This is what I don't understand. As someone who used to work in law enforcement I can tell you that this whole thing is absolutely criminal at this point. I also don't buy the "well the cops won't take us serious because it's comic books" take either. We are talking 10s of thousands of dollars here.

You are definitely right about this.  The US Postal Inspection Service would work this case with the high dollar amount in losses and mailing stolen property.

I forwarded all the information compiled through this thread on the victims to the contact at the Oregon DOJ.  I’ve called her twice and it went to voicemail but I sent the information via email today.  I will stay on that person.  I’ll keep everyone in the loop.

The victims should also call that number and leave voicemails for her. :bump:

    Latest email from Oregon DOJ.

Wasn’t that LLC dissolved and another one set up already? So should a complaint be made against the new one?

edit: a post on page 12 links to the filing (HRC OREGON LLC)

Thanks.  I will call the contact on the letter to advise her of the other victims and the other LLC.

What needs to be done to turn this into a criminal case?

A summary of total dollars that this guy has stolen.  Local law enforcement will not take piecemeal losses such as my 2k.  If we can get a total dollar loss for the victims including books that haven’t been returned then maybe the US Postal Inspectors will entertain it.  50k and up would be a good start.

  5. Fed Ex is a big letdown.  I dropped several books to CGC at the New York Comic Con in October.  I was pleasantly surprised to see the books move through the pressing and grading process very quickly and the books were shipped back to me on 11/3.

On 11/6 they were supposedly returned to me at my apartment building in New Jersey.  I saw the shipping online while I was at my job. I noticed a strange name signed for it (SSMITY).  I have no idea who that is. I returned home in the evening and the books were nowhere to be found.

I called Fed Ex to report the package missing. They opened a case but then closed it on 11/8 stating that the package could not be found and I should contact the shipper reporting it lost. They were very matter of fact when I called them on the phone to complain.  The bottom line is they don’t care!

On the other hand, CGC Customer Service were professional navigating me through the insurance process which will take 30-60 days.  I’ll never use Fed Ex again.   I’d much rather have my books!!
