someone here has some experience with this. I have a few books ready for grading with the puncture holes along the bottom. -

Yea we will see what the ending bid is (thumbs u For some reason, the seller decided to add a BIN of $1600 and it sold 8 minutes after he changed it. Lowest price per gpa since 05. That is odd. -

Right! I'm surprised no one has bought that book. Everyone is buying the raw books from the guy that has been pointed out on here as selling opened cgc books. Hes listed at least 3 #1s this month all of which have sold between $6-800. As for movie news, nothing big. The first -script was turned down and new writers have taken over. Apparently someone from those technodrome boards have stated they have somewhat of an inside on it. He said that someone "very close to the turtles" saw the rejected -script as being the best he's ever read. Makes me think its Kevin Eastman as I'm pretty sure this guys knows him. I'm hoping for a PG13 movie. Of course R would be a dream come true. But that would never happen. -

I look forward to seeing your collection. It sounds more complete than mine. Well done! When you say you're missing 15 from the original run, are you only counting first prints or are you taking all prints into account? I never did a count that way until you mentioned it, but as far as 9.8's go, I'm missing 17 issues not counting all printings and 29 issues if you're counting everything in the current registry. I like to think I'm not doing too bad considering there are 24 slots in the registry that don't have 9.8's at all. It's sad that a 9.8 set can't be formed from existing slabs right now, but I'm happy to know that there's at least one person out there trying to put one together with me. I own the only 9.8's for 9 slots in the registry for TMNT 1-62. I have doubles of a few, so maybe we can help each other out. I would be interested. But I'm not trying to get a strict 9.8 throughout. Thats out of my league. So far I'm doing good with 9.6s. I'm trying to keep my collection 9.4 +. But my #1 I feel will grade a 9.0 . Cyberjad - See? I wasn't that far off with my estimated current value. Well at least comparative to what that person is trying to sell the book for. I did see 2 raw books owner graded at 9.0 each sell for $1,800 each on ebay . Something to take into consideration. -

AWESOME! I enjoy seeing others progress in this series as well as my own. I don't have much right now. #2-9 @ 9.6 #10 @ 9.8 #4 Misprint @ 9.6 Soon to be graded are: #1 1st #1 2nd #1 5th #1 6th #3 NYCC #4 Misprint (another) #7 2nd I started off only wanting to get the first 12 graded. Now I feel the itching sensation of completing all 62. Damn do my obsessions get the best of me. -

Peter: Thank you for accepting the challenge you are sure to keep winning at. Looking forward to coming up in the ranks Woregul: It's tough to say w.o a grade what its really worth. I have saved market data on TMNT books for the past year. On average a 9.0 goes for $1,500 . and BTW, this is twodope of ebay, I will get you the scans of the #4 misprint today. Dupont: That picture is from a college student's project. He sculpted it for school and came out and killed all the rumors not too long after they started about this mask possibly being for the the new movie. BTW. For the new movie they are using "Face replacement technology" much like with the movie "Where The Wild Things Are". The mask and sculpt are sick though. I think he sold that sculpt on eBay... or my memory is wrong and I came across like much like Peter did. -

I won't buy this guy's book unless it goes cheaper than that 8.5 auction. I've bought 2 recently. BUT if there is a real good deal out there I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another. I appreciate the help, but as I said I have 2 already so I wouldn't go out of your way. I have 3 sets of Vol.1, which is why I have 2 #1 1st prints. I wouldn't mind owning 1 or 2 more. -
