  1. that was hall of shame....this is the conforming members HOF such as board member Winston Smith of the 2+2=5...."at least you can see the possibility"...in CAL style right?
  2. I would like to begin, with a short bio about myself and whom I nominate to begin with as member #1 of the CGC Comic Book Form Members Hall Of Fame. I wish I could claim to have been on these boards in the beginning. When I first came on the boards I did series of introduction threads called "Journey of a comic book collector". This gave board members some of the background in regards to where I came from, as both a collector and dealer since 1961. There is a old saying...you had to be there to understand how really beautiful it was, and the early days of comic book collecting, while we were the "Rodney Dangerfield" of collectors...Coins were the King. So I let the chips fall where they may in coming in on the boards and have been on this board every since, every day. Despite 50+ years in the field as a collector, comic book store owner, and dealer...I learn something every day here and thank for the sharing of your knowledge and experience. I would like to send a message to all "lookers" over the years, who have either been reluctant to post or communicate with our great CGC board world. You are missing out, yes it tough, similar to some type of hazing, especially in the early days of the wild Wild West on this board but over the years the mods have become more active. But you will become a better collector, in terms knowledge, new friendships , and eliminating the sometimes isolation we comic book collectors have with the general world as they don't get it. I hope this nominations will inspire other collectors to participate as active members and make out community stronger and more informed. Trust me it is worth it. I Nominate as the first and founding member of the CGC Comic Book Form Members hall of fame: Calamerica I wish to say, there are many many posters that I would put right up there...Robo, Cat, Richard, Gator etc. But my choice above all others is CAL: I have been extremely lucky to a have a phone conversation interview with CAL for one of my "Journey of a Comic book collector" pieces or "Year In Review" that I used do. Cal approach is unique, yet his points are very relevant. There are a lot of meaning in his posts which if you analyze carefully you will be entertained but could lost because of the humor. Cal is a true comic book collector and there is no limitation of what a true collector collects it could be 100 copies if IMSM#1 or FF1. Cal's comeback on the boards in last few days, got me to think about how "fun" these board used to be. It got me to think, it is not just about the the $ or the grade that we are here on these boards. It is because we "Get It'...Kirby FF1 cover , EC science fiction story "My World", or waiting for that third issue of the "Dark Knight" and in this darkest of times we really really need it. Well folks, CAL gets it, with his unique humor, wit, poetry..he is our comic book board "beat" poet of the boards, but with always a message, about the state times in our comic book universe. The E-bay buyers who back out...which translates to who has any comic book honor anymore....how about the days a deal was a deal, is it the $ that is more important or your comic book collector integrity with buyers remorse or is that the state of our society today. Outrageously this so called collector put his own son under. the bus to avoid a purchase. Thank you for reminding us as to what is important. Cal, I understand your frustration with the evolution that "anything" goes in todays business world. Honor should be #1 along with truth, justice and the American way. In 1939 Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel certainly got it right, what was really IS important and at the end of the day is who we have become as a result of our conduct as a true comic book collector and hold those accountable for lowering out acceptable standards of business. I hope you fellow collectors and board members add to this list, and remembered.
  3. BEST THREAD OF 2021...by far, CAL which should stand for CaptainAmericaCAL, the board has awakened the "Sleeping Giant" . We need new perspective, new positive and humorous energy in the most tragic time of America in terms of loss of life. Who better, than CAL to get us thru. I submit to all board members that WE create a BOARD MEMBERS HALL OF FAME.......For those past and present, so that the memory of each...transcending their lifetime will be remembered. Thank you CALCAPAMERICA for your inspiration. I have now created that thread on comics general..please feel free to add to the hall of fame, thanks
  4. How did your Son know what comic book you wanted without knowing that you cannot afford it...I smell the "rat" of buyers remorse and worst excuse ever, and former buyer must have tracking the sale of your book....thanks for the info, and bringing back some "Sanity" to these comic book boards with your epic reappearance. Thank God for Fridays....
  5. I found it interesting to see the complete ff#12 VIDEO when presented to stan lee...he comments about his dialog on exisiting on the original art-PROVE in my mind he did contribute to the creation of the marvel universe on a major basis, but co-creators Diko and Kirby were just as important if not greater.
  6. I would guess for a current 2021 market price with a solid 5 million for the 9.0 with white pages and 4.5 for the other copy with inferior page quality. The 8.5 is very interesting in my opinion it is much more valuable than the 2.2 Bat #1...but its 8.5....not 9 or 9.2, I would put it at a firm 3 million. what do you think?
  7. I checked my local sources reguarding the SDCC. It has been canceled unofficially. Reasons: Legal Liability, Guest attendance as well as fan attendance. NYCC has a Long shot especially if everyone does their part and get the shot, the second shot, and the upcoming supplemental. But it could, be a yearly type thing. Again, we still in the beginning, as last time almost 100 years ago this played out over 3/4 years. I do think on a more upbeat note, that when conventions come back, they will come roaring back with record attendance and spending.
  8. Tarzan first appeared in a Grosset and Dunlap reprint of comic strips in 1929 here in the USA, Also he appeared in Tip Top comic book of the 1930's as well a single issue of Single Series #7, Four color comics also...that is a guess on the issue number. Since this character was created in the USA in 1919 All Story pulp...you might be right about it being the 3d appearance in Britain of Tarzan in a comic book, not here in the USA by far. Still it is something in my 50 plus year of collecting that I have never seen, I would think you best chance of selling it for a top price would be to research for a Tarzan collector who is a completeist, or possible any ERB museum similar institution. That type of collector would not be fazed by paying a above value price.
  9. Tales of Terror ANN1...always difficult to find even in the early 70's but I should have been more aggressive.
  10. I have never seen it before, it might be highly collectable to a "Tarzan" collector as well as a comic book collector. The cover art is certainly unique to the book but what is unusual is there is no price on the front cover for newsstand reference as the price is completely blank. This leads me to believe that this could be quite a "rare" item even amount british comic book collectors. You might want to see if you can track down issues 1/2 if they exist. Since the book was published in 1950 it is over 70 years old, that might prove difficult. I would not under any circumstance sell the book at a "giveaway" price until you have researched it. Cong on the great buy.
  11. I think Wonder Con is dead in the water, also SDCC..the reason being even if you get the vaccine{ and by the way I got yesterday and have to wait 28 days for shot #2}it takes a month to the second shot and that still does not mean you cannot get the virus but mitigate its effects and I predict a supplemental shot down the road hitting any varriants , I just don't see this coming together until Nov of this year. When Disneyland opens in CALIF should give a clue as to when some small conventions should be able to make a comeback.I see a very strong year for Auction houses, E-bay and direct collector to dealer record sales. But when are far from over this, kind of still in the beginning, the real test is gonna be when we start paying all that money which has and gonna printed back and its inflationary effect on our economy
  12. Happy birthday JR...you filled some mighty big shoes with Spiderman #39 ...but you did it
  13. HA website is the best, in the end it might work out the same but I agree
  14. I think ultra high grade SA books prior to 1966 will retain value, the in-between books could suffer some price correction. Some SA books immune like FF1.FF5, AAN1, AF 15 SM 1, 2, 7 etc. I think 1965 or to some extent 1964 would be the cut-off year, yes 1968 was a great year....again buy what you can afford in the best grade possible unrestored with excellent page quality.
  15. I will second that with the 'Blonde" Superman cover...one of in terms of personal Favs of all time.
  16. I would start it at 1400 and see what happens
