  1. That particular comic was found in Minnesota not Montana. The whole tug of war ripping the cover is the funniest part of that story. edit** whoops I should have read the thread to the bottom.... I didn't see the post directly above mine.
  2. He should've used "Giant Size Man-Thing" for the comic.
  3. I had an AF15 being shipped to me "registered" about 8 years ago (at the time maybe a $6000 comic). I was checking the delivery status daily to watch the slow but steady progress the package was making. One morning when I checked the status it showed it had been delivered. It had NOT! I brought my problem up on the boards and a boardie who worked for the PO said if I gave him the confirmation number that he would be able to get me a scan of the actual signature (CGC boardies ROCK!!!!). I got the scan. The signature was not a forgery of my name (which is what I thought I'd see), it was a regular signature of a person who I don't know. I got on the phone with my PO and demanded to talk to the manager. I explained the situation. She said to give her a few minutes to make some inquiries and she'd call me back. 5 minutes later she calls. She's apologetic and somewhat distressed. She tells me that they had a "substitute" delivering on the route that day and the sub delivered it to the wrong house. She says the sub knows what house it was delivered to, and that she personally (the manager) was going to drive to the house herself to get it. 30 minutes later my doorbell rings and the manager gives me my package (with many more apologies). I got lucky.... thank God the person who signed for it didn't open the package. Now I always make friends with my carriers. We exchange cel phone numbers, etc.... they tell me when they're going on vacations, when subs will be on the routes, etc... all good info to have. My carrier tells me ALL the mistakes seem to happen when substitutes are on the routes. I asked if the sub got fired that mishandled my registered package. Nope.... the PO is so hard up for workers that you can screw things up bad and they still wont fire you.
  4. I find this panel to be more "disturbing" than "ridiculous". As a kid I probably would have had nightmares.
  5. Ok, here we go.... Blue Beetle 29. We learn that Dan Garrett the Blue Beetle has learned how to forge the lightest and strongest armor, which is what he wears. But for NO REASON WHATSOEVER..... at times, the armor can emit Death Rays! WTF??? The Nazis capture him and plan to make an army of Gestapo Blue Beetles. Hitler is about to give the order to chop his head off. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY SAVE OUR HERO AT THIS POINT???? (those death rays would be nice right about now) Hitler collapses into a manic fit and starts eating the carpet (and Goering's butt). In the confusion BB escapes. ***One more side note.... WHY are Hitler's executioners wearing tuxedos & top hats?
  6. So basically he's the greatest Marionette Puppeteer in the history of mankind. Seems reasonable to me.
  7. He's getting about 50 points of articulation out of his puppet by using 2 strands of webbing.
  8. Miles Morales had to buy his Spidey Costume at a Halloween store.
  9. Magnus, funny panel. I'm curious about the context. What did he just eat or drink?
  10. If those small tears are "sealed" by the glue then it'll get a purple. If you open those tears back up so the glue isn't performing a function, then I believe you will get a blue label with notes. In my experience, when you detect a little resto there is a chance for more resto, so really give it a once over for CT or possible trimming.
  11. I don't think these are as difficult to find as you think. Just punch "El Pato Donald" into an ebay search and you will see many come up at very reasonable prices (some from the 1940s) I chose these 3 because the cover art looks to be original and not a copy of any US version. I think I paid $10 each for them. I also like that they have more than Disney Stories inside. I think these came out weekly so there are probably about 2000 different issues. The GCD doesn't have photos for the complete set. They only have one of mine so I should send them photos of the other two.
  12. If I'm buying a coverless Superman 1 I really want to see the splash page, and the spine, and the staple area. It's all completely hidden by the repro cover. I understand what the owner was trying, but it doesn't work for me.
  13. What a horrendous mistake CGC made! Also, Henry Cavill has a really weird signature.
  14. World's Finest 140. Clayface is cornered by Batman & Superman. He changes into the form of Superman AND SUDDENLY HAS ALL OF SUPERMAN'S ABILITIES!!! There is no explanation given, just boom... he has Supe's powers. If that's how it works why not just take Superman's form for every crime you want to commit? Pretty lazy writing.
  15. I guess I am in the minority here. I thought it was just so so. I'm glad I saw it, (something to watch during a pandemic) but when I saw them set up the sequel at the end I didn't get excited at all.
  16. Buscema rocks. His figure drawing and covers were my favorite of that era. But yeah.... lazy/no backgrounds.
  17. I also like the "Made in Japan" on the hammer.
  18. Thor 236 (this is the first Marvel comic I ever read as a kid and LOVED it despite these ridiculous panels) The Absorbing Man is beating the snot out of Thor. Thor retreats into a toy store to evade him but Creel finds him. Thor holds Mjolnir out to protect himself and Creel snatches the Hammer to "absorb" the URU metal. Unbeknownst to Creel, Thor has switched his hammer with a cardboard toy hammer replica (hence retreating to the toy store) so when Creel punches Thor his arm accordians up. When I was a kid I actually loved it, but..... COME ON..... Creel grabs the hammer and doesn't realize it's cardboard??????
  19. If Sgt Rock were on the raft he would carefully leap onto the torpedo, and maneuver the fins so the torpedo turned around until it was heading back to the U-boat. Rock would then leap off before the torpedo hit the U-Boat. All of this while smoking a cigar. Wait.... did he smoke cigars, or is that Fury?
  20. Why waste a torpedo on a 2-man raft? That's like swatting a fly by dropping an anvil on it.
  21. I can't take my eyes away from this video. What the Hell kind of fish is that? Is that a catfish?
  22. Yup, and only 3 days late. That's quite a hangover.
