  1. No. Nor have they ever published their grading standards.
  2. I've always loved that cover. This was my fourth overall copy, and third graded copy, before I finally found my keeper.
  3. I like this plan, which book? My first thought was Turok #1, which you probably can't avoid finding in cheap bins if you tried. Viewed newly listed auction for maximum time to accumulate watches and picked one from someone that expects far too much: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Turok-Dinosaur-Hunter-vol-1-no-1-July-1993-/151460403201?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item2343be5801 Aaaaand watching We've got 2!! Watched Guess I make four.
  4. So cool to see "old books" that have remained in the same hands for 20+ years! This is what our hobby should be all about!! I just wish I'd filled all the gaps in my ASM run 20-25 years ago!
  5. Great book! Sserpo is my favorite Thing prototype. note the 11/61 release date - same as ff1. Sserpo did not predate the thing... According to Mikes amazing World of comics the AA #6 beat FF #1 to the stands by 7 days. That'd still make the prototype a bit of a stretch...
  6. Just back from CGC, I've owned both books for around 20-25 years.
  7. Tough to compete with the books posted here in the past several days! I just got this one back from CGC, and I'm really pleased with it.
  8. It's looking like coupon subs are back on track.
  9. Scheduled for grading 10/21 Graded 10/22 first thing in the morning when I checked and all blue labels Shipped/safe this evening (10/22) during the series! A week ahead of the due date!! My books went in at the same time, hit graded 10/22 (same time as mysterio's), still sitting at graded..... FIFO? Still at graded......for going on day three. Mysterio's went from graded to shipped in a day. Indeed. And our books arrived at the same time in the same shipment. And still at graded...... A long weekend of waiting for grades I know it takes as long as it takes, but when two invoices get subbed next to each other, at the same time, and my invoice moves to graded earlier in the day, it's kinda unfortunate that my invoice is going to wait at least 4 more days to move to shipped.... Jaster's books moved to QC today, mine are at the FedEx store ready to be picked up on my way home.
  10. I thought they had changed that policy. They can't reveal grades until they are "finalized", which usually happens after QC. If that has changed that'd be great, but if you can call during graded then why wouldn't they post them online?
  11. Shipped already? Our submissions came in around the same time and mine is still sitting on Scheduled for Grading. Again, I'm so jealous!! #FIFO!
  12. Both subs were coupon subs, so by their very nature they were all the same tier. correct but if you had different types of books lets say 2 moderns and 1 silver and 1 goldenage then they probably get graded by different people which could have an impact on TATs that's where I was going with that thought. Fair enough. Mine had three silver and one modern (ASM 408 variant). His had 4 silver age.

It sounds like Mysterio got lucky with getting his submission shipped early. I think I did. To be fair to CGC tomorrow will be the 15th business day on his coupon, so they are still under the posted TAT thus far. But to have two coupon submissions that were literally received in the SAME BOX follow such different paths on shipping is a bit irritating. Mine are halfway home in the mail while his still sit at Graded as of this morning (just checked). Mine may very well be in-hand before his even get marked shipped/safe.

  17. I picked that set up but have yet to crack it open. I'm looking forward to it.
  18. That's a nicely centered copy. Mine has a bit more of a miswrap.
  19. Yes, folks have suggested that it is "rare". I am suggesting that the primary (if not only) reason the second printing has value is because of a mistaken perception of "rarity" that is based entirely on what is currently on the census. Very little from the copper age is actually "rare", and the second printing of asm 361 certainly is not, as evidenced by the 10-20 raw copies that are readily available at anytime. -J. The crux of this issue is that relatively speaking, the second print of #361 is much more difficult to find, and find in grade, than the first printing. This does not make it rare in the sense of Gutenberg Bibles or more pedestrian GA comics, but it does mean that it is considerably more difficult to find than the first printing. If a third of the people who want a 9.8 first printing also want a 9.8 second printing, that demand is going to raise the prices on the much more meager supply of the second printing relative to the first. I know that you're arguing that the census is not an accurate representation of the number of copies in the wild, because second printings are not submitted nearly as often as the first. But as an ASM collector I can tell you that I have seen many fewer copies of the second print relative to first prints. I would say that the second prints are roughly 20% of the run of the first prints, based only on my perception of what I have seen. I would be highly skeptical that the number of 9.8 second prints would ever be more than a fraction of the first prints, so if the demand stays high the value of those second prints will continue to rise and may surpass the much more plentiful first prints. Again, the argument is not that the #361 second print is truly rare, just that it is significantly less plentiful (particularly in grade) than the first print. If you're going to argue a point, please start with that interpretation because that is what everyone is saying here.
  20. Sweet, I would totally go see it in the theater again (got lucky enough to catch it on the big screen about 15 years ago). How long will it be out? I'll be overseas from the 28th until December 7, so hopefully I won't miss my chance.
  21. Scheduled for grading 10/21 Graded 10/22 first thing in the morning when I checked and all blue labels
  22. I'd argue that it is much more likely that more first prints will be slabbed in 9.8 going forward than second prints as the second is a tougher book in grade, thus increasing the disparity between available 9.8 copies even more than today's census shows. If this trend of demand for the second print continues this would cause the second print to potentially eclipse the first print in value. Hell, if CGC would add the second prints of #361 and #362 to the registry sets like I've asked them to that alone would probably increase the demand right there...
  23. Scheduled for grading 10/21 (just to make it official)
  24. The comments typically disappear when you're getting close to shipping.
