  1. Sadly, this is the weekend before Alamo City, which I'm tied up with for four days, so I am doubtful that I will be able to road trip down to this one. It is always something with me and this show.
  2. Apparently they think they can be more successful than Wizard with a large con in Atlanta... Home page
  3. I really want to finally get to this show. Any word on dates?
  4. I think Hiddleston is great too. He was perfect. I think Simmons and Hiddleston are 1 and 1a on the casting. I also thought Fassbender as the young Magneto was excellent. Indeed.
  5. Some college is better than no college, not sure why he'd tell you to take it off.
  6. CGC uses the dates as they appear in the books, and some reprints (like these) don't change the original dates. One might think a tad bit of research would be in order for a professional grading company. Let's not get lost in the weeds. Publication month/year is all that matters. Reprint dates aren't even generally made public (except in cases like Bone, interestingly enough), much less have any bearing on the original publication date. For a reprint to have a new date on the label, it would have to have that new date somewhere on the book, and would probably have to be substantively different from the original (like the EC reprints of the 1970's.) Was MOS #18 5th printed in 1994? Probably. The first "DC Universe" UPC logo books have a Jan 1994 (printed in Nov 1993) cover date. But it doesn't matter, because the cover date is still Dec 92, and that didn't change. Trying to figure out the "actual date" would be a task beyond the scope of CGC. RMA, not directly related but I've got a question for you....which I'm sure you know the answer to. I actually *remember* you breaking this down but I can't find where you posted it. What are the top 5 (or 10, if you want to go that far) toughest books to find, in the cumulative DOS & ROS storylines....as far as reprints and DCU logo reprintings are concerned. to find because the ROS DCU's were (exclusively or mainly) sold in prepacks. I know JLA 69 4th is fairly tough...Adv 497 3rd...MOS 19 3rd.... But I could have sworn you posting *somewhere* on this board, that Action 686 (DCU logo) was the hardest one and that even you have yet to come across a copy. Is my memory correct? The thread you seek lives in the modern forum.
  7. Nobody has bought a copy of JIM #83 in 6 months?
  8. Picked this up as part of a small collection buy today, this is definitely my keeper for now, and will pair nicely with my CGC 3.5 #1.
  9. This isn't an accurate statement. I don't know if you are completely joking or just very hopeful, but Deadpool is not in the club. One successful movie doesn't make him equal to the greatest superheroes (and Wolverine) of comic history. His long term success in movies is also unproven as his character (beyond his origin story) largely depends on the ability to be increasingly inappropriate and vulgar with his co-stars. If you read his comics all he does is break the 4th wall, be violent and make sexual/violent references towards the others. It will be difficult to keep this schtick fresh and still build a brand without denigrating the superhero co-stars to a point where they become parodies of themselves and no longer bankable. The used two throw-away stars in his first movie, there isn't an endless list of these and there is only so much believability in that type of rinse and repeat approach. Everybody is doing backflips over a one-trick pony. People can celebrate the success of the movie without going over the wall bat-*spoon* crazy about how this is the next coming of the savior. Does this apply to Harley too? The Suicide Squad movie will put her on the map. Harley has much more upside than let`s say Wonder Woman. I look at the upward trends and most of the younger generation thinks Harley is cooler than Wonder Woman by a mile! The old traditionalists will tell us how cool Wonder Women is,but we all know Harley is way more interesting! Things change. Tarzan at one time was more popular than Wolverine. Buck Rogers at one time was more popular than Star Wars. Fantastic Four at one time was more popular than Deadpool. Harley and Deadpool lots of upside! Insightful. About as insightful as horses at one time being a more popular form of transportation than cars. The M*A*S*H* finale is still the recordholder for most watched TV show (barring Super Bowls) in history, with 105 million viewers and 60% of households tuning in (approximately). This should make it likely to sell more comics than WD. Like 30 times more if viewership has that strong a correlation in your other examples. Cheers was also huge, with the second highest rating ever for its final episode. Where is the long term Cheers bump? Cheers is deader than Mash. There will be no bumps for both of them. At one time Milton Berle was the king of TV. Ask anybody now who Milton Berle was? Deadpool and Harely have more upside for investment potential than MASH,Cheers and Uncle Miltie because Mash,Cheers, and Uncle Miltie`s time has come and passed, while Deadpool and Harley are just getting started. Deadpool and Harley are a great opportunity for collectors to get in at the beginning before their first appearances skyrocket. Anybody remember how Star Wars #1 exploded in price over the last few years? Don`t be surprised over the next few years NM #98 and Harley`s first appearances continue to rise. For some reason old time comic book traditionalists hate change, and resist when new characters like Deadpool,Harley and The Walking Dead take off. Deadpool,Harley and The Walking Dead are good for the hobby because they create new interest. Who do you think is buying those high priced Star Wars #1s? It isn't the newcomers discovering Star Wars for the first time, it is fans and speculators in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Not much upside there. The time to get in on Deadpool or Harley isn't when their books are already $1000 in 9.8, it was 5 years ago when nobody cared. Deadpool's strongest fan base doesn't have the disposable income to spend on NM #98 in pretty much any grade. When they do have that income, what percentage of them will still care enough to drop the coin? And how many copies will be around to satisfy that demand? But go ahead and throw out the tired "people who disagree with me obviously hate the books, and hate the characters, and hate/resist change" because that is obviously what is going on here.

  11. I had a feeling you may have snatched that one. I thought the price was going to go higher than it did. Great pickup!
  12. Picked these up in last night's Clink action. Compared to the STs the JIMs seemed quite reasonably priced, IMHO.
  13. Thank you jimbo! Been waiting for tonight since I first saw it hit the listing a few months ago. Once I get it, I'll post a group shot of the AA 1-6 mini-run in 8.0+. -bc ps-bought a lot of comics in auctions but the adrenaline is still pumping after this one. Great pickup, I'm glad one of the PH BSDs here got it! It is a ridiculous copy of a very difficult book. I've been trying to upgrade from a CGC 6.0 for years. How did you know I'm an old UNIX admin? Don't see many references to Berkeley Software Distribution on these boards. -bc That's totally what I meant.

  15. Can't you set up a regular PO box to send all your business mail to? That way the only that gets sent to your store box will be junk mail. That is a situation you can control, and that $25 for the rekey would have paid for about 6 months of a decent sized PO box. I did have a po box. thing is, the po box for my store would be 30 minutes away and as w16227 said, doesnt help me now . Can't you set up a regular PO box to send all your business mail to? That way the only that gets sent to your store box will be junk mail. That is a situation you can control, and that $25 for the rekey would have paid for about 6 months of a decent sized PO box. -- does not help his current situation, though - his resale certificate is in the box now and that is needed for Diamond. Any chance your state has an online site??? - Illinois - you get hardcopy but also all of your documentation is downloadable. I do not know specifically - if your state would allow a printout of the certificate for operating - but a pdf should work for diamond. Ill have to check. My accountant did it so ill ask him to check as well. At this point, i just want my mail. Even if its all junk mail and the cert, i just want it. I missed the post carrier the other day by 5 minutes bad news for you, but much appreciated advice for future store owners thanks for the update nice update. the key guy just showed up and gave me the keys.

  17. He owns the 9.2 and is trying to decide if he sells at that price.
  18. I don't think I would take that for a nice looking 9.2, but I'll be interested to hear what everyone else says.
  19. There usually tends to be a spike in prices during December, even right up to Christmas, for last minute holiday shopping. Demand spikes because of this, and then calms back down in January. It is unlikely that the highs achieved in December are the actual value of the book, but it is equally likely that the lower prices achieved in January aren't necessarily a true value either. It is probably someplace inbetween (but closer to January if I had to guess).
  20. Flash #197 has it all: great story, great cover and great villain. It is good to see it getting the love it deserves. Much of it is probably due to the show, but that is to be expected.
