  1. The books that were offered inside the box were UXM 303, UXM 307 and X-Men 11. The mail away form could have landed you any one of those or UXM 297. From what I understand, the 297 was only available via the mail in coupon. I'm still not sure if you were guaranteed one of the books in the box. Let us know how it turns out! Arrived today... Had X-Men 307 inside in fantastic condition. No idea what it's really worth... The BiN on the only copy on ebay is $55. Apparently it's one of the harder to locate? I thought it was a 9.8, but after scanning it, I noticed what looks like a printer crinkle along the top edge. Not sure if CGC would ding for that nor not. It's almost imperceptible in hand; almost like it was there prior to printing... The pics are hotlinks to bigger scans if you're curious. Like I said in the other thread... I also found a high grade X-Men #295 Pressman variant when I was at the storage unit the other day. So it looks like I have both the #295 and #303 variants. I think you mean #297, not #295
  2. Always a pleasure to deal with Dre. Upstanding and honorable - i almost never hesitate to purchase from him and can do so in confidence. He has supplied my GFT's 9.8's and other random raw and slabbed books.
  3. Finally have something worthy of posting ... look carefully at these ... Avengers #77C - Newsstand Error Variant and ... Uncanny X-men #423C - Newsstand Error Variant ... Sorry about the camera flash ... i'm not a photographer. Methinks these books speak for themselves ... Matt
  4. I'm pretty sure they were distributed with Pressman board games. Not sure how many were made, but they're hard to find. The dudes over at STL have a pretty good understanding of what the Pressman variants are ... here's a thread for you to read about them. STL Comics Pressman Info
  5. How about selling one? ... like to me? PM me ... ?
  6. You are doing fairly well selling your #1s etc. from just looking through a couple of long boxes Brian. Note to MattP: If you need anything in particular, ask Brian first before you go looking elsewhere. He seems to have an endless supply of all kinds of good stuff. Thanks Cheryl, we're PM'ing now. I appreciate all the help from everyone on the boards ..
  7. I should have bought it when it was $1,500. Sweet book, Cheryl. So you are a watcher??? I expect I won't have many at that price. Yes it is a sweet book - and Jerel sold it to me about 2 years ago - YES, he actually SOLD me a book. Can you believe it? All this great talk about such a prize. Well, i felt jealous, and just went to ebay a plopped a buck fitee on a Locke & Key Special Edition Welcome to Lovecraft #1. NM+. Off to get the cert as soon as it rolls in ... see what happens when these conversations get going ... i feel the need to spend dough. Now if i could just find someone to let go of a Cursed PG #1 SS or #2 SS ... the cycle of life would be complete ... you are welcome! Haha ... wouldn't cha know it? I think i'm startin' to get ahold of the whole ebay / collector's board interaction here. ...

I bought one on the boards end of last year, but I'm not ready to give it up... yet. I'll keep you in mind if I ever feel the urge. That's all I ask.

  10. ' Maybe...maybe like 3 copies. Maybe. Sorry, so which one was this? Link pretty please?
  11. NOT RIGHT NOW.... Jerel made me change it. Taking offers! Hah ... so you're selling it (next time i'll look at the sellers name first .. ) . Nice. $2500 is lot of bones... that's like ... 5 cases of my 2008 vintage. Wanna trade? ... not champagne though, just very high quality red. It's okay Matt.. It IS a lot - right now it seems like alot - but I can see it going for that later this year... easy. You can tell that I really don't wanna part with it - testing the waters. Getting people used to seeing the crazy high prices for these. I didn't think my 9.8 would sell for $425 when it did either. You just never know who's looking and what they are willing to pay. Fair enough and totally makes sense. I'm sure someone will pick it up! Heck i'd do it, but i've got some other... wants ... right now - just waiting for the right price. Still ... a real beauty.

  13. So, on the subject of signed books ... check this out .. http://cgi.ebay.com/LOCKE-KEY-1-FIRST-PRINT-Signed-2X-1st-CGC-9-9-SS-/160569531276?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2562b09b8c#ht_840wt_1139 Here's a question - worth $2500? I can get a real nice Hulk #181 for that ...
  14. If i'd known it was him, i would of bid higher!
  15. No way this sells for less than $100. Right? I would be amazed if it did. Cheryl is a strict grader, so this book would have had to be perfect if this hooked a ride with her Alpha Flights to Sarasota. Haha ... i lost. Guess someone really wanted it ...
  16. Yeah, just can't justify throwin down this coin ... i want to, but i'm going to wait for a bit. http://cgi.ebay.com/LOCKE-KEY-1-CGC-9-8-SIGNED-EDITION-JOE-HILL-SCARCE-/250787223776?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a641558e0#ht_1100wt_1139 I'll throw a pic up later tonight when i get home ... I'm thinking they should add a couple of pussycat icons to the selection, eh?
  17. I've decided to hold off on a few of these books due to the 'heat' they're generating. I did receive the IDW two volume set with that cool book in the sleeve featuring the extra story. Looks like a 9.6 to 9.8 as far as i can tell ... want me to post a pic? BTW, nice cat.
  18. So ... I read through this thread and decided to contribute since i saw BeachBum's very impressive X-men 9.8's. The following are what i have encountered to be the most challenging (i hate the word rare) and are primarily Uncanny X-men focused .. First up is UXM 245 JCPenny Stridex Reprint - You would think it shouldn't be that hard, but i've only seen two on Ebay in the last 18 months ... not expensive, but interesting. Next is, again, UXM 297 Pressmen. I personally didn't find this that overly hard, rather, just expensive. Took me about 6 months to track down a NM+ copy. This was a very suprising one for me. UXM 320 non-deluxe... the Deluxe versions are all over the place, the Non-Deluxe took 9 months to find. I kept seeing it on Ebay, but i'd get the Deluxe version in the mail instead. the Sellers would just say "oops" ... i had to purchase 4 copies before the seller actually sent the right copy. It sucked. This is a classic ...i've seen it a few times before, but not in high grade raw like this ... my estimate is 9.4 to 9.6 ... i just need to get off my @$$ and send it in. Last two ... I swear it.. and my absolute hardest. Avengers 77 Newsstand Error Variant and Newsstand Issue. I have only been able to indirectly validate that *seven* of these copies exist. ... and my jewel ... I can only verify that *five* of these exist. Not to say that there's more out there, but i only know of 5 copies. I'd say this is a 9.2 to 9.4 ... i'm afraid to send it in ... i don't want it to ... er ... disappear. I final shot of all the books together ... including a UXM 320 Newsstand (pretty hard) ... Note the wine ... BTW, i have an extra copy of UXM #245 Stridex in case anybody is interested ... Matt Edit: I know a couple of these books aren't the correct time period, but i just wanted to post once ...
  19. I see a blue one on the left and a grey one on the right. I had my eyes fixed so methinks they're working ... at least sort of. ...
  20. That comic was included with the IDW First 10 Years Hardcover. There's only 1 of those comics listed on eBay right now and it's listed at $90. You're better off just purchasing the Hardcover which you can get for $50-60. Ding-Ding. Yes, they come in an inner cardboard pouch with the hardcovers. Out of the seven sets, I bought most were damaged. I only got two as 9.6 worthy and CGC grade one as a 9.6 . My friend Cher got one 9.8 with hers. They come scratched, spinal stressed up, dinged, and finger dented. Their condition is highly unusual for IDW books. I gave away all my IDW sets to friends afterwards to get them interested in the title, so it wasn't a toal loss. Yep, that's how i just bought mine ... right off of Amazon, $52 brand new. I'll be curious to see the book and it's condition in the inner sleeve... besides, the seller of that $90 seems a bit dubious since his other items are all very hard to find books and his feedback score is very old.
