  1. Last one I saw sell went for $6,600. I don't recall however which auction house or exactly how long ago. 2 years ago maybe. Anyway, I noted down the price at the time because I have the pacific coast 9.4 copy myself.
  2. Just look at this cool ad on the back! Totally sells this book...
  3. A little hazy on the details here, but I think I heard the Pini's had some copies held back that they sold a couple years ago, and a number of them showed up on ebay graded 9.4 - 9.8
  4. I'm a stickler about centering as well, and seeing that #3 on the market was a big part of what made me finally jump in and start at a CGC Vampi set.
  5. Glad you caught it quickly and it all worked out!
  6. Last two for a while. 81 did not scan well and looks better in person.
  7. 3 more issues from my binge buy showed up today. #43 has such a dark cover every smudge and scrape on the case showed up in the scan. The #105 case has a couple unfortunate scratches and a ding as well, but the books are solid.
  8. Finally picked up some books for the Vampi CGC set I've been thinking about working on practically forever. "Thanks" to getting blown away on all my bids for Strange Tales and Dr Strange books, I have some money for my other secret obsession!
  9. Haven't seen it posted yet: Steranko's first book at Marvel:
  10. I've bought a couple slabbed books from him. Good seller.
  11. I cringe every time I see a Signature on a very hard to get high grade silver age book. I'm fine with them on low grade copies. I once owned a good FF1 that Stan signed for me at a convention.
  12. Mylar all the way, but that said, all my high value silver age stuff is in slabs.
  13. Watched the whole season yesterday. I enjoyed it and would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. It had some plot problems, but nothing bad enough to ruin the enjoyment for me. I'm glad to see they made progress with the Danny Rand character. He was a lot better here than in Iron Fist season 1. Some might not like the slower pace at the beginning, but I enjoyed playing catch-up with the characters, bringing us up to speed on their lives. The biggest downside is, with only 8 episodes, the slow start left us with a more simplistic and brief conflict. It would have benefited from a few more episodes and a further developed story line.
  14. Reporting on some books I was watching in the ComicConnect auction that closed last night: Strange Tales 110 9.2 $27,500 http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=719270 Strange Tales 115 9.2 $4,657 http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=719650 Strange Tales 126 9.4 $2,655 http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=660292 Stronger prices than I was expecting after the Dr Strange Movie hype has come and gone. Particularly the 115 (origin issue). I was hoping to pick up a 126 at a discount from the pre-movie prices, but no such luck.
  15. I finished the series and the stand out for me was poor writing. I'd compare the whole season 1 of Iron Fist with the last episode of Luke Cage, which is to say, it was very disappointing. Acting overall was 'ok'. Danny Rand/Iron Fist didn't seem like the character I remember from the comic book at all. The fight scenes didn't compare well to Daredevil, and they really needed to shine to salvage the show from its bad writing. If you are undecided if you want to watch it or not, don't bother, at least not this season. Lets hope the writers do a lot better with Defenders. Another stinker like this and I'm going to drop netflix I think. I could watch bad scripts on regular tv, if that's what I wanted to do.
  16. In this age of movies pushing prices, a post movie dip is pretty common isn't it?
  17. That ASM 1, and therefore this collection is clearly pressed. I can see it just by looking at the top edge. Not telling anyone what to buy or not buy, just making it known for those who aren't sure and may care.
  18. I really liked it. The story was good considering the ground it had to cover and still have a villain, a conflict and more. I'm a pretty hard core Dr Strange fan, and I didn't feel it went too far from the source material for a present day movie adaptation. While it would have been cool to delve deeper into how the mysticism worked in the books, like the invoking of extra planar beings for their powers, they did touch on it just a bit, and you can only do so much and move the plot forward. Some of the effects were like nothing I had seen before on screen, and really were at times reminiscent of the silver age books. First movie I've seen since Avatar where I thought it really was worth seeing in 3D. I think it deserves the 91% it has on rotten tomatoes, and if you see it, definitely see it on the big screen in 3D.
  19. Its DD1 > Jessica jones > DD2 > Luke cage for me, which as me worried about Iron Fist, since Netflix/Marvel have done nothing but go downhill since DD1 in my book. As to the question about amount of action, its not the action that hooks or loses me, its the plot. Too much obvious, too many stupid holes, and I just cant do it. I will say Luke Cage had some surprises mixed in with the bad and obvious, which along with the sweet soundtrack made it work for me. Still, dead last of the Marvel Netflix offerings to date for me.
  20. Thanks Gadzukes, those numbers look promising alright. Really on these big books, its just who's buying when it goes up for sale.
  21. Yeah, I was comparing it to the 9.4 pedigree I saw go for $51,000 maybe 1 or 2 years back.
