  1. About four months away, and now set to steal all the thunder from Alamo City.
  2. According to their FaceBook page the 2017 dates should be announced soon. I'm hoping to finally make it. With Alamo City moved out of October this year I like my chances.
  3. That's a good question. Guess he has to pay the cell phone bill until the rapture.
  4. Saw that on Facebook too. Glad the little girl in the stroller is getting a good look, I'm sure her Mom is loving it too. It looks like there is 20 people at the show.
  5. Dates already posted for next year, same weekend. Any more reports from this weekend?
  6. Continuing to upgrade my ASMs, pecking away at my pre-hero Marvel want list, and at least one nice lower grade Hulk between 3-6 to work on that run.
  7. So far we're getting a wrestler and Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers).
  8. You took the FE show calendar out of your sig line. Does that signal some coming changes?
  9. A couple of the reviews on FB complained about the loud music from the main stage in the dealer room, and the bad decision of putting the stage there in the first place. No mentions of strippers yet.
  10. Valiant has had people at Alamo City the last couple of years, though I'm not sure how extensive their setup has been. Any chance you could steal them away from Alamo and get them to set up in Dallas? I feel like that would be a good step in the right direction in terms of reestablishing some publisher support for this show.
  11. I know you're being sarcastic because you see my post as impatience over the guest announcements. In reality I am much less concerned with the guest list per se than I am with how FE is going to attract the congoers they need to attract to make this a successful comic show with two fewer months to do it. The vendors that do your show need buyers to show up, including the comic vendors. If you don't accomplish this you'll see your comic vendors spend booth fees elsewhere. FE may be perfectly happy to sell those booths to skin care vendors or local insurance agents, but it isn't going to help your shows attract buyers who spend serious money with vendors. I know none of this is your fault specifically, but for comic vendors I know and spoke to 2016 was a down year for sales. If that trend is not reversed in 2017, and this radical date change has me worried, then I suspect a lot of folks will find something else to do in 2018. That would be a shame, as I look forward to this show.
  12. The show is only 84 days away. Hopefully these announcements are going to roll out fairly quickly...
  13. Bought a gorgeous CGC graded ASM #42 from Ted, and the transaction was smooth as silk!
  14. It's great when you can find a white cover that looks that fresh. Another beauty!
  15. Comic con, casino, French Quarter, and awesome food! Wish I could go! Me too. I think I'll head down for 2018 if Wizard is still solvent.
  16. I technically won this book in 2016, but since I didn't pay until the new year I consider it my first pickup in 2017:
  17. The show seemed a lot smaller in 2016 in terms of square footage, and while it was quite full on Saturday it didn't seem ridiculous. Moving the show out of the Fall so they can take over the entire convention center is shooting themselves in the foot, in my opinion. It is going to torpedo their vendors, and I'll imagine their guest list will suffer as well due to more competition. I'm quite concerned about this year's version, and I am 99% certain we will be passing due to the date change.
  18. New dates in the Spring on Memorial Day weekend. Now only two weeks after Comicpalooza (assuming they don't follow the trend of moving earlier in the year too!) and much closer to Fan Expo. Not sure who'll have money left for ACCC. Not digging this new trend of big Texas shows radically changing their dates on the fly...
