  1. Reawakening this thread with my 9.8 received yesterday. Paired with my 9.6 copy. Jewels in the treasure chest.
  2. Hi, thanks, Kevin! My first GA was a classic Superman, so I'll probably pick up a Batman next, or maybe a pre-code horror book. Really depends on what pops up that catches my eye.
  3. Oh, hello! That 211 win was me! I couldn't resist owning a GA Frazetta, and this cover is a favorite of mine for him. Oddly enough, I'd never owned a Golden Age book in 40 years in this hobby. And this book is the second GA book I've bought in the past couple months.
  4. Nice books in this thread. Here are the few I have in my collection, basically due to being a fan of Terry Moore and SiP....
  5. Set tracking at HA, thanks! Betting it was one of the 5 Jeff gave in the Kickstarter from last year. What's the 9.8 record -- $13K? Will be curious to see if this reaches that height again....
  6. Got a few more Mark Jewelers recently, some minor keys....
  7. Loved this one from a week or two ago. Guess this homage is going to pop up more and more as popular as it's become.
  8. Didn't see this Marvel Tales cover in the thread yet. Not the easiest to find in 9.8 condition. Picked it up recently.
  9. Here are my Modern grails. The fact that they're all borderline Copper is probably significant in some way.
  10. Not as much as the Marvel ones, but I've noticed more medium-value early DC books of his going up too, whether ASS47 or random Infinity Inc books. B423 appears to be carrying his early Batman books higher as well. Granted, I'm only looking at 9.8 books though, so unsure of lower grade copies.
  11. Love last issues. I was eyeing that last issue of the Droid series in the auction last night. Hugga will come around eventually! I'm actually constantly surprised by the prices some Star Comics receive. Granted, they're often 1st issues like you said. Like the Madballs 1 that sold for nearly $800 last week. All issues of Masters Of The Universe and Peter Porker are pretty popular as well. As for Heathcliff 12, I think all of the Marvel 25th Anniversary frame covers in the Star line are going to continue to increase in popularity. That H12 shocked me last night though. I thought I had a strong shot of getting it with my $257 bid. Turns out, I didn't even get halfway there! Also, some random covers can become popular such as Heathcliff 47 and Care Bears 13.
  12. Gat dang! Heathcliff #12 in 9.8 sold for $600 on ComicLink tonight! https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fdefault.asp%3FFocused%3D1%26pg%3D12%23Item_1554058&id=1554058&itemType=0
  13. My first TMNT issue that I bought off the stands was issue 6 when I was a kid in the 80s. Issue 5 was one of the first comics overall that I ever paid a more-than-cover price 'premium' to have. I think I paid something like $10 for it at the time when I saw it displayed on the LCS wall. It became the jewel of my young collection. I was giddy. As for the first four issues, I just longed for them, could never imagine ever being able to buy first prints of any of those originals, as they were already waaay too expensive for a kid. Heck, I never even saw them anywhere, only pictures of them in the ads or magazines, but never in a store.
  14. I loved going to this one newsstand store in Brunswick, GA growing up in the 80s. They always had a bunch of Marvel Age comics stuffed in their magazine rack that I obsessed over every time I was in there, so I've always had a soft spot for that series. You can imagine my delight as the series became recognized as having several key books in it. Here's one of my faves of course:
