If I understand the question, there are a lot of Marvel Legends reprints with different covers. This is one of the best.

From a toy show this weekend. There were only two guys with $1 books so I was pretty pleased with the results.

Maybe people finally opened the book and realized it is a horrible example of a first appearance. I've been buying 656's for years now. Unfortunately, there is no variant available for that issue.

I definitely bought 698's from B&N and sold them on here when those were hot.

Today was a good day. One of my local LCS has their annual Halloween sale and had 15 or so sorted $1 boxes and some miscellaneous stuff out for the first time. I saw a bundle with an Invincible 1 on top that said 50 issues from 1-76 missing chunks for $40. Obviously I grabbed that as fast as possible as I’d never found one in the wild and actually never owned any of the early issues. As I was digging through the boxes, I stumbled upon Imvincible 1-104 with some multiples of issues before 20. I couldn’t believe my luck! TWO Invincible 1’s for a steal (not to mention all the other quality isssues). Turned out the bundle had 1-13 in it as well!

423 stays on my wall as that's a book that appeals to a type of buyer that doesn't generally look through boxes. I generally sell at least one every other show priced at $25 (usually take $20 if needed) regardless of print.

I probably won't be surprised at all as I know about Kamala Khan and Gwenpool, but neither of those are on a regular cover. Much of that hype is helped by the limited print run. Who else? And I have been collecting since 1984 and doing shows since I was a teenager in 1991. There are a lot of words to describe me, but "lack of knowledge and inexperience" aren't in the mix. I literally have thousands of customers and reputable fellow dealers that would vouch for me anytime.

The Red Hulk is an interesting example as CGC labels it as first Red Hulk even on blank covers that he doesn't even appear on the cover of. However, the market made it's decision that Hulk 1 was the book to get long ago when it comes to his first app and CGC isn't doing anyone any favors by the misleading tag.

But they've also all but guaranteed that they sell no more than 110k of number 2 and 3. People will be reluctant to buy those issues when they don't even have a later printing of 1.

No one cares about when they appear on a cover if they're not in the story. Ronin appears on New Avengers 1 2nd print, 4 Variant, AND 7 regular. None of those matter vs the number 11. The market has spoken on 650.

There's a whole thread on here somewhere about characters making their first appearance on the cover of a book that they aren't featured in. Marvel's Ronin immediately comes to mind.

Nope. The foil direct edition says Volume Two as well.

Not to mention the more important error. It's the wrong book, assuming he's actually talking about MTU 65, which is indeed heating up.

Are you sure you don't want to open them up just to conform that they are DEFINITELY first prints?

Can someone please prove this one way or the other? I have heard both versions for years and never seen anyone actually show me that 180 was ever more valuable than 181.

Thanks for the update. I knew it was the same character, but a lot of times the uninformed go for the cheaper option of the current name so I thought there could be some money to be made.
