  1. I just now saw this reply to my post from a year ago A-level Thompson Sandman (not just A+) is definitely in this range consistently. Here are a couple semi-recent examples (grades are obviously IMO): B+ http://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/jill-thompson-sandman-v2-47-brief-lives-part-7-page-6-dream-and-delirium-original-art-dc-1993-/a/7104-91274.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 B/B- http://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/jill-thompson-and-vince-locke-sandman-v2-46-page-22-dream-and-delirium-original-art-dc-vertigo-1993-total-4-items-/a/7104-91273.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515 In Sandman, from what I've seen/experienced, the multiples come in to play for Endless vs. non-Endless pages. Sandman pages without an Endless family member barely even register any interest. It's not an A or B page unless it features Morpheus and/or Death.

  3. If NM86 is the first Cable, then Detective Comics 16 is the first Superman.
  4. My first thoughts: - Is that a basement? - God, I hope his sump pump has a good backup battery.
  5. Yeah the variant theme is definitely homage to DKR. I doubt the artists were provided with any advance info on the plot of the new book. Indeed...as well, the DKR imagery is what fanboys want and DC certainly knows that. DK3 plot via Bleeding Cool: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/10/29/dark-knight-iii-is-about-the-liberation-of-kandor-frank-miller-talks-plot-and-we-get-a-first-coloures-lettered-look-at-pages/ Hmm...the plot sounds like more DKSA-style silliness. The preview pages looked solid though.

  7. Glad to see the creators post! It would be a real shame to see this title fade into obscurity. It's been one of my favorite reads since the first issue. I bought OA from the book at ECCC '13 before I even read the book, just 'cause it looked so damn cool and it definitely delivered on that early promise.
  8. I bet that would taste great with my 150 year old antarctic expedition beer http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2015/06/15/arctic-expedition-ale-sells-at-auction-for-over-5g/
  9. Yeah, I pretty much insta-flip anything with TV/Film hype. The good results of holding long-term are far outweight by the bad. In the case of Preacher, I've used those funds to buy some OA, which is awesome regardless of the show.
  10. At least the Oates is still worth a couple bucks
  11. 1988 Donruss Gregg Jefferies http://blog.squeezeplaycards.com/?p=6 Man, my '88 Fleer Glossy Gregg Jefferies was my prize possession in third grade.
  12. Besides the obvious mega-$$$ vintage cards, does a card's current status determine its price? I.e. If I bought the art for a card that was awesome in 2002, but sucks now, will it sell well because people who were heavy into the game in '02 are nostalgic for it? Or does it tank because it's irrelevant now, kind of like modern sports cards and the whole 'hot rookie' syndrome.
  13. Did we really need to draw the teenage Carrie with nipples? It bugs me when artists do this for no good reason Artists known for their sexy women are going to (tend to) draw all women sexy. Even chubbies and non-humanoid aliens. And so? Much larger debate for other forums (fer sure), but until the post-WWII era, this idea of post-menses 'underage' didn't really exist. Presently it's just an arbitrary number chosen, a legal line in the sand, not as if there's some sort of magic that happens physically/mentally at age 16, 17, 18...the year the 'magic' happens all depending on which state you're in?? Not making any sort of argument on that subject here, just that it's not as big a deal to everyone as some folks might assume. We all know the average age that female menses begins...that is the real physical change signalling -at a minimum- physical maturity. The rest just follows. And before we bash up Biz too hard, maybe...somebody should mention to the parents of all those teens at the mall...they'd be doing their daughters a favor if they dressed them 'up' as much as even Carrie. Most wear much less. And tighter too. No matter what any of us thinks, the culture seems to be moving younger and younger, sexier and sexier, with little regard for the legalities (that aren't moving) or the fact that it seems people have very different opinions when it's their daughter on displays vs. "teenagers". Ya know? At least she isn't facing the other way I think the issue is more that Carrie Kelley is a very non-sexualized 13 year old in DKR. That's kind of rare in comics and it kinda takes away from the character to give her D-cups. Not that I care. For all I know, he could be drawing the character as she appears in DKIII. But I doubt it.
  14. Or maybe Midtown just increased their original order by 2K because they knew about the signing. Those copies might not even exist in another reality where BKV wouldn't sign for them. In that reality, the overall run on the book is 2K lower.
  15. I think we discussed this page on another thread about a year ago - the page is from one of my favorite sequences in comic history and that price was a steal.
  16. So relieved I sold my thought bubble variant for over $350 before this started tanking. Believe it or not, someone sent me a PM on here telling me that it was going to be a 1k book months from when I sold it. Considering I sold multiple 9.8 copies at $700, that really wasn't far fetched at the time. It was on track to be another Saga RRP.
  17. Funny, I don't remember Superman's head exploding in DKR.
  18. K, you should tweet Nick Spencer with that question, await a response and then come back to share it with us here (or the Bedlam thread if you can find it). He'll probably tell you it's coming back late this year. Just like it came back in late 2014. Also, I'm sure he'll insist that 11 issues in 36 months isn't really that bad. That's an issue every 90 days!!
  19. I used to have the pencil prelim for Donato's "Razia, Boros Archangel." It was very detailed and 11x17ish. Just curious what that would bring these days. Do the Magic people care about prelims at all? They certainly didn't back then.
  20. I'd rather give Capullo 50k for his Bat 1 cover than pay 18k for that.
  21. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the variants are not incentive variants (e.g. 1:50, 1:100). They're store variants, so they're store specific. Most collectors will only see the regular cover on the stands, along with their store's variant (if their store got one). It's a mix of incentive variants at the usual tiers (including a Jim Lee original head sketch variant at something absurd like 1:2000) and retailer variants. DK III has passed the point of no return for variants and won't have any one memorable cover, except MAYBE the regular, IMO.
  22. I agree that any TV option is far from a sure thing, but I thought it was only optioned for a movie previously. I know the movie rights were tied up for ages before they reverted to Brian/Pia.
  23. I'd say good luck. You were looking to sell it and now you'll get a better price!
