  1. Just came in the mail this morning. I'm definitely going to submit the JUSTICE Inc. books for my CGC collection. I just need to decide if I want to have the inker/letterer sign them, making them green labels. That wouldn't really bug me except all the green labels I've seen say "Words written on cover [or] front page." In this case, Since Royer inked the stories on #3 & #4, not the covers, it would make more sense for him to sign page 1. What to do? ..................................................................... ..................................................................... ..................................................................... .....................................................................
  2. I think so. Nothing new to offer, but I'll attempt to get it going again. This barely qualifies, but I did draw it freehand, so it's artwork. Next?
  3. Not done yet He has a lot of his freelance Disney work. It's nice not having to pay shipping fees
  4. Sweet books. Where did you meet him anyways? So that's why you wanted the Richard Rae thread. Did Mike comment on the incident? I remember reading the thread shortly after joining the boards and saw his one post in it, where he was setting the record straight in terms of his involvement, which of course he wasn't actually involved. Mike is always honest and upfront that the art he's selling is a light box recreation of a Jack Kirby drawing that he [Mike] inked. Rae was passing them off as something Kirby actually held in his hands and pencilled. Anyway, in his post he closed saying where he lives and it's the same town where I live. I recently was in a book store that sells old comics in a back room and the owner pointed out a TB he had on a shelf that was signed by Mike, and basically reminded me about his living here. I finally looked him up on the web and found his website. I contacted him a few weeks ago and yesterday we met at his home/studio. Great guy
  5. The books aren't new to me, but Thursday afternoon I met Mike Royer, the man that inked them. He signed the covers for me so in a way they are new
  6. GPA has it at $675 I thought it was a 9.2
  7. I bought the X-Men book 20 years ago for $35, and it was operpriced by $10
  8. My babies are coming home at last!!
  9. I.F. #14 is still on my want list. Wow! 9.8 happiness
  10. What grades did you assign them? Well I submitted these shortly after I joined the boards. That being said... I assigned Hulk #181 6.0-6.5 (low balled, actually hoping for 7.0 but BC was kinda dirty. Corners were nice and sharp though) ASM #129 5.5-6.0 (never should have submitted it- live and learn. If it's lower I might sell it and try to upgrade) Thor #140 9.4 X-men #50 9.2 (hoping for 9.4) Obviously looking forward to the second two. Just went to their site and they've been graded Hulk #181 got the 6.0 I expected. Wonder what I should do with it ASM #129 got 6.5- Kinda surprises me, but Thor got the 9.4 I expected. X-Men #50 got 9.6 Times like this I like CPG better than OSPG Sweet grades! That was a good submission. What did you buy the X-men as? I can't even remember who I bought it from. It was a mail order in the early 90's, that much I remember because I was still in my first marriage. I think it was from a place in Colorado so most likely it was Mile High. The only thing I'm sure of was that it was called NM and I paid $35, which was something like $10 over OSPG. I would have to say this was probably my best purchase ever in terms of growth. I paid $120 for the Hulk #181 in '89 or '90 so at best I might have broke even, but I think that's being generous to myself. I have no idea what I paid for the ASM #129. I bought the Thor book as a 9.4 two yrs ago The X-Men alone makes me happy about this submission

  13. Hulk #181 X-Men #50 ASM #129 Thor #140 SCHEDULED FOR GRADING!!! Yes! At last! Patience pays off
  14. Forgot to post these here when I bought them. I'd like to thank all my fellow boarders that are helping me build my ASM #1-100 (thumbs u
  15. Bought some early Avengers from Sam this week. Great communication, very friendly. Fast shipment, got them the same week I bought them, and they got here safely and securely. Highly recommend him as a seller. I'd buy from him again, and in fact I am . Thanks, Sam
  16. I've been working on this Capt. America on my breaks. I thought it might be a good idea to take a pic with my cell phone before I either screw it up or grow tired of it. I think I might need to fix the shield. Too many stripes, I think. I might change his facial expression too. If I finish it, I'll scan it and clean up some of the pencil marks [on photoshop] that wouldn't completely erase. Hope you guys like. I've been feeling pretty inspired lately, thanks in large part to you all
  17. I like the layout. Intriguing. No idea who the character is though. It looks like Orko. I think your right..What cartoon was he on? He-Man, wasn't it? Great color BTW. Something I never quite got the hang of, except in my oil paintings.
  18. I should be done with Cap in a couple days. I'm thinking of just keeping it in the pre-ink stage. I always seem to lose interest when I try to finalize the pencils.
  19. Now I'm afraid to I know they're somewhere around here. I keep running across them every few years. One character was "Channel" who harnessed energy from the planet. The other was "Judgement" (the name has since been taken, if I'm not mistaken). A tragic-hero in the tradition of The Punisher and Spawn and The Crow. He arrives moments too late to save his wife from horrible death. He is able to kill the man responsible at the scene, but curses the universe for for the fact that he was just moments away from saving her life. He is then damned to spontaniously transport to the scene of the worst crimes against the innocent moments too late, but in time to take revenge on the guilty. Very 90's
  20. Your grasp of graphite pencils is great. I'm still trying to figure out the right combo's
  21. OKAY, now I KNOW you're just being nice to me Those are SUPERB!!
