While I'm not a fan of mystery boxes, the bigger issue is buying from unknown noobs.
If one of buying from unknown noobs (especially mystery boxes) then they deserve what they get. One should be responsible for vetting the seller and do your best due diligence before buying from unknown entities.
If not, then they deserve what they get....sorry to say.

Met Jeff last night as he lives locally. I sold him two books and it went great.
A+ board member and comic enthusiast!

A black MR label 9.6 #1 sold for $1,111 last night.
So much for the black MR label commanding more money than the white label theory. They go for the same amount of $$$$

Nice book!

John Dillinger's is in the Smithsonian?

I don't believe it's a real sale. $150 for a WD 1? nah

ebay isn't the only data source.
Regardless if one is more abundant than the other....the whole run was a little over 7,000.
It's not a common book regardless of what color the MR label is. And pricing has not shown a premium for the black MR.
I call BS on the difference. Nobody out there besides these boards really care about the color MR label.

I sold a 9.4 Black Label to pay for a 9.8 White Label. Grade trumps label color IMO. Seeing as how CGC doesn't recognize the difference and Kirkman himself cant confirm which is more rare, I don't really feel there is a huge difference in price or collectability. A #1 is a #1.
There are those who get all tingly when they hear the term "Black Label". I am just not that type of person.
When I first started collecting I admit, it peaked my curiosity enough to look into it, but after a lot of reading in to it, I wouldn't pay much more if anything for a black label.
People with white labels usually feel that way
If you are kidding...ha ha
If not, you are wrong about this white label owner. I don't care at all. I could have waited to buy a black label MR. If I had enough money to buy a 9.6...I could have bought a black label.
It makes no difference at all. If you are happy with a black label I'm happy for you. Just don't think everyone else thinks like you.

I'm only owning one and white MR is good for me!
What if the price cools down?
No sign of that happening any time soon. But if it does...i'll stick with what I have. I'm not paying for another copy because one has black lettering.

Having a little WD sales thread over in the modern section
and yes I am spamming the thread
Getting out while the show is peaking? Think it's going to drop? Curious why you are selling.

This is what all these rooms need! Mine will be done next week!
Is that the one from Costco? I have been seriously been thinking about doing a self install on that one!
Great idea!

Great looking rooms!

With all due respect guys the has been quite a bit of quoting GPA on here. I am all for giving people the odd piece of information but it is a service. If someone wishes to continually know then they should subscribe. Cutting and pasting info here should be a no-no.

Especially since I pay for it...get your own subscription.

It's surprising that WD wasn't nominated for any golden globes. With the popularity it has reached it's BS that it wasn't nominated
I know these award shows are viewed as fluff but with the best ratings of all these cable shows it should have been recognized.

You are very lucky

I will never buy raw on eBay. Too many places around the country to buy from a comic shop who may have it raw.
Or the boards.
