  1. Wow at 1275 and still with 5 hrs to go. $1300 with 40 minutes left. This is insane!!!!!!! GPA: 5.0 - March 17 = $619 GPA: 5.0 - June 4 = $950 This current 5.0 is at $1300 which means this comic HAS DOUBLED it's price in the last 4 months.
  2. Here's the before and after shots while I had it. 7.0-7.5 seems about right. There's residual creasing that will probably keep the overall grade down. Still not sure why somebody lopped off the BC like they did. Yeah the original cut was just so disappointing, but I got the book for a good price. Regardless, you really did an amazing job Kenny! Thank you! It's such a bizarre cut to have on a comic. Are you sure it wasn't a bindery defect? I had Kenny meld a masthead onto a remaindered comic and CGC only gave it a "moderate" resto label so I think you're only going to get a "Moderate". Great looking comic. I'm jealous.
  3. Good Luck with the grade. CGC has been grading tougher on both restored & unrestored. Did Matt think it would get a "Moderate" or "Extreme" Resto label? Let's hope it can get a Moderate.
  4. I love seeing Kenny's work. He's the man! Is he going to be able to get the paper colors to match better?

  6. Nice copy. Welcome to the club. I remember when this one finished at auction thinking what a deal the winner got. This one might be begging for resto removal. Can you tell how bad the glue on the spine is? I would think that with resto removal this one could attain a 1.5-2.0 Blue label.
  7. I never trashed anyone's comic, I'm fine with that comic. In fact, as I said at that time, I hoped it was going to do well at auction. I compared my Archie 1 to that one and said mine looked better. Again, I was upset (or maybe just jealous) that mine was graded a full grade lower.
  8. Only 18 Pence copies in the census compared to 942 US copies. Highest Pence copy in the census is a 6.5. You've got a very rare book there. These Pence copies WILL have their day. You were smart to pick it up.
  9. The 8.0 EP restored is on ebay right now. Will HA have one in their next auction?
  10. 7 copies now accounted for on the boards. CGC only has 35 copies on their census. It would be cool to account for them all here.
  11. Welcome to the club BaltimoreLauren. If this was a competition you'd be winning. CGC Unrestored: 4.0 OW-W... BaltimoreLauren... Page 6 3.0 OW.......... 143ksk................. 12. No that wont happen again. I posted photos because I had just gotten my Archie 1 back from CGC and I was a little upset with the grade I got, especially when I compared mine to that one, both before & after resto. I was so stoked with the amazing resto job that CCS performed on my Archie 1 that I was shocked that it didn't at least match the 8.0 the other had. I thought mine looked nicer so I was a little upset. Truthfully, I had a rough year with subbing my comics to CGC. I think we can all agree they've been a little tighter on their grading this last year. Unfortunately, I picked the wrong year to submit the majority of my comics so I was disappointed with about 85% of the grades I got. Having said all of this.... it sure would be nice if any time you bought a restored comic, especially "extensive", you could see a before shot of the comic.
  13. It sold for $10,755 in the HA auction not $9000. But I guess maybe it didn't sell if it's up on ebay again. How does that work? Can sellers decide not to sell once the HA auction is over? Or can sellers put minimum reserves on their own items? Or did the seller actually bid on his own item? I actually thought it went a little low in the HA auction (I was thinking it would go for $15k-$18k) but many board members thought it went for the right price considering the amount of work that was done to it.
  14. Those are amazing. Do we get to see the back covers? Is the yellow streak in the 1st photo on the comic or some kind of photo glare?
  15. Awesome material. Fascinating. It would make for a really good documentary. The timeline of this period is fascinating with the backdrop of war in Europe. I can't believe they only gave the "Superman in the parade" a tiny rope to hold onto. He's super high in the air and one quick braking from the float driver would have turned this publicity stunt into a disaster for DC comics as their "Superman" could have been killed or maimed.
  16. The indentation always seems to be rounded like it was under a heat lamp or something. Do they use some kind of heat source to seal the comics?
  17. As high as that is, you're going to be celebrating in a year when 6.0s are going for $2200.
  18. I will never buy PGX again. I bought a TOS 39 PGX 5.5, cracked it out of the PGX slab and sent it into CGC and got a 3.5 (2 grades off!!!). I also bought a DD 7 PGX 6.0. When I cracked it out of the slab I discovered a coupon had been cut out of it with no mention of this on the PGX label. Bad, really bad. Dishonest. Stay away.
  19. Here are my two higher grade ones. I don't like the little flaw in the LRC of the 9.0 but it is otherwise outstanding. I don't like the page quality on the 8.0 but it is pretty nice too.
  20. How about 111? 2nd Dr Strange. Seems like the prices are super low. A 9.2 sold for under $1000 this year.
  21. I'm going to bet that I have one of the smaller "hoards" of this comic (only 14). I'll bet there are a few guys out there who have over 50 copies. Is anyone hoarding ST 115? The origin issue? I've got a couple, and am starting to think about getting some higher grade copies.
  22. I love the book, and I got it raw for about half price. But I've seen so many of these that are graded higher but don't look as nice as this one. If I ever sell this one I may crack it out of the case first and call it a 6.0-6.5. I think many people would agree.
  23. I'm a little disappointed in the grade on this one. It's really quite nice. The woman who sold it to me raw let the piece of tape closing the mylar touch the front cover right under the "P" in "Paste" (she did this right in front of me.... I knew I shouldn't have let her take it out). It's a really tiny color loss, and the rest of the cover looks really nice so I was kind of shocked that it only got a 5.5. It seems like every front cover of this issue I've ever seen has had bad creases that show, but this one has virtually no creases and has a great spine. Look at how dark the inks are on it compared to the one to the left. You can barely see the Wizard because the inks are so dark.
  24. Are you selling any of them at this time? No, sorry,in fact I'm still buying when I can find one I like.
