  1. Dave bought a FF 72 from my FF sales thread. Very nice to deal with. Always great to meet another Canuck on the boards! Thanks Dave!
  2. I bought a lot of Captain America's from Michael and I couldn't be more pleased. Tightly graded and bulletproof shipping. A real pleasure to deal with and I would not hesitate to deal with again. Many thanks Michael!
  3. Just getting caught up on some well deserved kudo's... I bought a beautiful Avengers 55 from Robert about a month back. Very tightly graded, bulletproof shipping and friendly service. I would not hesitate to buy from Robert again. Thanks Robert!
  4. I bought a small boatload of books from Andy's recent sales thread. I can only echo what others before me have said. I think the only way I can describe this transaction would be to say that is was scrumtrulescent. Yes.. scrumtrulescent! Absolutely awesome Andy! Superior grading, packaging and an all round nice guy to deal with. It doesn't get any better. Thanks!
  5. I posted yesterday that I felt sad for the kid and this would sum up why. Maybe I should have said pity, I don't know? I had the good fortune to have wonderful parents but where would I be now had I grown up in this environment. That doesn't excuse the kid's actions, he will need to take responsibility. It's not until we take responsibility for ourselves that we step into adulthood. Unfortunately, I don't think this kids father is leading him anywhere. That is sad!
  6. I seem to remember at least a few people responding to him by saying 'you must be young or something'. Quite a reveal.
  7. I have been keeping tabs on this thread off an on at work all day. Just got home and caught up on ten or more pages. The suspense is killing me...
  8. I checked the GCD and it says the artwork was lost in the mail as opposed to late.
  9. Hi everyone, I received a PM about the lot of Conan's I sold earlier today in the Gold/Silver/Bronze section. I had stated that the cover for Conan 22 was the true cover for 23. (I also made the mistake of saying 'first Red Sonja' which obviously wrong, I meant to write that beside Conan 23) I should have been more clear. The Cover for Conan 22 was indeed the intended cover for 'The Shadow of the Vulture', the first Red Sonja story which of course appeared in 23. If I am not mistaken, Barry Smith was running behind on the artwork but the cover had been turned in so at the last minute they went with a reprint of Conan 1. So with Barry's story in hand the following month, Conan 23 was published with a cover by Gil Kane. Interesting I think that Red Sonja's first comic has two different covers. As, I had stated in my sales thread, I had collected this group of mid-grade Conan's for a binding project. My intention would have been to have the Smith cover (22) go with the Smith story (23) and I probably would have kept the Kane cover for the back of the book.
  10. If I had to guess.....he got a higher offer via PM It is stated clearly in his rules that the first wins. The only way to beat Wipples would have been to post the sale via PM with an earlier date stamp which is clearly not the case.
  11. Can I ask on what basis you assume that a "no" vote equals support for scammers? You're just kidding, right? Not kidding Who wouldn't want to try to make the boards a better/safer place for sales by implementing some tighter rules with all the NOOB sellers/buyers around here in the past few months who can't take the time to read the rules of the forums, or try to scam someone out of money. Maybe giving a grace period to these new people will allow for the proper time to learn some board etiquette before buying/selling? Also, adding a waiting period for new sellers who are trying to scam may eventually drive them away from here because they don't want to wait weeks to be able to sell since they are looking for the quick $$$ from those people who are caught off guard. It also forces them to interact on the boards by having a post count and gives the rest of the community a chance to get a feel of who the boardie is before deciding to buy from them when they have 1 post. So having a different opinion means I support scammers? How about looking at it this way. Someone who BUYS from someone with 1 post might be supporting a scammer. Someone who posts with one post might be an honest seller. Someone who buys with one post without spending time to check out the boards might be a gambler. You can change the "one" to "200" if it helps you. Someone who reacts to how others vote with such a strong reaction might be over-reacting a tiny bit? I'll stand by my first suggestion last night. We should not allow anyone to post until they have been here for 2 years. Makes as much sense as some of this other stuff, and it's MUCH more likely to protect new people from their own enthusiasm. (yes, I'm joking about the 2 years, but think about the consequences;) Let me clear this up, No I don't think everyone supports scammers who voted no, it was more of a smart way of saying that it comes across to me like 40% of people don't think there is a problem in the sales forums. I know I've been deterred from selling or buying from a lot of people because of the increase in sketchy sales threads on here in the past few months. It would have sounded more reasonable to have said that 40% of people think the sales forums are fine the way they are. To my mind I would think the percentage is higher than that.
  12. +1 Well said. A bank keeps getting robbed every few weeks, but let's not vote to make the bank more secure, makes sense to me... Go back and read Ghost Town's (Barton's) replies and tell me how that could be taken as support for scammers.
  13. Awesome...! Are these regular magazines, or oversized (like a treasury)? I haven't bought a copy in years, but I seem to remember them going to a larger format at some point. And...just my luck...I'm bogged down this week and can't get to a comics store... Thanks for posting this, I will get out to pick one up!
  14. I posted this link in another thread about Kirby months ago but no harm in posting it again. This book is a great read for the Kirby fan. It's a bit academic but that's a good thing. An in depth analysis of the fourth world is something I dreamed of reading about. Also, a great analysis on the the who did what debate regarding Jack and Stan. Anyways, I post this here because I think you guys would really enjoy it. http://www.amazon.com/Hand-Fire-Comics-Kirby-Artists/dp/161703178X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390702473&sr=8-1&keywords=Hand+of+Fire%3A+The+Comics+Art+of+Jack+Kirby
  15. I bought a few raws and a FF 159 slab from Bob's bronze age sales threads. One of the top sellers on the boards. Always a pleasure to deal with. Thanks Bob.
  16. +1 I always feel like I'm a buyer in a sellers market and a seller in a buyers market.
  17. ^ what show is this from? It looks late 60's early 70's..... Bill Nader SNL
  18. Once again, I bought some outstanding books from Barton. Shipping is bullet proof and arrived quickly. Beautiful books! Always a pleasure to deal with! Cheers Barton!
