  1. Let me comment on the above. I was at the Con and saw Nick and Mike that Sunday showing the stack of books. I can also confirm that Burrell Rowe did buy the D27/Whiz 2(1) for the record prices as we did several deals together . I suspect...but cannot confirm that the Ha 8.0 million dollar copy might be the SF/TR copy. Just guess here. Much of the SF books were sold by Mr Geber to fund those books...and there was lawsuit that was later settled by the estate....I cannot confirm that C/C got 3 T27 in, But I can confirm that they got one and brought to the Sacramento store and I held in my hands...probably 7.0....... On which is the better 9.4 at this point I would call it even........so its the tied for the second best copy out there.....
  2. He was there at the convention too..and probably saw the same stack that I did.....But he would have some helpful information on what happened down the line......the history of this book needs to be written, but it is what it is 9.4 Cap pedigree...and its a super book.
  3. I love MC#1...its a great book, but Cap has S/K, Hitler cover, more marvel movie mania, and its a better read etc....I respect MC#1...and the Paul cover is amazing but in early days of collecting fandom the only thing that held Cap#1 down was the fact that it was released in 1941...as opposed to "38 for A1 and "39 for D27/MC1. As time as passed the date of "1941" seems about as far as 1938 to. most people still alive. It doe not hurt that the Cap movies were great and money winners all the way. Now with Hitler covers being Hot...I just don't think the old ways of looking at comic book collecting apply today in 2019. Let me give you an example...Red Raven #1 that book was actually hotter in the early days of Fandom, as well as FC#10 Flash Gordon both great books and even FC#9 Donald Duck....But I will say this, trying to buy a Cap#1 from Bruce Hamilton at SDCC #2 or #3 with a guide price of I think $60...I offered $400 and was still turned down. Somebody out there is gonna get a masterpiece with this copy.....GL
  4. This is the THE book of 2019...when looking back at history.......a lot of people are gonna be in the hunt.....I value it as the #3 most valuable comic book with A1/D27 on top in my opinion especially in very high grade.
  5. Have to disagree here, 1-Over graded...that is CGC's call...I agree its a very strong 9.2...clearly the best Cap I have ever seen and that was a long long time ago. 2-I understand about the label 3-missing or gone...there is some real story here...of course I have heard the rumors...just can't put them on the board, lets just say misplaced..or missing for a time..20+ plus years...interesting to see a purchase history of this book and whether a actual insurance claim was made and paid...again..there is a story here....hard to nail down. Somebody knows much more.....and who really cares at this point...it's 2019.....this will be watched very closely by a lot of people...and watch for a new world record price for Cap1... It is a great book, 9.2/9.4, pedigree etc....its worth every penny of 1 mil...and then some.....
  6. My experience happened at the 1972 or 73 Berkeley when Nick brought a stack of GA timely in at that convention and showed me the entire stack. LOOK what we just bought..60/70 timelys including the Cap#1--it looked mint then also. At some point I had heard that his comic shop got robbed..and I would assume those went missing...I don't have the whole story...just bits and pieces of info...but that is the extent of what I remember. Can somebody fill in what happened? I remember Nick saying something about $1 a book or there about.
  7. You could request it...and it depends who you talk too...LOL
  8. Very smart move...But I would think if you were going to spend a Million dollars on a book you would actually go and look at it in person or have somebody who you trust personally inspect it at any of the Big houses also to verify.
  9. it appears that in reality the book could be in between, Photo not that great and Ha tweaks it....my guess somewhere in the middle. Still an amazing book....
  10. The HJ ward in this auction is outstanding, I also like the WW EC cover recreation.....great stuff and I noticed more GC material coming up in the signature auction which follows if you click on it..the other HJ ward which great is among them
  11. This one is for the last 5 years, if this cracks the 1Mil level it will gain even higher respect. I agree it is not a strong 9.4 maybe even a high 9.2 on the grade, still a great copy
  12. 900K plus bp is my guess...or very close to it possible 850K plus BP
  13. that depends if it is a single movie, better chance if it is a tv series...I think the time is right for this...I still see a big upside to the purchase.
  14. I also had an original amazing stories pulp cover from the 1940's and a Pearl Frush pin up painting in the same bathroom....all under glass or course.....the Frush also needed to avoid sunlight.
  15. good news is it was the guest bath and hung along with the title page..so it was not in use everyday..lol...But it is black and white and a good place to avoid the sun...here in Calle
  16. I valued the piece 2019 at 25K on a past post for 2019..given the fact that there is an explosion of new TV/Moives and platforms..so the chances are good it will be optioned and made right...then 25K was the right and solid price..here it was $26,400...if it fades I feel it will always retain a value of say $12,500 or something like that. I enjoyed the piece, hung in my bathroom..LOL for many years and made about 10X the price I paid; when I bought it I did not buy it as Solely an investment and I hope that is the case here for the new owner, its a great piece..win, lose or draw its a privilege to own it...GL to the new owner. I sold it only to help obtain a new more expensive piece( traded up) and would still own it today if not for the necessity of acquiring something I desired more.
  17. I noticed that "restored" books are appearing less in the Signature auctions. Out of all the books there were only 3 purple , All Star 8, Action 2 (slight), and Cap 7 ( slight). Looks like those other restro books are going to weekly auctions.
  18. I think it was prior to that 10.5 million...possibly 11...The total stands...yes 5.4 for a once in a lifetime panting, just like years ago on that Tech 27 8.0 which broke a mil.....it's a record and I think in the next 5 years it will be broken, of course it was 5, then 10, and now 15..so the next one is gonna be 20M...it's coming. I would not be surprised to see another "landmark " Fritz coming next year.....It is still impressive no matter what...the Ha platform is #1 in a 3 day auction setting. It will be very interesting to see the next auction coming up..which the Bray collection of SF art and pulps and some of the best EC science fiction comics every to come to market. At some point, it would make sense for CC,CL or Geppi use their platform...interesting idea..this is a very positive thing for the GA/OA/SA markets..it kind of establishes a "floor". I am very proud to look at today, from where at least came from in SDCC#2 convention. We have cracked not only the average mans prejudices, but now that those stuffy are collections in the 5 Mil range. Some say the wine glass is half full, some say have empty.. I am just glad to be a part of the growing collecting community which no longer is on the back pages but in the forefront of real collectables...
  19. comics and comic art auctions have grown over the years...new world record> $15,201,836.00....how long with that stand?
  20. 'its cracked 15,150,00 could get to 15,200.00
  21. The records continue to be broken...15 million and still a while to go
  22. I believe there is a min bid offer that has to be at least 90% of 300K...I would say 275K....
  23. Here we go....already 14 Mil....here comes the GA
