  1. I think the color piece is Steve Rude .....
  2. That was real (belongs to Bechara Mallouf). The conversation that we were having in front of it was: Is that the best Kirby Surfer cover"?.I think the consensus was it was ,even though there are other more historically significant covers (FF 50?) that this was the best. What do you guys think?
  3. The first Comic Art Con :NYC Edition came and went and I would have to say from a collectors view point it was a success . The space was small but did offer an intimacy that was nice and felt more like an art gallery .If a couple of the bigger dealers participated like Anthony or Burkey I don't really know where they could have put them but for the dealers and the collectors that attended, the space was just right. Speaking with Joe V. I got the impression that this is still a work in progress but by what I saw it got off to a good start.Parking on a Sunday in that area was not too difficult. So now I'm looking forward to the NJ Edition. Here's some pics of the space and some of the art that was on display.
  4. Ok Here's the dealer list for the August19th NY Comic art show (just came out on Facebook) Will Gabri-El, Hans Kosenkranius, Bechara Maalouf, Metropolis Collectibles, Rich Donnelly, Frank Giella, Brad Savage, Nathan Rose, Dan Pottick and Albert Moy! Kinda small but as I said before the "Bechara Museum"is worth the trip ......
  5. That's great info Bird..Albert and Bechara are worth the trip ! (although I'll miss Anthony as he is one of my favorite characters in this hobby) When ever I view Bechara's table ,it's like a trip to a comic art museum .If any body else knows of dealers that are attending please chime in !
  6. Yes it is odd.I'm getting the feeling that something is not right here.
  7. I'm curious about this August 19th show . Dan and Joe are great guys and their shows were/are always the BEST. Having said that ,their previous shows were always announced months in advance ,this august show was just announced a few weeks ago . They have a show in NJ coming up in Sept ,3 three weeks later, and then we have the NYC Comic Con soon after . That's three trips to NY in less than three months for the dealers .Is their really enough interest for all of this activity ? The location on the lower east side is interesting also as I am very familiar with the area. It continues to be an up and coming Fine Arts gallery area but parking is very difficult .. Again ,Dan and Joe have always put on great shows so I'm hoping they can pull this off....I'm planning to attend so I'm pulling for them!
  8. Since I'm guessing that you don't have the complete story (just the first 8 pages) I would break it up. It's hard when you love the medium to break up some thing like that but the logistics of displaying that many pages is difficult and only a few collectors would have the resources to purchase the whole thing . I would keep a couple of the best consecutive pages (frame and display) and then sell the rest . It hurts but you take some comfort in knowing that you made the art available to more collectors who appreciate the work that might not be able to afford the whole batch. It might be more effort for you to sell them individually but the $ return might be greater. I think most of us would love to be in your position...Good Luck!
  9. Hi All, I thought I would share some recent additions to my collection and I think they add a nice color compliment to the black and white. I just discovered that allposters.com has a great assortment of retro comic covers and they are very reasonably priced. Not the usual assortment that you find and they come in a variety of sizes and are pretty good quality so you might want to check them out.
  10. Thanks to all for your input . To clarify ,that’s Colletta inks except for the Olsen face which is Anderson. The more I look at that page the more I feel that it is “Historical” in many ways. Just the fact that we have the Anderson redux of the Kirby Olsen face reminds me of the struggle between the “House” style of DC at the time and the more expressive approach practiced by the artists at Marvel . That battle started in the 60”s and continued into the seventies. It is also historical in regards to the character “the Guardian" which was a reboot of Kirby’s Golden Age hero. I’m glad that most think Anderson’s work was not a detriment. One of the things I love about these pages is that they are a collaborative effort with multiple artists involved .. Damn, now I wish I wasn’t parting with it
  11. So I've got this Kirby Jimmy Olsen page going up for auction today (5/29) on Comic Link and I'm thinking that, with the New Gods movie coming out ,these Kirby Fourth World pages are probably a good buy for somebody, but I was wondering about the Murphy Anderson inks. Jimmy's face was inked by Murphy to seem more in the DC style and I was wondering if that makes the page more valuable or less valuable in a collector's opinion. On the plus side it is the legendary Murphy Anderson and most feel that he is a better inker than Colletta and he gives Olsen the "Classic" DC look but on the down side he is messing with the "Kings" work. What do you guys think? There are other Kirby pages out there "corrected " by Anderson .Is that a plus or a minus in terms of $ value? You can see the Clink listing here: http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FALLSUB.ASP%3FFocused%3D1%26id%3D1398%26Artist%3DJACK%20KIRBY%23Item_1244796&id=1244796&itemType=1

  13. Scroll down and checkout these other pages while you're there at Clink. a great Jack Davis Mad page,(Nice ink washes ) Super Curt Swan(love his costume design ,reminds me of the Legion of Super Heroes) Ross Andru Spider-man page (no Spidey but great action on this larger size page) All of these end Thursday and should go at reasonable prices!
  14. My friends over at Comiclink usually do a great job of listing my consigned artwork in their upcoming auctions but this page might slip through the cracks as it is listed under penciler Alex Saviuk .Saviuk did a great job penciling this but what makes this page very special is the characters , with money shots of Marvel heroes Spider-man and Iron Man and great action as they battle each other .On top of that the page is written and signed by Stan Lee and inked and signed by Joe Sinnott. So that’s Spider-man,Iron Man, Stan Lee ,and Joe Sinnott .That’s just about everything that made the Marvel Universe great (with the exception of Kirby) on one great page. This might be the best page from this strip that I have ever seen.So check it out below and perhaps throw a bid in here: http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/allsub.asp?Focused=1&id=1398&Artist=ALEX SAVIUK BTW, that auction ends 5/3 and the Puppet Master is also included !
  15. A very frustrating day for me there on Sunday.Joe Sinnott was listed and was a no show and Bechara ( who IMO has the best stuff) was only there Saturday so I missed him completely . Who had of those Mark Schultz pages? I missed them also !
  16. I agree with fsumavila ...Art is a luxury and if your finances are that tight you should have probably not even thought about buying art......Sorry about your problems .
  17. I turned this page over to Comic Link .It will be available in the next Feature Auction
  18. I got the list ! Always a little disappointed when Burkey doesn't show but here it is: Tomorrow is our 20th COMIC ART CON!!! March 18, 2018 Dealer list: Bechara Maalouf, Will Gabri-El, Anthony Snyder, Albert Moy, Hans Kosenkranius, ComicLink, Rich Donnelly, Frank Giella, Jim Warden, Scott Eder, Brad Savage, Robert Dennis, Nathan Rose, Dan Pottick, Hakes, Lee Benaka, Ben Bressel and Michael Carbonaro.
  19. The NJ Comic Art Con is only a couple of days away (3/18) and Dan and Joe usually post a list of guests and dealers that will attend . There is nothing on their site and I don't remember seeing it posted here.....Did I miss it ??
  20. Here is an opportunity to own a Jack Kirby drawn cover from one of his creator owned characters ,Capt.Victory, without selling the kids. Everything on this one of a kind artwork is classic hand penciled by Jack ,not light boxed, with the exception of Captain Victory and some text which are stats. Kirby drawn features include his signature high tech machinery ,several monsters and series character “Egg Head” with dynamic inks by Mike Thibodeux. If you can find a Kirby cover ,any cover,it is going to be pricey but this historic cover is priced to sell at $2700.I hate to part with it but it’s time to let someone else enjoy it. U.S.buyers only .Price includes shipping. Message me if you have an interest.
  21. I've been there plenty of times for the Carbannaro Big Apple Shows and it's fine.
  22. That's right Jaybuck,That poster has been around for a while .I think they reissued it recently. That would be great if you ventured across the river to Princeton .You could check out the show and, if you were inclined ,you could visit the Princeton University Art Museum two blocks up the street. There is also some great restaurants and the Princeton Record Exchange which is one of the few places where you can still get a great variety of used CDs and Vinyls, all in walking distance.
  23. The "Heroes of Comic Art " opening reception last weekend and it was huge success .It was great to see so many turn out for this event .Sometimes I feel that most folks don't care about this great art that we all enjoy but receptions like yesterday are encouraging. Check out these photos and if you are in the NY/NJ area try to stop by as it is well worth your time and effort! http://artscouncilofprinceton.org/exhibit/heroes-of-comic-arts/ Here's some pics:
  24. Here's a couple more pages that will be on display in Princeton, Jan13th
  25. SOUNDS GREAT !!!!!! BEST OF LUCK !!!LET'S HOPE IT'S A HUGE SUCCESS AND AN ANNUAL EVENT !
