  1. Baker Romance - a couple nice slabs

No HOS or Probies allowed. PMs welcome but first :takeit: in the thread gets the book(s). Shipping with the US or to Canada is included. Overseas add $30

These books are on their way back to me from sunny FL so I don't have pics yet. But I thought I would offer these up now in case there was some preliminary interest. Once the books are in hand I will provide pics (if they are still here).

Pictorial Romances #16 (St John, 11/52)   CGC Universal 8.5 with OW/W pages. This one pains me since I believe it was previously a 9.0 (The guy I got it from told me it was a 9.0 that was cracked out - and I compared it to a scan of the 9.0 when it was in the holder and it looks like the same book to me). Regardless this is an example of the tough grading period we are experiencing right now. Sigh.     $1100  $875

    Teen-Age Temptations #7 (St. John, 4/54)  CGC Universal 5.5 with OW/W pages.   $750  SOLD

As I said - Pics of these fabulous Baker books will be forthcoming

  2. Jon,

When the dust settles will you gives us all your take on the auction? What your feelings were watching it unfold, any surprises (or disappointments) for particular books, your thoughts on where the market is headed (general trends, etc). I would love to get your take on it all. Thanks for an exciting several days btw!! It was an auction event that will not be forgotten

  4. RARE 1939 Bob Montana HS Yearbook. RIVERDALE inspired.  This is a RARE 1939 Haverhill High School (Massachusetts) yearbook. Archie creator Bob Montana attended here from 1936 to 1939 until moving away in what would be his senior year. This yearbook (he was a junior) represents the last year associated with Bob Montana and Haverhill. Montana based much of Riverdale and the Archie characters on his friends and teachers at Haverhill and he recalled those years fondly. Shown in pictures of clubs/groups are Principal Earl McLeod (Mr Weatherbee), librarian Elizabeth Tuck (Miss Grundy), Arnold Daggett (Moose), Mary Elizabeth Walker (Montana's next door neighbor and possible inspiration for Betty). Others may be shown as well - I am not sure. Montana is pictured in 2 club photos (one for the Brown and Gold Staff and one where he was a cast member in the Operetta). The school's mascot "The Thinker" was often shown in the comics as well. This may have been Montana's only pictures in any Haverhill yearbook. Condition is excellent overall - a few signatures here and there from random classmates. A wonderful association between the creator of Archie and the place and people that inspired him. Also included is the 1940 yearbook which featured many of his classmates at Haverhill in their Senior year photos.  $275
