  1. Home Page Recycling the thread with 2017 dates!
  2. Wow you must have a ton of customers ! that's a ton. Yeah my LCS had two when I was there, and I show up about 1 hour after books get put out. Not sure if he was holding a few for costumers (which he will do on request). Can you still buy it if you're not in costume?
  3. Yet another terrible result for Voldemort. -J. The 4.5 is lower than any sale on GPA in more than a year. The 6.5 is 20%+ below the last CGC sale. Even factoring in a 10% decline to account for some overall back sliding in price for the book (which may or may not be a trend) that's still 10%+ below a comparable CGC slab. -J. I sent 5 comics to V last year to try out the service and now I'm regretting it. I may just crack them all open and send to CGC. Why are people still sending to V when it seems like prices are consistently lower? Because until recently there wasn't enough pricing data to establish the general trend. Going forward this will be baked into expectations and drive submitting choices. The seemingly slightly elevated grades from V would seem to make them a favorite of sellers, but not if the selling prices don't reflect trust in the grading.
  4. Who would have ever thought that Iron Man would be the heavy hitter in a Spider-man movie?
  5. Are any of these MME printings stated in the indicia as second or third?
  6. Pulled this second print out of Vintage Stock yesterday.
  7. New dates for this show, no Nashville in 2016.
  8. That is an impressive group of books, even if many of them are lower grade. Great opportunity to pick up some early books or hole fillers.
  9. Time for a little thread resurrection, courtesy of Vintage Stock. I'd never seen these two before.
  10. I'm sorry to hear that, and hope they're ok. It just looks suspicious when a new purchase someone is so excited about is suddenly being pimped for sale with lightning speed.
  11. I'll recycle the thread. Back to being very late in 2017. They can't help bouncing this one around the schedule. Home page
  12. Starts today! Unfortunately I'm missing it again.
  13. My latest addition to my modest run of early Avengers, from Clink last night.
  14. This beauty just arrived in the mail today. It's a substantial upgrade from a 5.0 I've had for 20 years, especially since it looks like an 8.0 in a 7.0 holder. A big thanks to blue808 for working with me on it!
  15. Could someone please explain the "no logo" variant on Tick #8? I recently picked up a full run of Tick #1-12 in a collection (with SE #1-2) and am curious to know more about this variant. Thanks!
  16. MCS approves this message Crossing fingers for all those holders of 9.8's that it'll be a decent show, AOS sure didn't see much price bumps and its been on several seasons. Bitter? Nope I'm a realist. Factor in its netflix sure it'll have fans but I'm still not convinced these paid services trump basic cable tv shows right now in ratings. Maybe I'm too old and can't think outside the box enough. I liked Daredevil and binge watched them but it kinda kills the hype when the whole season is there on debut day IMO. These "paid services" 100% trump basic tv. What show still has raving reviews and is superior in quality ? Yup Daredevil...the show lots of people binged watched on its debut and are continuing to. A.O.S. hasn't seen much of a price bump in the comics because the show is mediocre and low on the quality barometer. What drives prices on comics is buzz and quality. The difference is the "buzz" isn't constant when the whole season is there to me. There really wasn't much discussion with my friends after each of us watched Daredevil. However shows that are weekly like Gotham, Strain, AOS has much more discussion in my groups of friends even casual conversations with people. I watched Daredevil over one weekend,,,,it was cool but after that it was a bit of a letdown to me, over too fast and a long wait till the next season. Ask yourself how many paid services are people really willing to spend over basic cable stations? You got Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime & there go paid services. Add all those up and it is more expensive than a basic cable package. When 50 percent of Americans make less than 30 k a year and that is before taxes, add their cost of living plus family expenses cutting these paid extras are occurring whether that is promoted or not. But something like Netflix costs about $9 a month, while you can't even see one movie in the theater by yourself for that in many places. $9 a month for 24-7 access to content is a screaming deal, especially when you throw in exclusive content like Daredevil or House of Cards. If you're a consumer of this type of material the expense is a no-brainer over many other forms of entertainment. But, if someone on a budget is watching the shows this way it probably doesn't mean that they're chasing the books and driving the market for these comics any higher...
  17. I would rather put my money into a NYCC bottle of Pepsi Perfect than an issue of Back to the Future. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pepsi-Perfect-Back-To-The-Future-2-II-Authentic-Official-Bottle-RARE-with-Box-/301776334018?hash=item4643456cc2:g:N5AAAOSwT5tWJUoB And let's see what the comics or the Pepsi are selling for in a week or two after the hoopla dies down for BTTF Day.
  18. No demand for Ms Marvel or Captain Marvel? Or do you just see that demand from older collectors? Which runs? The BA Starlin Captain Marvel books and BA Ms. Marvel #1 and #18 show demand, along with MSH #12/#13 and the Strange Tales Starlin Warlock arc. As far as the new runs, Captain Marvel is slow - I move a #1 every from the last two series every second or third show but that is it. The 1st appearance of Kamala Ms. Marvel and her solo title has slowed a lot as well - I had no requests for it this fall, but it did sell decently at the shows this spring. Maybe the "All New" relaunch has killed interest in the back issues? Whoa, I figured Kamala Khan would be a big seller for you. The Google+ comic groups convinced me she was already the breakout Marvel character of the decade. Maybe for the first half of 2015. Last show we did nobody asked to see any of the wall books we had of hers. In Feb-May we never went home with any.
  19. I try to have my keepers be 6.0 or better, and I really like 7.5s when I can find them (all the beauty of a VF book and cheaper than the aforementioned price spike at 8.0). Anywhere in that range is high grade enough for me.
  20. Uh yeah, no. While mycomicshop itself is a reputable company, shillers love using its ebay listings to artificially pump up prices of books all the time. All the time. -J. ...or maybe a book that doesn't have 400 CGC 9.8s that happens to be around 30 years old, is considered some of Frank Miller's best work, and is called the most important battle in comic's history by Comic Book Resources is finally being recognized for all of the things it is. I know its no ASM #678 (to you) but to some of us, it happens to be the book that settled years of arguments. Who would win ? Ask MCS if it sold. They are fellow bordies and I'm sure they'd share the info. Either way, its a book on the move. ...or it was just another shilled MCS "sale" via ebay. A problem acknowledged both by Conan (of MCS) and GPA on these boards. And here's your dead give away right here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Batman-The-Dark-Knight-4-DC-1988-GRADED-CGC-9-8-WHITE-/272003284940?hash=item3f54a8bfcc:g:L~sAAOSw42JWDWml And 340+ copies (and counting) of a book in a 9.8 is still a whole lot of 9.8's. -J. Funny. I have this on search and receive emails from ebay every day. That book has never popped up. My bet is it will sell now that you've pointed it out. Someone should thank you. As for the number of 9.8s, demand will decide if that is too many or few. That represents about one fifth of a book like Saga #1. With almost 1700 copies in 9.8, that book was selling for more than TDKR #4 as recently as last year. This may or may not be a $600 book. No one knows. What we do know is that it's on a steady climb and worth mentioning as a book that is heating up. The entire miniseries is undervalued imo. In this day and age, the 1st female Robin might be an overlooked book too. Take a good look at the label on the book in the link. It needs to be corrected, and probably scares away potential buyers. good catch. that label probably does confuse folks. Here's another reason why that MCS "sale" on ebay is either shilled or a horrific outlier: http://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/batman-the-dark-knight-returns-4-dc-1986-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/121539-14236.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ($167.00 from two weeks ago) -J. Because it isn't possible that a low sale is the outlier?
  21. My plan was to sell it at it's peak to make the most money like you said and this was a deal on facebook not in person. My reason for making that trade was black mail he said if I back out he would post in the facebook groups that I'm a scammer. I do have gpa which is why I wanted to keep and sell the asm 129 for a good profit. The deal went down something like this because I posted that I bought a asm 129 and was excited Him: "hey you have a asm 129 cgc 9.0 right?" Me: "I don't have it yet but I bought one why?" Him "I have a ba12 about a 9.4 raw" Me: "ok show me pics" (he showed me pics and I didn't agree with his grading so I asked if he wanted to do a cash plus trade deal and this was when gpa on the asm 129 was 1075) Him "what do you think?" Me: "I don't agree with your grading because your overgrading and over valuing the comic as it's raw" Him "ok how about this? the ba12 plus 300 cash?" Me: "that's sounds fair when I get it I'll let you know" Him: "cool" (the comic now arrived) Me: "ok I got the comic and since the value of asm 129 went up would you add 100 bucks? because if not I'd like to keep it since it will go up in value" Him: are you backing out of the deal? you said you agreed and now your backing out of it?" Me: "The values of the comics aren't even anymore so if you can add a little more cash we can still do this" Him "No what I gave you is fair all the dealers I went to said this is a 9.4 without a press" Me: I don't want to lose money on this trade" Him: "You won't trust me" Me: "I don't want to do the trade if you won't add some more cash to your part" Him "If you back out of this deal I'm reporting this to all the fb groups that you tried to back out of a deal and scam me" Me: "I didn't scam you and we didn't fully agree on the trade" Him: " I don't care you went against your word and you are trying to scam me now" Me: Fine! I'll do the trade ok?" Him: "good" (keep in mind I asked him to do the extra cash part when then comic's value was at 1225 and I would take a little lower yes but I'd still make a decent profit on it or so I thought) Said it before, That bolded line is my mistake? so what should I have said? It's not what you should have said You shouldnt have shipped the book. Period. Even with $100 kicker you were begging for..... there is not enough of a profit margin to make this trade worthwhile With the 100 more I was asking I would have made a profit I'll explain I bought the comic for 950 and I though his ba12 would be worth around 750 so that would mean I need to cash at least to make a profit on it and I said I wanted 300 so to me that margin of profit would do well for me since it's a quick sell now to where it was worth 1225 his comic is worth around 750+300 cash this is where I said I don't feel I want to trade it but if he put in extra 100 I'd do it and take a bit lower profit on the comic so taking that into consideration it would go like this I paid 950 for the asm 129 his comic is worth 750+400 cash = 1150 1150-950=200 profit for me as it would be a quick sell and easy to move it Am I reading it right that you and this guy set up a trade: Your ASM 129 for his BA12 + $300. Then, once you got the BA12 (and presumably the $300), you asked him to kick another $100 on top of it? Is that correct? yes that would be correct And you really think that he was in the wrong? You accepted his deal and then wanted him to give you more on top of it? As others have said, I don't think this is your thing. But, if you want to keep on pushing on then, as others have said, you probably would be better served scaling it back to small books until you figure out how this works. In terms of how he forced me into the deal yes he was wrong on that regard and yes I did want more on top of because the value of the comic went up. So in your way of thinking, for instance. If I buy a Hulk #1 from seller A for 2500 dollars, and it goes up in value to 8000 dollars would I owe him money because the value grew? Preposterous! No I only thought that way because he pissed me off and I didn't like how he made me do a deal with him. Until you quit playing the "he forced me into the deal" card, and own up to completing the deal because you made a deal you should honor, it doesn't appear that you've learned anything from the last several pages of discussion.
  22. I see what your doing and the answer to that would be no I wouldn't credit him $100 for it. Then why would you think he should give you more? If someone pulled that on here, they'd get skewered. Not sure why you continually get the benefit of the doubt. My thoughts as to why he should give me more is because the value of the comic went up while his didn't. I don't ask people to give me the benefit of the doubt unless someone is saying I want to scam them which I don't. I admit my mistakes and I do my best to learn from them. And if the book had gone up a month or a year later would you have expected him to pony up the difference? When you agree to a deal, you agree to a deal. You live with the consequences of the deal that you made. When you change the terms of the deal after they've already been agreed to it does look like a scam, and it looks like you don't have the integrity to stick to the terms of the deal that you agreed to. If you come up on the wrong side of the trade, which you clearly did here, you take your lumps and learn from it. But learning from your mistakes doesn't seem to be your strong suit. I know I told him the that I realized what I did after he told which he said basically the same thing and I need to make mistakes more than once to learn from them as odd as that sounds. Why?
