  1. Finally got a chance to post my newest 5G page up on Comic Art Fans. Check it out: http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=144586
  2. If that's just the way you like to collect, then that's fine. I totally respect that. Just understand that there's no historical precedence in the hobby for 'the most original rendering of a character' being used as the sole criteria for a first appearance.
  3. I don't think that's any more relevant than the copyright date. I mean the lead time for having a golden book published could be significantly longer than the lead time for a comic book...or not. Either way, when the art was drawn wouldn't prove anything.
  4. That number's really not that bad.
  5. I don't purport to know the answer, but I am pretty sure that "publication" in a copyright filing need not be the day a book hit the stands, thought it can be: “Publication” is the distribution of copies or phonorecords of a work to the public by sale or other transfer of ownership, or by rental, lease, or lending. The offering to distribute copies or phonorecords to a group of persons for purposes of further distribution, public performance, or public display constitutes publication. Under this definition (from the copyright office) "publication" also means that merely OFFERING the work for sale for further distribution to the public can be considered publication. So, in this case when shops got Previews? Dunno how the tape/combo would be sold to stores (and I am assuming this doesn't mean "offering" to the distributor..but it might?) So now we don't have a clear cut answer as to what hit the shelves first. The book/cassette combo looks like a toy store package (with the hang tab and blister pack, etc.). If that's the case I'm not sure you'd ever find out the exact shelf date as I'm not sure there would have been a hard and fast "release date" like there is with periodicals (and if there is, does anyone keep track 20 years later?). I mean if the 'publication date' is a week apart (favoring BA12) then, without hard and fast evidence, it's a tie at best. And in this situation, a tie definitely favors the book that more cleanly fits the hobby's commonly accepted definitions of 'comic book' and 'first appearance.'
  6. Per divad's post, BA12 was published one week earlier...
  7. I think this has value, but clearly BA12 is the book to own. Of course BA12 used to catch flak for being out of continuity until recently...
  8. The print run was reported to be 200, not less. EDIT - N/M I do see that they had it as less than 200 on the site. I do find that hard to believe with comps, backdoor copies and whatnot.
  9. Yes I think movie with the material out so far but long term, I would rather watch it weekly. Cartoon would be cool as someone compared it to Johnny Quest in style a while ago. I think it would be a letdown in the art department after what Chris has done. Who would play Fabian ? Orlando Bloom in Balian the Blacksmith mode. Totally off topic but that reminded me I need to watch Kingdom of Heaven again. The director's cut is one of my favorite movies ever (as opposed to the completely unwatchable theatrical cut).
  10. Tony personalized the early pages for people who wanted it. I politely declined
  11. Nah, he's just under pixel's control.
  12. The first issue was released 10/31/12, so in under 13 months, they will have released 10 issues, including a double sized #1 and the TPB. Not bad at all.
  13. Chris has a pretty sick piece in the current Mondo Gallery show: http://www.mondotees.com/Weird-Science-Cover_p_1217.html
  14. Ok kool sounds right. But are they part of the 100 or extras? Hence the 105 Most numbered prints have 10-20% of the run in additonal AP or PP (printer's proof) copies. So if you ever buy an art print numbered out of 100, just assume there are actually 120 or so copies out there.
  15. Uh, yeah. It's also small art from a far more recent issue (and this is coming from a guy who has 2 Jesus pages from that issue). It's not worth anywhere near a Michonne page from 19.
  16. Damn, dude. That's serious commitment to the series! Nice.
  17. That's only going to be direct market though I believe. I think Archie does more newsstand and bookstore business than direct. Not sure if the variant is direct only or not though.
  18. As an aside, I really loathe the 'I'm not a professional grader, but...' line. For the love of god, we all know you're not a CGC employee. There are probably only like a dozen 'professional graders' in the world and they're not allowed to buy and sell comic books while employed as such. And using that lame azz line doesn't absolve the seller of anything. If it shows up less than NM, I'm just going to send a message saying, 'I'm not a professional buyer, but I'm opening a Paypal dispute because your book is a POS.' Sorry. /Rant sent him a offer for 30$ counteroffer was 89$ good luck am out now he retracted his offer I am guessing it is a board member. Yeah, that's my listing. No real interest in selling unless someone wants to pay stupid money. But, yeah, probably oversold that, so I've revised. I understood there were only 200 printed (50 x 4 days of NYCC), but don't want to mislead anyone. It's why you don't list after a 12 hours of work and a couple beers. But I'll take the deserved whipping. A good lesson for us all to always be mindful that we could be talking about a fellow boardie. Hey, if it sells for your price, Spaga, then good for you (and all of us I expect). Not really I said what I said and still mean it not willing to pay that price I would rather hear a honest opinion then some water down mess you want to feed down the pipeline to be friends not aimed at you just prefer honesty. and I am sure it will sell at that price when the book gets more steam. Talking more about Solar's rant. Eh, Solar's not wrong. I hate it, and it's lame, but just feel like it's a bit of a necessity, but I'm a lawyer, so I tend to just cover my *spoon* more than I need to in just about everything. But I've never had a gripe about condition of books sold ('cept the one time that the package disappeared in USPS for a couple weeks and showed up with everything short of tire marks on it, and I refunded). yeah, my rants don't change because the seller is a boardie. In fact, they apply doubly! You seem like a good seller - I just hate when that line is used as an excuse to sell dinged up books as NM.
  19. I can take ribbing as long as my questions are acknowledged along with the friendly ribbing. Your question was probably ignored because it's been asked and answered multiple times in this very thread. People typically expect new members to be willing to read a little and search for questions before asking (not just on this board, but on most message boards). You're not entitled to an answer just because you post a question. There are 2 versions of the ashcan and off the top of my head, both were limited to 60 copies. As to if it's rarer than the OA, well OA is unique, so nothing is rarer. As to popularity, I think it comes down to personal preference - not everyone here is an OA collector or a collector of rare books. OA is generally worth more though, if that helps, although it varies by what's on the page, if it's a splash/panel page/cover, etc...

  21. You'll learn far more on these boards than on yahoo answers if you can take a little friendly ribbing.
  22. If she finishes a full story arc, she'll certainly have been around for a very long time.
