  1. I’ve wondered the same thing. I think I’ll still plan to go up and attend Thur-Fri next year, even though the consensus seems to be that the show is in decline.
  2. I’ve got a modern with a 6/8 invoice date still at CCS. It’s taking forever.
  3. Anyone else have a bunch of current invoices disappear off their account page? I’ve got one showing, while like four other more recent invoices have disappeared.
  4. Is there anything boys won't try to turn into a missile? I think it was Maskatron’s arms that worked the best, if I’m remembering right. I’m sure some of the Micronauts guns worked too (we got all our Micronauts secondhand so I wouldn’t be able to name the specific toys).
  5. We figured out that those pegs would fit into a lot of the spring loaded missile firing toys we had. They really flew when shot.
  6. I think the answer to all questions about Wizard is the latter: sheer incompetence. Too many of their decisions in the past several years point in that direction to come to any other conclusion.
  7. Wizard 2018-2019 schedule Looks like Wizard abandoned all those small cities AGAIN (though I think their record for three cancellations in a row in Albuquerque is still intact). Down to 13 shows next year, assuming they go back to the cities remaining in 2018 for another go-round.
  8. Thanks! It’s long been a favorite of mine. Now if I could only get my hands on #94-95...
  9. Got two, one impulse buy (the Marvel Boy #2, which I won’t show out of respect for our host) and this upgrade:
  10. I simply meant that CGC would get complaints because people who did take the competitive nature of the registry (too) seriously would now need to concern themselves with the newly listed variants. I’d prefer to see them added someplace for the information. If they’re going to do a registry, it ought to serve as a store of information as much as possible.
  11. I wasn’t even talking about the registry points, which are a hopeless mess I stopped caring about a long time ago. If they could get registry slots in the various titles that would serve the purposes (and cause the rage) I outlined.
  12. ...and "it's too difficult" is a terrible, terrible excuse. If it's too difficult, your system is poor. I've said this before: there are people out there would would voluntarily offer their time to help implement these things, or even work for slab credit. They need only ask the community. A few thoughts came to mind on this... I’ve lobbied successfully for at least one registry addition: the blacked out price variant of JIM #76. Others weren’t so successful. Obviously adding ~300 of these to the registry would require a serious overhaul. Such an overhaul might seriously irritate other collectors who don’t care about these variants, but would now feel compelled to seek them out. Of course, this would also go a long way towards publicizing them to a broader section of the collecting community. As for the software, they sure didn’t mind overhauling the boards (basically against the wishes of ALL of its users) and successfully migrated a ton of data over here. It could be done for the registry, if and when it becomes too expensive to maintain whatever legacy system they’re still running.
  13. What did you think of the selection of books and dealers?
  14. Pretty sure this was Verzyl, I remember flipping through the books at a WW Chicago.
  15. This is kind of the impression I’ve gotten too. Very little enthusiasm during or after this show in this thread aside from Hector, and the few pics posted show fairly empty aisles. I know of a couple dealers who’ve said that this might have been their last setup there.
  16. Any word on 2019 dates? If they have that 5 year contract then they should have an idea of dates to publicize.
  17. Thanks to @HOTFLIPS for the intel on the dates! Same weekend as usual. Home Page 2018 event thread
  18. That is weird. What if someone had been buying the book at their LCS and just missed issue #3? Are they really not going to sell a single to a fan who has been supporting them? I’m with you, get the work out there however you can. If someone wants to buy a single issue, sell it to them.
  19. I’m curious how it was from a dealer standpoint too. I spoke to a couple and reviews were mixed. The fact that some regulars were not in attendance is also a worrying sign.
  20. So was this show as good as usual, or did it take a step down?
  21. Still hoping for pics, and any intel on 2019 dates won’t hurt either...
  22. Safe travels everyone! And post a lot of pics so I can live vicariously!
