  1. If he wants to do this when he's older, I hope he keeps at it. Don't let him lose the dream.
  2. Here are a couple recreations taken from Cap and FF covers. I haven't used pens in many many years. It'll take some more practice to keep my hand steady and reduce the need for such bold lines.
  3. FYI... My Favorite Avengers Artists have always been John Buscema, John Byrne, and George Perez The book that remains among the earliest of my childhood Avengers memories is the one where they find themselves on a melting Earth (it's in your sig). I need to move that one up on my priority list. I can't really remember the storyline. I think I remember the Squadron Supreme was involved. My 5 favorite Avengers (in no order)- Thor, Vision, Captain America, The Beast, and Hawkeye. My 5 least favorite Avengers- Mantis, The swordsman, Dr. Druid, Gilgamesh, and Reed Richards. My favorite Avengers Villians- Ultron, (Super) Count Nefaria, and Korvac. And more pics.
  4. I've been meaning to stroll into this forum for some time now. No time like the present. While it's not my main focus, I love the Avengers. I've building my #1 thru #200 for a while and thanks to Sam, the collection grew quite a bit recently. I won't post my entire collection, but I'd like to share some of my favorites
  5. I've had my "entry fee" for a couple months now.
  6. Very proud of this one. Part of my first CGC sub
  7. Bought this from Mike Royer's personal collection (he didn't ink them, he just owned them). All 12 issues from the run, + a duplicate of issue #1 & #2. Not bad for never being in a boarded bag. Also got all 31 issues of the '89 run. Won't scan those (thumbs u (<<< . . . ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... .........................IMG]http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff397/DarthOminus/RoyersTHESAHDOW11.jpg[/img] .........................
  8. When I was 10 years old I played with my 12" toy all the time EDIT: Oh. It was a GODZILLA I got when my family vacationed in Hawaii.
  9. Sweden, actually! (thumbs u Well, I own: Brazil, Finland, France (plus a TPB from France with the same cover), Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden, with Norway, the UK, Denmark and Hungary in the works. I still need to find: French Canada, Canadian Price Variant, Czechoslovakia, and Mexico. After that, all done oops Finland was only word I could read Sweet collection you got going there (thumbs u (<<
  10. Finland, wow! How many countries for this title does that make now?
  11. It just seems to lessen the sig somehow (for me). If someone wrote "Joe Shlabotnik's comic book" in it the note would be the same. Being in a case means no one will see who really signed it. I think I just answered my own question of what I should do. I'll ask him to sign the splash pages tomorrow and then put them in my Gem Box, but will submit something else. If he goes to the San Jose, CA con next may, I'll bring them and ask him to sign the cover. If he doesn't, life goes on. Thanks for the comments, Sal (thumbs u (<<<
  12. Well, I'll be! Thanks, Sal I did not know that. But does the label still refer to it like "Word [or] Name written on..."?
  13. We live in the same town. I met him last week and he signed some books I already had. I also bought some art from him. Going to see him again tomorrow to buy some more. If he signs these, it will be in his studio. He's going to be at the Con in Portland, Or this November, but I won't be able to make it
  14. Just came in the mail this morning. I'm definitely going to submit the JUSTICE Inc. books for my CGC collection. I just need to decide if I want to have the inker/letterer sign them, making them green labels. That wouldn't really bug me except all the green labels I've seen say "Words written on cover [or] front page." In this case, Since Royer inked the stories on #3 & #4, not the covers, it would make more sense for him to sign page 1. What to do? ..................................................................... ..................................................................... ..................................................................... .....................................................................
  15. I think so. Nothing new to offer, but I'll attempt to get it going again. This barely qualifies, but I did draw it freehand, so it's artwork. Next?
  16. Not done yet He has a lot of his freelance Disney work. It's nice not having to pay shipping fees
  17. Sweet books. Where did you meet him anyways? So that's why you wanted the Richard Rae thread. Did Mike comment on the incident? I remember reading the thread shortly after joining the boards and saw his one post in it, where he was setting the record straight in terms of his involvement, which of course he wasn't actually involved. Mike is always honest and upfront that the art he's selling is a light box recreation of a Jack Kirby drawing that he [Mike] inked. Rae was passing them off as something Kirby actually held in his hands and pencilled. Anyway, in his post he closed saying where he lives and it's the same town where I live. I recently was in a book store that sells old comics in a back room and the owner pointed out a TB he had on a shelf that was signed by Mike, and basically reminded me about his living here. I finally looked him up on the web and found his website. I contacted him a few weeks ago and yesterday we met at his home/studio. Great guy
  18. The books aren't new to me, but Thursday afternoon I met Mike Royer, the man that inked them. He signed the covers for me so in a way they are new
