  1. What's the latest GPA sales on 7.0s to 8.0s ? Has this book slowed down the past year or so ?
  2. What grade is your #28 (the tough black cover) ? Would love to see a scan of that one!
  3. I know the Guide is way out of whack (more like outdated), but should this book be worth than Vault of Horror#12 ? Both are important issues, but the CS#22 seems to have a cult following solely for its cover ?
  4. price has been dropped to $12,500 Did it just get relisted now for $12,700.00 !?!
  5. OOAW#83 6.5 Because if it's CGC'd, then you're getting it at a good price around the $3K range. This book is tough to come by.
  6. http://www.ebay.com/itm/130638518427?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 Did this White pager go off at a good price, or does the range vary dramatically for this book... especially for higher grades ? This sale seems like a bargain compared to some prices realized in 2011 ?
  7. http://www.ebay.com/itm/350524447366?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 Did anyone follow this offering ? Seems like a good price to pay if you're looking at getting a full run and not particular about grades. The #1 alone is probably about $2K, so even if you average out 150 issues at $50.00, the whole package looks like a great buy for the winner. Obviously, some of the early and key issues are definitely worth more but can't really put a price on the time saved in trying to hunt down 184 issues! Getting them all at once is a pretty cool achievement.
  8. Did you see the ASM#5 9.8 on Doug Schmell's Pedigree Auction ? Bidding got up to $90K ! .... but reserve was not met ! Now, that is just getting greedy and absurd... I would have taken about $85K and ran.... I guess the seller is holding out because as of now, it's the only 9.8.... but there's always the risk that the minute a second 9.8 comes onto the census, the value (potential) of the original plummets. A solo chart topper doesn't last as long as it used to, especially now with the combination of miracles in pressing and inconsistent grading by CGC!!! An ASM#35 9.8 surfaced last year as a solo chart topper in the spring, went for about $30K, but then a second 9.8 appeared a few months later. Don't think you can get that $30K on the first one again !?. The market has become a gamble in these instances as some high-end spenders want to be the elite collector with the only copy, but it's become only temporary on many books. The AF#15 9.6 went through the same cycle - there's two now.
  9. Sorry to go in a different direction with this thread but on the collection side for DC War books .... are we noticing a change to the access of inventory ? ... ie. seems like more books are coming out the past few months than in years past ? I just saw another GI Combat#68 get listed on CLink today, and OAAW#81 are being offered for sale in all grades now. These books hardly came up for sale for years - do others think now is the right time to sell as the market for this category is starting to heat up ? There are still some tough ones out there though such as SSWS#84 and 90, OFF#45, etc.
  10. Yours deserves to be a 6.5 if not 7.0. Did you ever find out what the GCG graders notes or comments were ?
  11. There are two 6.0 white pagers - or one 6.0 and one 6.5 ?
  12. nice! obviously there are still some nice raw ones out there to be found. Anyone ever see a slabbed White Pages one yet ? I see mostly CRM-OW, and the harder to come by OW-W but any WHT pages out there ?
  13. May see a couple more 8.0 coming out of the woodwork if those holding the 7.5s and 7.0 are willing to go to PRESS (and then sell). This might be the theory as to why the prices are the why they are. Seems like this is the way the industry is going in general, buy a grade, cross your fingers, PRESS and sell at a higher grade. Again, DC War has a bit more stability because there just aren't that many issues to begin with for speculators to buy.
  14. Don't know about that ... considering what happened at Heritage with the 8.0 .... everyone is going to be looking for lower grades to fill the collection. I think any cgc 6.0 + might be a minimum $10K asking price. It's become the new GL#76 for 2011/2012!! Except the GL went down, while the OAAW 83 is more rare and stable.
  15. True that first Rock is a tough book to get, but I'm thinking Sgt Rock is not a household name (?).... and it's such a strange market with us war collectors ! .... Is this price sustainable in 20 years or is it just a crazy bubble in the short-term ? I'm thinking a B&B#28 (1st Justice League) or Showcase#22 (1st GL) in 8.0 is much more solid in the long-term. Proven characters in the broad sense. On the other hand, I can appreciate those elite collectors who want the high-end OAAW#83 since it is the holy grail of DC War, so they will pay through the nose for it. The 4.5 on C-Link should go for at least $2K if it's that tough a book that hardly comes around.
  16. OAAW#83 cgc 8.0 for $17K ?!?! at Heritage I know the DC war is kind of a niche market, but this was a hefty price. This is the second best one out there, but for the long-term is this really blue chip and reasonable ?! Understandably, a first Rock doesn't come up for auction every week (less than 50 cgc'd)... but to think X-Men#1 at 8.0 can be grabbed up for "only" $12K these days and may be more of a staple in the long-term collectors market (?) Just a thought. Sorry, I was just stunned by this one.
  17. Aside from fire and flood, I was wondering if storing CGC books in a SDB would have any negative affect at all versus a raw book ? Isn't a CGC book vacuum sealed into its protective case first, and isn't this material better than mylar ? I know it's far from a perfect science in removing all air and particles but exposure should be less than a raw book right ? If the book is no longer exposed to sun and if the bank is climate controlled, aren't most of the elements (mainly humidity) minimized now ?
  18. I got the 8.5, I was surprised to win it, nobody else bid on it in the final 12 hours.... not sure if I paid too much, or the market price... whatever that means on this book. It's definitely a keeper for me either way, happy to have got one one now, no need to look anymore.... I gave up trying to get a 9.0, 9.2. etc.... prices are getting out of hand (ridiculous?) on those. There's one 8.5 on e-bay right now for $380.00 but doesn't have the eye appeal of this one.
  19. Scary to think what the other two books above the 7.5 would go for IF they ever came of someone's collection and be put up for sale !! I thought $9,000.00 give or take for a CR-OW 7.5 #83 might have been a crazy number already.... I know they are few and far between, but the final price being closer to 5 digits is insane. One of the #81's sold previously was an 8.0 with White pages. Overstreet is completely out of touch with the market on DC war in my opinion. Or this way have been a one-off anomaly.
  20. Couldn't agree more with this perspective ... the 9.4 - 9.8 market right now seems to be fueled by the speculators / dealers looking to flip in the short term. The 8.5 to 9.2 market is much more stable due to COLLECTORS buying to hold onto the books, and the pricing of the book fits into the space of: a person who wants to depart with the book / has stopped collecting / needs money and the buyer is someone who is buying something he likes / needs / wlll cherish. Seems a lot of HG books are being snatched up at 5x 9.2 prices and then showing up next week on another site for 10X 9.2 price - one speculator is crossing his fingers hoping the next speculator will bite ... and so the vicious cycle goes on...until the speculation collapses - didn't this happen in the 90's with new issues ??!?!? Perfect example in recent times is GL#76 CGC 9.6 - this book can be bought for half of what auction prices were about 9 to 12 months ago. Nobody held onto this book in the past year, it kept on flipping... and flipping... and flipping
  21. A 4.0. sold on Sunday at Heritage for $1,673.00
  22. Yes, your research and list is very much appreciated. I'm on the hunt for a mid-grade #1 myself and your info is very helpful. On another note, I started a thread in the forum about the true value of GPA, or lack of.... if it doesn't include CLink sales. CLink sales is a huge part of the market but GPA reports on only a limited part of market sales, I don't even use it when trying to figure out the market for books like X-Men#1, it's way behind in its data and timeliness.
  23. Pep#22,26,36,41 Archie#2,3, Annual#1 Yes, I have the Archie#1 !
  24. I collect the old Golden Age Archies. Looking for the some key issues, especially from the Pep Comics line. Prices are getting crazy....
