UPDATE: I sent a message to the seller I bought the scanner from on ebay, I told him about the scanners problem as well as the video and he stated " a gear must have been displaced in shipping". He also said that he's sorry and that he's going to refund me the money and that I could keep the scanner!

It's working with the lid open and I can't be that mad, I paid $70 for a $400 scanner I figured something had to be slightly wrong with it. It would probably still cost cheaper to get it fixed than buy a new one. Key word being "probably".

Yeah that sounds just as bad as mine. Mine doesn't do it when the lid is open though.. I don't feel like sending it back though cause shipping would probably be half of what i paid for it anyway.

I guess I got what I paid for. I don't mind scanning with the lid open but it definitely seems like it would give out after a short while.

Omg! I envy your collection!

So the Ebay Hp 8300 arrived today, only weird thing about it is that after scanning the "roller" (not sure what it's called) gets stuck and makes a loud obnoxious sound. Only when the lid/cover is closed. If I scan while the lid/cover is open it scans with no problem. Not sure if I should return it or not. Scanned at 300 Dpi

Just picked up an Hp 8300 off of eBay for $70!

Is there two different Hp 8300's cause the ones I've seen so far don't look "legal size".

I wish I really had that kind of money. But that would cause the comic market to collapse cause I'd buy all keys and release them when I get bored..one by one.

Just bought this even though it looks just like the regular version.

Today.... ...I decided to scan all my books and just make my registry sets just more organized! It definitely helps as a list and makes me feel competitive! I got my first ribbon as well on the Batman & Robin (2011) set, even though there's only two other sets on the registry. (I'm not even really trying to collect Batman & Robin books though) But still happy about the ribbon! Off to more organizing and collecting! Thanks for reading! You could just get Slab-Pro UV protectors for each individual slab if you're worried about that.

Love those DC statues! I wanted to get the light for my "Detolf" but I don't like how there's no way to hide the cord.

What size are these? On Amazon they have everything from 3" to 9". The ones I bought from Michaels were either 8" or 9".
