  1. " a book selling for guide is not a game changer"....This has already changed the game of perception of value on this board...in this GA form...it is a done deal, when this sale is finished, the whole world's perception is gonna change and the value is going up especially if the news media gets hold of it...the gravity of evolution price of Det #27 cannot be stopped by wishful thinking....
  2. I do not know nor do you know the real ID of the buyer, dealer, speculator or whatever..to say "NO" one will pay sales tax just does not have a real basis of fact.
  3. I think its more like the big 3...a very high grade superman #1 8.0 or above would be waaayyy up there.. due to its being difficultly to find above 5.0...
  4. Even with a sales price say 1.2M with 8% sales tax it would be around 100k..it just goes up from there....dont get me wrong, it is a solid book, but it appears maybe some new speculators have entered the market.....
  5. NO and does not include shipping costs either, can you guess what that would be? cheaper to fly someone to pick it up....
  6. especially after Ha.com tells the whole world about this NEW record price....
  7. Of course we await the final result, but as the prices go up, the barrier of prices points being broken will result in a increased competition for the remaining lower graded copies...more buyers..higher final price at auction. This sale ALREADY is a game changer...the million dollar club was held exclusive to high graded 8.0 and mostly 9.0 copies..this is a significant price barrier BOTH in exceeding the prior price for a Det 27 under 9.0 GA book over 1 million as well as being a full grade lower. Let us not forget, that sales tax is now being charged as well....i expect the next low grade Det 27 to shatter price records significantly
  8. The greatest appreciation will be % wise with unrestored copies, after this sale a number of GA collectors who were on the edge of being about to get say 1.0 or 2.0 unrestored will be toast. That will shift or increase demand for a restored copy of Det 27 thus those prices will increase also from the collectors left in the dust from this sale. If you are a GA collector on the edge and know somebody who has a low grade #27 you should buy it NOW before the whole world finds out that a 7.0 CGC graded copy is now well over 1 million dollars, even if sales price is 1.1 or whatever you still have to add sales tax..up to 10% and shipping which is not gonna be cheap.
  9. A major milestone for a 7.0 book..look for this sale to bootstrap up all other copies especially cgc graded unrestored books..
  10. I think it is as pure a SPEC buy as possible, just like a share of stock or a widget....I dont think you qualify as a true comic book collectors owning 1/100 of Action 1....I dont really think you care other than what the return is at the end of the day....This is just pure return...plain and simple and just think if they start taking key GA out of the market for this division, look for GA/SA price increase base upon greed, not real collector value.
  11. WOW nice catch......and the corner looks a little bent.......9.8?
  12. wow...things to come...speculating a set up.....I hope GA comics do not turn into fractional shares of stock...
  13. WOW that Cap 6 looks amazing...I could see a question regarding the graders notes or condition issues might be very relevant, but what nice book....
  14. I am on your side, that is a major purchase which should require communication. If none is really available then you must take that into effect and DISCOUNT the price you would pay and so be it.
  15. RIP...unique ,loyal, and intelligence..what a package. I salute her and consider myself lucky to have met her. One quality, that I never really spoke about, but thought about was that she was the perfect GA/SA comic book collectors wife..supportive of amassing a tremendous GA comic book and art collection. That, like Action #1 in 9.0 is a true rarity. I remember you taking about her on the boards about how she got you some "GA" presents and let me tell you those speak worlds about who she was and will always be....Some of us GA collectors have spouses or partners who think the money should have been spent on them, some remain silent and very very few go beyond letting us do our thing and actually really encourage and contribute. That is true unconditional love...the best kind. While it is understandable that you grieve for the loss, I remind you that you are very very lucky to have that type of long sustained relationship in the first place. As I have indicated to you recently, that unlike most people who fade with time, but you lucky have a view of her mind and her thoughts which have been shared will millions of readers and she will live on in print forever. If any of her legacy if unfinished or unpublished...finish it, you know her better than anyone else on this planet and I wish you the best for your continued lifetime journey. Best, Your friend, Mitch.
  16. MY top 5 and let me preference this by saying that my top top choice will remain a secret as a new GA board member is bidding on it, new GA collector...lets let him win this one. 1-"Jetta" original art page 1 # 7...classic Dan DeCarlo...classic SF 50's art page, the hardcover Jetta book is one of my Favs...very undervalued page, this only went 3 issues..they are all classic reads, it at like $750. 2-Special Edition #1 Captain Marvel....Pedigree copy 9.6..in the early days of collecting this blew away Captain Marvel #1 as it appeared much earlier ..over the years this forgotten KEY book as been ignored and neglected...a great copy...undervalued and will boot strap up in value in the next big Whiz#2 sale....best $ buy in the entire auction given the exceptional condition and pedigree only. 3-Sparkler comics #9 MH white pages 9.6...what a great book and cover...even if you went back in a time machine, I don't think you could buy a better copy. exceptional. 4-Air Fighter comics v2 #7...classic over, this is MH pedigree and 9.4...I just always like this book and the cover...and this condition you can see why this beats all the other copies by a mile 5-For you early GA collectors I like Funny pages # 10 7.5 and looks like 8,0 minimum 1937...rare....forgotten in this auction..currently at 360..with a guide of say 1000....a steal at say $500-600
  17. that is a great start...sometimes the collecting bug come back to bite....There is going to be some exceptional material coming to market, especially if we hit a long term economic downturn...best time to make a comeback...good luck
  18. WOW..never seen that one before..score!
  19. Kamen least fav....they all seemed the same...
  20. I would second that...the 8.0 is a stronger buy at 2M than 7.0 at 1.3M
  21. It is about time pulps had their day in HA auctions, and I hope this will not be the last, some amazing issues...if this is a regular occurrence you are gonna look back at this auction and say I should of bought or bought more...this is a real defining moment for pulps collecting to expand world wide...
  22. FF1, FF5, and FF6 created me as the comic book collector I am still today, at the time comic book collectors were stunned by the great combination of story and art....it felt like this was clearly something special, in old days the early FF's commanded 4 or 5 to 1 in trade.
