  1. I like in the very tiny type...its a reprint from loot crane..or something
  2. 1- Action $1 2 DET #27 3 Superman #1 ( I differ here) 4- Batman #1 5- CaP #1...its just a matter of time 6 Marvel #1 7 AA16 8- Action 7 9 Det #33 10 FLash #1
  3. less than original, great book, what a value for 25 cents....
  4. I can remember buying that when it first came out..at Bob Sidebottoms comic book store in San Jose, what a great book..
  5. I think which company is superior clearly is indicated by the "market prices" that we GA/SA collectors pay. As of today, CGC with the same book and grade will hammer at higher price, and demand wise especially with very high upper end books, there really is only one choice. CGC is KING. I would venture to day BOTH CGC and CBCS like money.
  6. The same thing on real estate who is paying, they are saying seller...but in reality it the buyer cash....
  7. We don't know at the top end whether there were 4/5 bidders or just to two collectors bidding against each other, HA does provide the number of bidders, but that number gets pumped up a bit with the same bidder bidding again, but it still could be a indication as to actual demand, so when you pay the worlds highest price for that book the danger is that you are in unknown territory. Just to break even Batman 1 2.2M it would be 440K additional buyers premium plus possible sales tax and shipping...at the minimum it would take say 2.64 plus shipping to break even...assuming no 200K sales tax. In the past, it has worked out, with Bob Overstreets genius price stepping over 50 years of not letting the market get totally out of control. Now there are no brakes on this price game, Overstreet is not considered a real price point, even GPA is somewhat behind the times, by just reporting what has taken place in the market. Some Books I think have a lot of life let in them, such as Cap#1...384K for the 8.5 is a solid buy, given the book and probably at some point it will be 500K in the next five years, however remember you cannot use the auction price as a cost basis if it being resold on that market, even with a 10% auction premium and shipping it would take $422,000 just to break even PLUS $3,840 to cover the additional premium at 10% on the higher price so break even it would be $425,840 plus whatever shipping costs were involved in the buying of the book. When you bid, at least ADD 10% commission at least, plus the additional 10% of the 10% increase into my calculation, shipping and sales tax costs as what would be the break even point and THEN make the decision to buy with that knowledge, so the book you will hope will go up at least 11% plus shipping must have some potential upswing if you want to recover just you paid for it. If you are a speculator you had better add carrying costs of the loss of use of that money in asset which does not produce income. SO my point is when we see record prices and you buy the book partially as a collector and investor always look at your exit cost. If you are a true comic book collector with resale with no intention of flipping it, making it part of your" permanent" collection you should be safe in terms of recovery of what you paid provided you hold over the 10 or 20 year timeframe.
  8. amazing results today on SA books in todays auction...wow
  9. I think the price point now, will most certainly cause a rise of prices in all unrestored grades of this book, and even single pages, its time if you want the book and know somebody who has one to snag it, as HA.Com is going to spread this record price all over the world.
  10. I do not think by any means we are in the clear from the virus, the economic consequences which we will feel for years to come, the coming great "inflation especially the more the money that is printed and given away and I think we need as a aside to print more money avoid economic collapse, but somebody is gonna have to pay for it at some point and that is gonna mean higher taxs to pay for the great economic stimulus of 2020/21 and this is just the beginning and a major "at home change" of the workplace, the demand for some land of a SFR property for additional workspace or bedrooms for kids coming back home which is creating tidal waves in the housing and job market. At some point in that economic day of reckoning everything, including GA/SA is gonna take a hit. It is a question of when...looking back at the post, I indicated 3 years...possibly 5 and I think we are on target time wise for that financial correction. My advice is still stands, even in 2021...Sell GA/SA with condition, page, staple etc issues and trade up either condition wise or book wise. If you have any restored, altered, or ungraded GA/SA bundle them up and upgrade, that will protect you such that your books will be the last ones to feel any price correction, and survive any price correction untouched or in some reduced manner or form. Given what has occurred in 2020, and now it's early 2021 and hopefully in the virus peak, I would add a additional strategy for GA/SA collecting, and that is go thru you collection, take duplicates, books you don't care about any more, books in which you want in better condition, sell them, and hold on to the money and wait for the inevitable dip in prices or demand or both which is coming. Today in 2021 with some of the prices bordering on insanity or not economically sound or viable our price structure is more subject to larger price swings as opposed to say 20 years ago when Overstreet to some extent had a damping effect on price growth. Time to hold is unknown, and risk that some price inflation will occur but it is something to consider, when any market for example real estate says everything is going up...that is the clue you are in the middle of a price bubble or top of the market and it will adjust, gravity applies at some point. So might be possible to sell now and get better or higher quality material later by selling when the market is strong. 2020 was unique year, same for 2021...it 2022 that I worry about.
  11. You have got to be kidding...TWO persons would pay over 100K for that book?...what am I missing here
  12. WOW.....who in the world would pay 100K for that..first time investor?...You can buy a lot of nice GA/ SA for $105K
  13. This is sort of the "golden age" for all collectables time....But we must remember that unlike most collectables, GA/SA comic book collecting has been steady upwards on price since the 1097's. If you were to ask me why? I would say one name...Bob Overstreet...even today in the jet age on information, there still is a mention or look at what the "Guide" says...and it was not to many years later that they realized that Bob was keeping price tame, or conservative in terms of growth, it was the auctions I believe which blew away Overstreet when its influence diminished . I would be very wary of making any kind of investment in these new card collectables, knowing that Baseball cards took big dip at one time just stamps etc. GA/SA Comic book collecting is a true rarity in the collecting field given it stable price history. What if these new collectors discover comic books......
  14. Eliminating the #1 or #2 comic book publisher of all time...I mean its a negative all the way...they would go exclusively graphic novel at first......
  15. It is a cycle which is normal in our collecting circle, of course it helps that these are the best comics on the planet art and story wise overall.
  16. It would result in a decrease in the ability to get new collectors into our future market, it would also mean less quality material would be published, I hope it does not happen
  17. HA.COM by far, the most reliable company. Never had any issues over many years.
  18. That is the only reason I\\Marvel # 1 t has such a great value is that historical reference point in comic book history, but it does not make it a better book than Cap1...overall Cap #1 content, and art wise is superior in the interior. Cover is a toss-up although a "Hitler" cover premium has in recent years taken off value wise. I think the "superior" book over time will win out.
