  1. Thanks guys! :acclaim:

I'm still seriously thinking about putting together a Gernsback run (Apr. '26 - Apr. '29). Unfortunately, sources for high quality Amazings at reasonable prices are drying up, but occasionally pretty copies do pop-up on ebay.

When you guys start discussing Astoundings I'll post my images of those (mostly Campbell edited years); I'm much closer to a run of those.

  2. Just got back from meeting with the guy selling his grandfather's Amazing Stories. He was an interesting person, an unemployed astrophysicist that tutors college students at the University of Arizona here (his grandfather was a chemist). Due to the lack of jobs in his field, he's finding himself having to sell these books, though there are some that he won't part with. A nice guy and fun to chat with about the history of the books. I ended up purchasing three from him today, the two I asked about earlier (Aug and Sep 1926) and the other is March 1928. I'm no expert, but the page quality on these is fantastic, IMO. There are subtle flaws in the examples he brought with him, but overall looked very nice. I do plan on picking up some more from him on a gradual basis since I don't really have the capital to make him an offer on all of them.

Here are the three I picked up today. The first one is pretty beat up, but the other two are pretty tight. I loved the cover of the 1928 issue.

Nice snags, Annihilus! I've always liked Paul's work on those Martian war machines. (thumbs u

  3. Only slabbed two books from the large collection I picked up. But it looks like I picked two winners!

The 9.4 Junior is a double cover AND top census book. The Phantom Lady #13 (#1) 9.0 has off-white to white pages :)

    Congratulations! :applause:(worship)

Absolute winners! Beautiful Foxes that are tough in those grades.

 Oh, and BTW, your Phantom Lady #13 is tied for highest census...

  4. maybe not the classic 'Buck' but certainly a fine cover (image from web)

(thumbs u Colorful Paul art and the only issue of Amazing sporting a Buck Rogers cover. Nowlan's first Roger's story (August '28) isn't cover featured, but the anti-grav cover on that earlier book is killer. :headbang:

If memory serves, this issue was next to last Gernsback edited Amazing. I have a nice copy of the March '29 issue in my collection and will eventually get around to scanning some images.
