  1. Four copies sold last night in the Clink auction:

    CGC 6.5 OW-W (old label) = $33,120

    CGC 4.0 W = $10,349

    CGC 3.5 OW-W = $8,379

    CGC 3.0 OW-W = $7,501

    Maybe it is me, but these prices (while still strong compared to two years ago) seem to be down a tick from earlier in the year. Is this my imagination?

    As they should be. the 6.5 seems strong tho.
  2. Rick, whats your opinion on the top 5 most expensive books in the hobby???

    Are they all Tec 27/ A1s or does the cap 1 9.8 AA16 9.6 slip in there?

    I feel the 5 more "valuable" known books in the hobby are

    Mile High action 1 (raw)

    Allentown tec 27 (raw)

    9.2 w page tec 27 (cgc)

    9.0 w page action 1 (cgc)

    9.0 c/ow page action 1 (cgc)

    the 9.8 cap 1 is pushing the top 5 for sure.... the 9.4 aa 16 wouldn't even make top 10...

    Interesting, I figured as much. As for AA16, not even top10? It has scarcity on its side. I would assume its a million dollar book for sure.. Cap 1 has picked up major steam, so I was wondering if it would grab the 5 slot. I guess he has more work to do on the big screen.

  3. Finally joined the Elite clubhouse! Took awhile, But I got there! No writing, Date Stamps or Marvel Chipping and solid page quality! It'll be here in a few days.

    By any measure that it is a mighty solid copy. Congrats. :applause:

    +1 Clean Spidey is all that matters to me. All the wear is on the edges. Cant beat that!
  4. My newest and current keeper copy, the best combo of wrap/PQ/gloss etc I have ever held in my hand from the couple dozen copies or so I have seen in person. The picture doesn't do it justice.

    Unpressed, probably goes at least 5.0 on a straight resub under current standards(maybe even 5.5.)

    2 full points have happened twice on mega keys for me. I have a feeling this is a 2 point jump after a press. It has to have some major back cover defects to hold it down.
  5. Movie hype question (that has nothing to do with ST110, but has DS169 so I thought I'd put it here).

    Question: If someone gave you a choice of a 9.8 copy of:

    Doc Strange 169

    Ms Marvel 1

    Marvel Preview 4

    Which one would you take?

    Doc Strange 169 of course (because you're reading a ST110 thread).

    It seems like it would be a slam dunk, but the surprising thing is, value wise MP4 is equal to DS169 right now and MM1 seems to be gaining fast.

    DS169

    9.8.....census = 30 copies.........value $3500

    9.6.....census = 72 copies.........value $1100

    MP4

    9.8.....census = 42 copies.........value $3300

    9.6.....census = 42 copies.........value $1150

    MsM1

    9.8.....census = 50 copies.........value $2650

    9.6.....census = 175 copies.......value $600

    Can MM1 keep climbing? You know that within a few months we'll be seeing many more 9.6 & 9.8s on it's census.

    Can DS169 keep growing in value? I think so. And it's high grade census numbers aren't going to change all that much.

    MP4 kind of surprises me. In my personal collection I could never keep my mags in good condition because of their awkward size. And yet the census shows more 9.8s of MP4 than of DS169.

    Of Course it's nice to know that ST 110 trumps all of these. And is still climbing

    I can't even guess. I'm still baffled by the prices for these books.
  6. the comic market caps at a certain level because most high rollers don't collect comics. unlike on sub million dollar books where you can get multiples based on a small grade bump, unfortunately on mega expensive comics the dollars and interest in the books falls short well before the assigned grade. you have a relative small number of WEALTHY comic collectors to begin with and then an even infinitesimally smaller group that have millions to throw on comics (i could count them on less than two hands).

    if dave anderson was offered $5 million for his AC1 it was stephen fishler who offered him that amount. nobody else in comic land has that kind of cash (much less interest) on hand.

    this tec27 9.2 won't go for anymore than 9.0 AC1 did several weeks ago.

    Don't be so certain that other members of comic land couldn't pay $5 million or more, if they were so inclined, for Dave's comic

    show me some evidence. right now there is none.

    :facepalm:

    Harvard has insight into everyone's bank accounts/liquidity.

    This guy supposedly graduated from the Harvard Business School. Yet in another thread he showed he was ignorant of the fact that China began adopting a market system decades ago.

    The rise of the Chinese economy has affected every aspect of business -- from finance to marketing to management to macroeconomics. No one who actually completed the Harvard curriculum would be unaware of this fact.

    My suggestion is to ignore this buffoon.

    His posting style and attitude reminds me of Harold Fuller.

    Maybe he did visit Harvards campus once or twice.. Another good possibility is he was in the movie "How High" with method man and redman as a prop. So then technically he did go to Harvard.
