  1. Let me guess....American Flagg #1 cover art....
  2. Here is the story on the AF#1 cover. I can't remember the year it was close to about one year from its debut...But I bought the AF1 cover AND one interior page---title page from Howard himself for $600 at SDCC. He brought a stack of OA AF with him, there was one particular page I wanted to purchase that he would also not let go. I held that cover for 20 years or something like that and sold it to Joe when he had just joined HA for I think 10 times what I paid, maybe more...I think it was 6k and I threw in couple of other minor pieces. Here is a good thing, when I bought the cover, Howard did not have the overlay material with him...he promised to send me that in the mail and he DID...cool guy. I REALLY really liked the "the stars my destination" graphic novel. In fact until this year I had two prime pieces as I had bought them from Mitch as I had the whole book to chose from and have finally traded them off. It's a great cover, and I have the best taste...LOL I agree, the first 12 issues are amazing for its time.
  3. If Jim was to buy it he would save BP at least...possibly sales tax and shipping?
  4. I find the 4.5 million dollar min reserve and over 5mil with BP and Sales tax on the EQ to be excessive....the prior record I believe was 1.5...2.2 seems decent (2.6 with BP) going in....I really dont see this selling at this price..heck it does not even included shipping LOL...anybody think there is a chance here of this selling for that price? Also a 60K reserve (72k with BP) on what I consider the weakest of all the 3 Carl barks paintings to strange. I think Cap 1 looks very strong...look for a record price at that grade
  5. I have seen the original of this cover from the collector who bought it directly from Geppi...FYI the paintings in real life look a lot better than the photos etc...the originals much more colorful in person.
  6. HA has a really nice copy of that war fury#1 in the current signature auction...great book
  7. It seems all the board talk got the bid to go up on the EQ...it is now 2.2 or 2.64 with BP....
  8. just saw a video linked from Scoop to youtube picturing all 51 books to be given away...sum good stuff...very diverse...
  9. great painting...how about a pic on that I think it was double signature Frtiz Johnny Comet or other comic strip art you picked up at SDCC....now those good board member's who remember the original Robocop movie...one of my favorite parts was the guy on the TV saying now..."I would buy that for a dollar". It seems Richard you were very right to acquire a number of those original art pieces.....before this auction....it will be very interesting to see how much the mainstream media picks up on this record upcoming sale and its effects on other items of his art.
  10. great stuff, thanks for the pics...
  11. always liked those books...thanks for the great images..
  12. should hit around 3.4 million...this could bootstrap up other Fritz pieces...might be a good time to buy from collectors who are not yet aware a record price is on the horizon
  13. I believe the prior record was 2 million or 1.5 after the first painting hit 1 mil...both were Conan paintings and in my opinion superior to the EQ. I still rank this painting #3 or #4. It would be interesting to look at those sale prices and factor in the inflation rate to see how close they would get to 2.5 2019 dollars. I think this will break 3 Million...3.4 is my new prediction including BP and sales tax.
  14. Placed some early bids in....a lot great stuff...hoping for at least couple of wins when this is all said and done. I like the Cap1 in this auction...great book for investment.
  15. Greg has published a lot of information about the early marvel sliver age superhero creation process..in his publications and I asked him how he did and get like the unpublished cover to AF15 by Ditko and he just smiled...great guy...RIP
  16. Two great Carl Barks paintings coming to the market...Uncle Scrooge barks cover to the Uncle Scrooge Mcduck classic hardcover book, and this paintings is outstanding as I have seen it in real life and was at the auction when it sold from Kirby Cofer. Second is the oversized " Menace out of the Myths " which is a another stunner in real life. There is a third oil called the The Wadfather.
  17. I believe that the painting that he bought from Carl Barks was " Menace of the Myths " and its is going to auction at ha.com May 16...RIP
  18. Ha sold over 32 million dollars worth of comics last year....I would assume that would be a top number in the business so I would say Ha.com number one based on client base and superior website and $$ worth of sales with CC coming in a close second.
