  1. Sometimes they even flame, ...but that doesn't make them any less manly men! (thumbs u Disclaimer: Apologies to all of our Japanese brothers and sisters now suffering one of the worst natural disasters in history. We love our vintage books and art, but WWII propaganda is what it is and must be appreciated given the context of the times.
  2. Awesome Cap, Frisco-man! A tough book in grade. Speaking of Timely acquisitions, I pulled the trigger on this raw Schomburg classic while at WorldWide less than 24 hours ago (VF/VF-). I'm still having trouble sizing files on my new scanner, so here is the original scan from Matt & Stephen's site: Enjoy!
  3. Dali would have made a great comic book artist. (thumbs u Awesome surrealism! That one's a ...
  4. That's OK, David - "oversized" is quite appropriate in this case. Thanks!
  5. Apologies in advance for the oversized scan, but I'm still learning the ropes. I know some would probably prefer my latest acquisition laid on the pool table, but this should still pass pier review. Cheers, David
  6. Gorgeous book, Rahigh (really rich colors); on a par with my 8.5 Lloyd Jacquet copy!
  7. True, and you're probably thinking that I can get a padded cell for nothing, but it will probably cost you $500 more to have that Boscov's chair hailed to the dump several weeks after the purchase, ...provided it lasts that long. Let's see, ...Eames chair or comic ...Eames chair or comic ...Eames chair or comic C'mon Bill, an Eames lounge chair isn't much more than one of our beloved 10c comics!
  8. Beautiful collection, Bill, ...and kidding aside, very nice couch too. (thumbs u What you need now is an authentic Eame's chair for the ultimate in personal relaxation while reading those FUN puppies (trust me on this). Thanks David. It's a sleeper sofa too for geeks that need a place, near comics, to crash. Which Eame's chair do you recommend? Sorry it's taken me this long to respond but I've been away most of the day. I recommend the Santos Palisander finish with with black italian leather (this one is like the one I purchased from Design Within Reach in Dallas and had it shipped; but here is the Amazon description) http://www.amazon.com/Palisander-Recliner-Lounger-Matching-ottoman/dp/B001AVPAWQ What I like about the Eames lounger is how it fits in with just about every decor while retaining an unearthly elegance, ...and talk about comfort! Oh, one other thing: unlike most other furniture, Eames retains or increases in value (NOT the knock-offs; Herman Miller is the only licensed manufacturer). BTW, that's a remarkably humanitarian gesture providing a restful place near comics for geeks to crash. (thumbs u

  10. Wow, nice batch of Fun! BTW, how long have you had that Rooms-To-Go couch? Raymour and Flanigan And it is a new addition to the comic room

  12. I feel like my poor attempt at a jest just might've contributed to slowing this thread down a bit (how's that for irrational paranoia!), so let me try to prime the ol' Timely pump again by posting a bunch of scans of my Torch books (most of these have been posted earlier, either in this or other threads, but there may be a few surprises). What the heck... I promise better scans soon (sans pool table); at least you'll get to see more detailed images! (thumbs u
  13. BEST find of All??? Alas, I can't recall the episode (I'll look for it, but no promises), but I came across an interesting scene on the television series box sets of the old early '60s crime drama NAKED CITY which were out four or five years ago. It's been awhile, but there is a chase which I recall stops for a few moments in front of a NYC newsstand. Lo and behold hanging in clear view is the prominently featured SA comic that recently sold for $1.1 million! I'm sure you know which book I'm talkin' about! (thumbs u Cheers, David
  14. It's a bird...it's a plane...it's "Gator". There can be no doubt that Mr. Gator is a man of Action!
  15. there have been many in that same realm... heck, I know of an action 7 purchased for $20 (many moons ago)... I picked up a $12K for $3K 2 years ago...it happens from time to time where HUGE profits are available, but it is the exception, not the rule...too much information available these days, if folks bother to do the research (thumbs u Picked up these two books back in December from different ebay auctions (the MM was an underpriced BIN)... ...under $1K total (yes, that's for both books; no, I'm not kidding). Yes, good things do happen now and then (it's all about being in the right place at the right time).
  16. Super awesome. I love seeing high grade copies of this book and they don't come around very often. Thanks for posting again, Gator. (thumbs u Early Timely's are just awesome, period. Thanks for the repost!
  17. I don't see how Alanna could have tan lines based on what she's wearing! Nice book, namisgr! (thumbs u
  18. Thanks Surfer! Love the Marvel Mystery too! That's a nice upgrade, feller.
  19. Thats a great book. Not too many of those around either Nice Mummy books too. Bronze age Yeah, those Subby/Torch battle-books are tough in any condition!
  20. Those covers are very cool, Surfer! Hey, if this is "9.6 Day" I'd like to join in, ...can I, huh, can I, please? Actually, this baby was delivered several weeks back, but I forgot to post the new arrival in this thread.
  21. Dear Gator, As a dapper fellow and an environmentally conscious swamp-hugger are you inclined to wear real Italian shoes or side-step that sensitive issue with the knowledge that Italians are a constantly renewable resource?
  22. Thx oakman ..... This book has been elusive.... Nice pick-up Senormac! I can honestly say that Plastic Man #10 was the very first GA book I purchased from a comic dealer. Great interior art and stories and a fantastic cover. Congratulations. (thumbs u
  23. but with full runs of young men and men's adventures, even the pre-hero stuff, i can hardly stand them down! also, i need to get this book in the thread---it's my new fave church representative in my little set. Beeee-eautiful Raboy cover on a virtually flawless Church book. Congrats, Billy!
