  1. If anyone can "unbrittle" the pages then I think your book could go up in grade. That brittle designation will probably keep it at 1.0
  2. Here's what I ended up with. Sturdy. Will fit about 25 boxes. Wife is happy.
  3. I don't mind them creating a good work environment, and improving moral (with Pizza), and all that stuff, but this Economy TAT fiasco is a "Black eye" for CGC. Just eliminate the tier if you're never going to work on it. "working days" is a deceptive number once you get to 200. Let's be frank..... it's basically a YEAR. Oh..... and make sure everyone washes their hands after Pizza.
  4. "Alright... Gather round all of you new hires. Today we're going to do something I call, 'grade as you go'. See that giant stack of comics marked 'Economy'? I want you brush the dust and cobwebs off of the pile and... Have at it! In two hours you'll all be experts. I'll be back at the end of the day with some Pizza & beer for everyone."
  5. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Very helpful.
  6. I bought a thinner version of this one. I'm spray painting it white (my wife wants it to match the trim). If I find I need more shelves later I'm sure I can just pick up another.... they seem to be pretty standard sizes. I'm going to use the suggestion of putting masonite over the wire mesh on each shelf.
  7. It took me a while to figure it out too. They don't make it easy, and it's insane that our orders fall off the regular submission page after 8 months. CGC, get a programmer in and change that!
  8. My 8/11 Econ sub is still at SFG
  9. If you scroll down there is a box that says "Download Submission detail". When you bring that up it will tell you the status. But...... lol, Econ will basically be stuck at SFG forever.
  10. In the grader notes they called it "chews" on this. No trimming.
  11. My wife wants me to organize my long boxes by building a shelf unit in our spare room (I've just got them on the floor right now.... and I admit, it looks messy) I'm pretty handy so I know I can build something nice, but before I design something I thought maybe there's something out there that Home Depot or Lowes already has. I only have about 6 long boxes right now, but every once in a while I buy a collection. The most I've ever had at one time is 18 long boxes. I think a shelf unit that holds up to 15 or so long boxes would be good. Any thoughts?
  12. Oh man..... did you feel screwed? You lost a lot of money then. What was the Plod note?
  13. I personally don't think it was trimmed, but....... they must have detected something
  14. It doesn't matter if I find the label or not. I fully took it out of the inner well to press it (dumb move on my part in retrospect). Once you remove it from the inner well all bets are off. They regrade... and they found the bottom cover was trimmed on the second go around. It sucks, but at least it wasn't a $20,000 comic. I seem to remember a JIM 83 high grade having this same issue. The buyer dec ided to do a CPR on it and it came back as a PLOD (trimmed like mine). The buyer probably lost $10,000-$20,000 because of the PLOD and was super upset (understandably). It was very embarrassing for CGC, cuz it caused a big hubbub. There's a thread somewhere on the boards about it.
  15. I may have, I'd have to dig thru some stuff to find it. Here's the before and after pics. I should have left it alone. It was a loosely graded 2.0 so even with a press I don't think it would have improved, but still, getting a PLOD hurt.
