The good news is that according to him (though his buddy - please don't kill me on this one) people have gone to the police, and it is firmly on their radar. He's saying even if you got back your books (in whatever condition) if you lost money STILL GO TO THE POLICE! For those with 'trust issues' Here's a snippet (didn't include who posted it because it was a DM)
Just to clarify the above post. I’m friends with the original poster of the thread from the spring of 2023. DeChellis returned my FF 5 but stole my 2k. I filed my complaint with the Oregon DOJ. Nothing happened for months but I was recently contacted by them (not the local police) and they informed me that they are taking a closer look at the case due to the combined high dollar loss in this crime. Many of us have filed with the Oregon DOJ. Of course there is no guarantee that anything positive will happen but we have to try.

This is what I don't understand. As someone who used to work in law enforcement I can tell you that this whole thing is absolutely criminal at this point. I also don't buy the "well the cops won't take us serious because it's comic books" take either. We are talking 10s of thousands of dollars here.
You are definitely right about this. The US Postal Inspection Service would work this case with the high dollar amount in losses and mailing stolen property.

Sorry for the loss of your friend Bob. Was he a life long collector and what books did he focus on if you can tell us. It seems like so many younger people are passing away from cancer.

I forwarded all the information compiled through this thread on the victims to the contact at the Oregon DOJ. I’ve called her twice and it went to voicemail but I sent the information via email today. I will stay on that person. I’ll keep everyone in the loop.
The victims should also call that number and leave voicemails for her.
Latest email from Oregon DOJ.

Wasn’t that LLC dissolved and another one set up already? So should a complaint be made against the new one?
edit: a post on page 12 links to the filing (HRC OREGON LLC)Thanks. I will call the contact on the letter to advise her of the other victims and the other LLC.

What needs to be done to turn this into a criminal case?
A summary of total dollars that this guy has stolen. Local law enforcement will not take piecemeal losses such as my 2k. If we can get a total dollar loss for the victims including books that haven’t been returned then maybe the US Postal Inspectors will entertain it. 50k and up would be a good start.

On 11/6 they were supposedly returned to me at my apartment building in New Jersey. I saw the shipping online while I was at my job. I noticed a strange name signed for it (SSMITY). I have no idea who that is. I returned home in the evening and the books were nowhere to be found.
I called Fed Ex to report the package missing. They opened a case but then closed it on 11/8 stating that the package could not be found and I should contact the shipper reporting it lost. They were very matter of fact when I called them on the phone to complain. The bottom line is they don’t care!
On the other hand, CGC Customer Service were professional navigating me through the insurance process which will take 30-60 days. I’ll never use Fed Ex again. I’d much rather have my books!!
On Tuesday 11/14/23 the box containing my books were left outside of my door. The packing slip stated “Not at this address.” I’m not sure where the box was since 11/6/23 but I’m grateful to have the books in my possession.

Heroes Restoration has been a Ponzi Scheme for more than a year now. I was lucky enough to have my FF 5 returned (without the work I paid for) but he stole my 2k. I’m one of the lucky ones.

I did get my FF #5 back but no refund on the 2k I paid him for restoration services. I hope every collector that submitted books to Heroes has their property returned. I still consider my case unresolved and every other customer who did not receive a refund. A terrible situation for all customers.
Hero Restoration, Anyone know the latest?
