  1. Pure speculation... My guess is that the regional variant is the A cover and the W&D style cover is the B. Dealers wouldn't have to order specifically, since the cover is being determined by location rather than preference. A specific regular cover image hasn't been released for this issue yet since there is no one regular cover. Of course, I could be totally wrong on this. Edit: Looks like TBP beat me to it (thumbs u
  2. I believe he said 16 to me too, which makes more sense since it's the start of year 2 and the fourth arc.
  3. I don't hate it, but I'll stick to the Dragotta cover.
  4. Is this cover Wolverine pretending to be Deadpool (I'm assuming this is the case since he has claws)? Deadpool pretending to be Wolverine? Does it have relevance to the story or were they just going for a cool image? Genuinely curious.
  5. Dude, that's awesome! Fantastic idea. Those Revival sketch covers really showed a lot of scuffs, ink and random grime on the white parts - I wonder if he colored over some of that and raised the grade...
  6. Except that's not a comic book. It may be the first time the black costume is depicted, but collectors want the first appearance in an actual comic book. I mean if it were even a story preview it would have a bit of appeal, but as an illustration accompanying a text piece...that's a stretch, IMO.
  7. Yes. Socially awkward & creepy. who the hell cares what the bookstore cashier thinks?
  8. I don't have any of these books, I haven't read any of these books and I don't really care, but just from past experience on the way these things shake out, I'd label the books as follows: MSH13 = 1st Carol Danvers Avenging = 1st Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel Captain Marvel 1 = nothing on the label, unless the book becomes super important, which I doubt, and people demand it be labeled "Origin Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)" Traditionally, release date trumps story chronology as a first appearance and the first time an existing character shows up in costume as a new superhero is the book to have. And yes, I'd consider a female Captain Marvel as much of a new superhero as say...Barry Allen Flash or Hal Jordan Green Lantern, Jason Todd as Robin or Azrael as Batman (ugh)...
  9. 90k print run and multiple variants for issue #1 is not good for the value. NYCC variant coming in at a 1:180 ratio = very good for its value.
  10. I think it's the Rafael Albequerque cover. I saw it on twitter a few days ago. There's also a Jeff Lemire shop variant cover floating around out there. Tons of variants for this one, especially considering it's the second issue. At least they're picking quality artists.
  11. Nah, that's insane. Hold out and you'll find it much cheaper.
  12. What are these shop variants for? 1 second print? 2? 1 first print way after release?
  13. The Kaiju variants and the NYCC are all second printings.
  14. I could see it going higher. i look at the East of West RRP as an example. There were 4 covers on those and they shot way up. The last couple of 9.8s sold in the $240 -$250 range. The question imo is not whether or not it can go up in valuebut can it stay there ? Demand and readership will determine that in the future. Yeah, I think the EoW RRP is the best comp. Wytches as a series will sell considerably more copies because of Snyder and the massive promotional push Image has backed it with. On the other hand, the EoW RRP was tougher for the average collector/speculator to get from source. Both seem to have had some condition issues and both have to compete with a ton of other variants.
  15. Yeah, 1/3 of it was fill in artists, but he was the regular artist from beginning to end. As a co-creator who stands to make bank on this property, I don't see him jumping ship any time soon.
  16. Fixed that for you. No, I still want one, I'm just not going to pay 1st week scalper prices for it Except that it might be scalper prices and it might not. (thumbs u Bedlam Saga
  17. I hope it's not another #1 first print variant. If it's anything else, congrats!
  18. 215Ink told me they sold over 1000 books, so I'd say he did pretty damn well.
  19. Just got this guy back from CGC. This is the "Ed Brisson's luggage" pedigree copy Agree on the grade (I didn't press it, just wanted to get it preserved as-is). Could have sworn it was ECCC though - now I wish I had looked in it more recently. Not that I'm really concerned one way or another - just cool to have one.
  20. Just posted my NYCC commission to CAF - check it out http://comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1169304
  21. They must not have anticipated the demand. From what I heard they released 125 per day at opening. Whoever was lucky to be the 1st few in line got the lions share as I don't believe they had a cap or limit on how many you could hoard. It was five per person Thursday, 2 per person Friday & Saturday, & 1 per person on Sunday. There was no "huge" line at opening on Thursday. Friday there was a small line at opening. Then on Saturday when word hit the street on the option there was a long line. There was no hoarding. They sold out in 15 mins on Thursday. So it sounds to me like everyone grabbed 5 copies... When I asked on Thursday afternoon, they had already decided that it was going to be limited to 2 per person on Friday because they let me know. I got mine on Thursday and it was limited to 2 for me and everyone around me. I'm guessing they started out at 5 and quickly reduced it when they realized they were going to blow out the whole allotment in 5 minutes.
