  1. That's because it was out on Image before Image was "hot". That's not true at all. Image wasn't through the roof like it is now, but Proof was part of a previous hot streak that included books like Morning Glories, 27, Skullkickers, and a few others. Proof #1 was a $30+ book for a while.
  2. Such a great debut arc. I liked how
  3. Agreed. It should definitely be fine.
  4. (thumbs u I wanna see a scan!
  5. Well, to be fair, I'm pretty much at lurker status if you devide my post count by days registered.
  6. I've been here 9 years longer than you and you have 1500 more posts. That's pretty amazing! Edit: Also, I agree that Nick should pimp Bedlam a bit more. Consensus around these parts is that it's his best book. It's probably because I'm collecting the hell out of it. That's usually the kiss of death.
  7. The lettered edition sets (ltd to 52) of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels that the show is based on have sold as high as $15K and numbered sets (ltd to 500 i believe) routinely move in the $5K range. So...yep.
  8. So you don't think raws will increase that much? I'm not talking about a lot, but maybe $40-50 apiece? That would be way down the road IMO, IF the series becomes one of the most popular in the hobby over the first 10 or so issues (like Saga).
  9. I just picked up another #1-3 from a going out of business sale somewhere in Wilmington, DE. Listing now. Which store is going out of business? I live in Wilmington and haven't really been making the lcs rounds lately.
  10. Couldn't disagree with this statement more. So everyone who sells modern comics as they are released doesn't have a full time job? and are bottom feeders? No one forces anyone to make a purchase. If someone wants to pay XX over cover then let them. You miss my point, why sell a book for peanuts pay, it doesn't make sense, it makes people look desperate like they need to do this which leads me to believe they don't have a job. Because if I had one which I do, wasting my time making two dollars on a book doesn't seem like a worth while endeavor, which doesn't help the market in the long run. That's true, no one forces anybody to make a purchase but if the little of cover price didn't exist people would be buying it at a higher one. I own 100 copies of this book. Of the 100 copies, just how many will be sold now? 0. I invest for the long term and don't need to sell any because I have a job to pay the bills. Or you could sell 5 lots of 10 for about $250, turn a small profit right off the bat and sit on 50 copies risk free as your long-term investment. It has nothing to do with whether or not you have a good job. Most of us do. We also don't like to lose money, so eliminating all risk from the equation has a certain appeal. Edit: looks like 5 other people were typing the same thing at the same time
  11. Yeah, you're not pre-ordering 9.8s, you're pre-ordering sellable copies. If you tried to return 9.6 quality books you'd probably get laughed at. That's why 9.8 slabs carry a premium - they're not a given, even if you purchase the books new. Most every batch of new books will range from 9.4 to 9.8 and you have to be able to recongnize the difference and sub the good ones. The rest get sold as raw NM on ebay. Now if the books take a hit during shipment and you end up with 50 9.0s, it's time to return or exchange depending on availablility.
  12. Exactly. I pre-ordered my copies of this one.
  13. I can't believe online retailers are running low on this book. I thought there would be near-infinite copies available
  14. Nice pages! Mooneyham is definitely solid for a new artist.
  15. The 500 + 350 was only the Nowhere Men Thought Bubble.
  16. They're not recreations at all and they are used in publication, in that the digitally colored version of the tonal becomes the final cover art, just like a copy of the linework becomes the tonal. Most artists go from linework to digital finishing, Jenny just has a middle step in her art-making process that results in a second piece.
  17. Saw that. It actually seems like a pretty good buy - not a ton of downside there. That dent on the side of the box might make me a little nervous though.
  18. I don't think it's really fair to include second printing covers as variants. Beyond that, sure, eight covers is a lot, but it's hardly 53, is it? -e.s. Eric Stephenson Publisher Image Comics, Inc. www.imagecomics.com 53 is just asinine. Someday Marvel will release a book with 351 variants and then 53 will be resonable (thumbs u
  19. I don't think it's really fair to include second printing covers as variants. Beyond that, sure, eight covers is a lot, but it's hardly 53, is it? -e.s. Eric Stephenson Publisher Image Comics, Inc. www.imagecomics.com DAMMMMM - he showed you!!!! hahah
  20. I was actually wondering this myself... I know I bought the original pencils to the cover, but it would be cool to own both. I think ideally, it'd be nice to have both. Separately, the pencil piece has more value as the "true" original...but the blueline looks more finished. It'd be too hard to choose! Still can't get over that a single copy of the comic is worth more than all the OA covers so far (sorry!). I agree that the pencils are more 'original' and long-term, I think they'll be more desirable. On the other hand, I like the look of the blueline and, as a more casual Revival fan, the $250 price tag is attractive. I don't think you can go wrong either way. Congrats, Ash!
  21. Yeah, that JLA book took it to the next level for sure.
  22. I'm one of the biggest Bedlam fans on the board, but #1 did have a boatload of covers: 1st Print Detroit NYCC NYCC Sketch Third Eye Forbidden Planet Phantom Larry’s Special Edition 2nd Print I'm glad it's been limited to the first print, Phantom and 2nd print for subsequent issues.
