  1. Once upon a time..... Just kidding. There are few threads about the subject, including a bit down the list from your thread on the first page. The best advice I have is read up on that ans any others, and you can have the basis to form an opinion that may be of more value than anything else. I note you signed up in August last year. You may have just missed references to Newton Rings during that time.
  2. Not even your dinky appendage? , because you never know around here.... My mother used to yell at us boys when we were in the tub: " MAKE SURE YOU SCRUB YOUR DINKYS!! " (must have been an Irish thing, I guess. I never asked). God, I can even remember, about 11 or so, having getting kicked in the groin in a wrestling tussle. It hurt. My mother took me to the Base Hospital. The Physician asked what was wrong, and she said "his Dinky hurts". I was so embarrassed. What really scared me was the Doctor seemed to know what she meant, because he said "lower your trousers and scivies, and lets take a look". I thought: Doctors call it a Dinky, too?
  3. That is it. EVERYBODY is on the mental ignore list. Signed: Francis.
  4. Around here, get over it. The wabbit is poof. That is it. Gone. In a Box (or not). Stop whining.
  5. Joke alert...Because (as usual) you never know around here. I usually post that little jokey thing, but sometimes what I think is obvious isn't. I wouldn't know a short box from a long box, much less how many comics are in each much less how much each one would be worth. I just try to add a bit of ambiance and a mutual target that everyone can fire at, when I post. It is what I do. I do know how to read numbers, though....... Because you never know around here.
  6. Joke alert...... Because (as usual) you never know around here.
  7. Don't forget Social Security and Medicare. A pretty good return, considering the years of life and payout vs. the contribution.
  8. You just went up a bunch of notches, with me. Not that it matters to anybody but me.........
  9. I am a strong Believer in Strip Club Philosophy and Wisdom, myself. Not that I want to debate it, but still.....
  10. The poor guy....even his Attorney didn't know what he did. That is Class. I put him right up there with the cleaning lady that ran British Intelligence Services for umpteen years and nobody knew it. Mr Ditko missed his calling. He should have been running NSA or CIA. Good for him. No lookitatme in him. Got to admire that.
  11. Seems like something that should be passed on to the investigating LE, if this is an identifying factor.
  12. Given the latest attention to the issue on these Boards, I am more inclined to state: Good for the customers and Board members that are proactive Nothing happens in a vacuum, in such matters. The "decision" was response to proactive questioning, including yours. That is a good thing. It means management is listening.
  13. Don't be silly. But, since you ask, yes. Errors/counterfeits/wrong planchets/improper thickness that does not support the PM composition of the piece, and double dies vs. mechanical doubling, calsh marks, all a result of "pressing".....squeezing the planchet between the dies, if you will.
  14. That is incorrect. Read the statement on the website. Try to get your mind off the color-green. it is not the point. That is a color that CAC uses, BTW. We have 10 years of a Model to explore...CAC. That is exactly what is done. 10 years in the Market is not failing in 20 minutes. Nothing wrong with that. I doubt you would be able to find out on this very forum. There is no testing Model yet. I think you are maybe concentrating on the encapsulation, and not the reasons for the rings that could lead to the deterioration/contamination. The 4PG may have a criteria for determining this, or may not. The 3PG may already know, or maybe not. That is the issue. The present situation is: They are natural. There is nothing we can do about it. However, there are reasons for the Rings and a number of those reasons are a possible and potential negative effect on the comic. Rings just don't magically appear and poof, don't press them and hold the holder in a different angle and everything is fine. That is not an answer, much less a plausible solution that assures the collecting community.
  15. The Market. And the market has certainly said something in the historical Model we can examine known as CAC.
  16. Hypothetical are not glaring flaws. It is a hypothetical. The aspect of contamination was not mentioned at all by Mr. Fahrenheit, until after the Hypo, and my mentioning the subject on 8 occasions. To his credit, he has acknowledged same. The last time this happened, no other considerations as to cause were discussed. Do you think such visible anomalies just happen, without a chemical reaction...or physical reaction..... or contamination action? press 2 pieces of plastic together and wham we have rings. Did you think about testing why? If the Newton Rings became an issue on a very valuable comic you own, to the point of physical deterioration of the comic and visible reduction in eye appeal...superior or not, and you discover it was a gassing effect/sonic weld fail/moisture contamination, etc. are you going to state that you were told it was natural and in your world it isn't an issue? I do not think you are addressing the hypothetical in the spirit and manner intended. The idea is not winning, it is exploring the aspects. The idea is not...well, that never happened in my world. It is what if it happens in your world.
  17. I had the uncanny same thought at close to the same time as you.
  18. 2008. CAC. Same. 2018 CAC. Collectors are profiting from it.
  19. BTW, have you had time to think about the hypothetical question I presented to you?
