  1. 1st sentence. the pickup comprehension point is an analogy is not a business Model.
  2. This is almost a mimic of the beginning of the CAC Model.
  3. He was right, though....and was ahead of the game by a wide margin.
  4. Finally. I appreciate that you understand my previous commentary. Now on to the theoretically but no current or historical information: I assume you mean for comics, and the present encapsulation model. I agree, and the reason is it has not been tested, and the previous encapsulation product (utilizing Barex, IIRC), has also not been tested in final form/usage and then evaluated against current encapsulation product. However, there is ample historical information that supports contamination via gassing/heat/improper combination of the Copolymers, to include moisture contamination emanating from the point of manufacture...be it a result of vapor transmission form the flooring construction or HVAC system and/or...the other previous aspects I have mentioned. I think we have a meeting of the minds, and a partial understanding if nothing else that there is work to do, and merely stating it is natural we can not do anything may not be a good business approach.
  5. 4th Party: the economic gods......that control everyone else that exists..
  6. 2008. CAC comments. Same. 2018. The has left the table.
  7. That is exact working hypothesis, and hidden benefit to the overall community, wheter the 4PG is used or not. And is the equivalent as rampant in comic collecting? I have assumed so for the last few years, based on reading posts here. To be more precise, a 4PG assessing a 3PG (also the working definition I used).
  8. 2008. CAC comments. Same. 2018. The laughing has left the table.
  9. Yep. We don't know. Blowing it off, though, is a mistake. A big one.
  10. It is modeled on CAC. Having total recall of the 2008 events, and the in depth discussion ( which is when I presented the term making a market as a working model) CAC wasn't in a position to do so immediately, either, because the PCGS network Dealers had to first be assembled and on board and understand the sight unseen/sight seen buy back offers. It took abot 2 years of the gnashing and snarling of teeth and the attack dogs being calmed down before the concept value was a bit more clear. The efforts of Ms. Sperber and the attacks on, and calling out, the coin doctors and displaying the value of CAC, was a giant leap. PCGS had a few ups and downs about some of their graded pieces, but even that was a good thing, because quality improved. Same with NGC. No 3PG wants to consistently be consistently under question by the collecting community. A mistake here and there? Sure. But overall quality improvements? Leaps and Bounds, and one of the reasons is the 4PG is always there and has become the accepted quality control expert. Like it or not, that is the present market.
  11. However, you do not know if microscopic residue is on the book, due to contamination resulting from the cause of the Newton Rings. The closest analogy I can present is AT, because it is a chemical alteration that is difficult to detect, very difficult ins some cases, that over time deteriorates and has a negative eye appeal result. There is an assumption that the rings are a stable issue, yet the cause of the rings is not settled at all, and the quantity clarity of the rings varies quite a bit. Yes, I want a 4pg opinion, considering the 3PG states it is normal and there are alternative reasons for the rings.
  12. What if scientific analysis indicates a contamination caused by the rings, that leaves a microscopic residue because of the breakdown of the composition of the encapsulation, or a seal failure caused by improper sonic sealing and that allowed airborne contamination of the encapsulation? Remember, what the 4PG is being asked to do, and the 4PG is making a market, i.e. an offer to buy that which has been 4PG assessed as a green or gold sticker.
  13. That is the problem. The book can't be evaluated clearly for eye appeal, due to the Rings, and note that I stated "possible contamination....because of newton rings". This is the essence of 4PG grading. Book doctoring? AT?
  14. Setting aside my blatantly obvious words, I do have a question. Hypothetical (maybe not), concerning the existence of a 4PG, and the possible value to a comics collecting community. You have an encapsulated comic. A 3PG grades it a 9. It has Newton Rings. You send it back. It is encapsulated again, with the same grade...a 9. It has the Newton Rings. The 3PG states it is normal. You send it to a 4PG. The 4PG does not sticker it with a "green", which would be agreement with the stated grade. You call the 4PG to discuss it (the existing "coin" 4PG will do so), and the 4PG explains to you there is a possible contamination issue, because of newton rings, and eye appeal is significantly reduced because of the Newton Rings. What would you do?
  15. I hope this isn't Stu....it may be a long couple of days........
  16. OK. I don't know what "History is numismatics exist" is referring to, but no problem. You win, though. The "um" won me to your logic posit as the correct conclusion.
  17. I thought is was "advertiser". Or is that the point? I admit to being a bit dense.
  18. Economics is economics. Human nature to seek assurance is the same.
  19. I understand. You may have a different opinion in a couple of years. Or not. I don't have a dog in the fight. I am not in any manner connected to the 3PGs, 4PGs or any grading company (at this point of my life). The collecting habits are not different. The propensity of collectors (human nature) to be "assured" about their holdings (insurance/investment etc.) is not different. 4PGs are touching any worthwhile economic collectible base. Whether a collector cares or not is a personal issue. That will not stop the change coming to the collectibles market.
  20. They can not put them out of business. They certainly could not do so if they attempted to start a 4PG involving any semblance of control. that would be a death kill. Every comment so far dismissing the idea of a 4PG was voiced back in 2008. All have proved to be incorrect. The coin doctors virtually disappeared.
