  1. My very first comic and the book that started a life long obsession loved the lead story with the Atom going inside Batman's body to save his life. Great Reprints as well. It was like a comic book primer! Love everything about that book, thanks for posting the image (thumbs u
  2. IMHO, the only reason his cartoon/comic book images were ever popular was so a few wealthy intellectuals could talk at cocktail parties about how Lichtenstein is a genius dahling, see how he deconstructs the childish medium of comic books whilst showing such naive and raw understanding of the very nature of irony, blah, blah, blah. Strictly emperor's new clothes!
  3. Thanks for popping in, stay for a cup of tea next time
  4. According to John Romita in the huge 75 years of DC book by Paul Levitz there was serious consideration given to starting a class action against RL. Don't know why it didn't happen
  5. How does Lichtenstein differ from Rob Granito? Given the page rates that the artists who RL swiped from were on isn't he actually more of a dbag than Granito?
  6. The last great rush of youth by Mark Hodkinson. Great fiction about a band in the early eighties. Told in alternating flash forwards and back between the snotty kids starting their band and the lead singer as an ageing irrelevant rock star. Beautifully observed, funny and full of pathos.
  7. How many times on here have people said words to the effect of; "a comic is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it"? Well on this occasion a buyer was prepared to pay $30 for it. An offer was made and accepted. Also, in this age of Google and instant information, the seller should have done his due diligence and typed the 16 characters necessary into a search engine to discover what he had. He could'nt be bothered so he lost out. That's life. Doesn't sound as if the seller asked for more and the buyer beat him down. The ethics police on this one are beating a dead horse. Move on. Well done to the buyer.
  8. Thanks for bumping. I never knew this thread existed and hundred pagers are my favourite comics bar none. Going back to the start of this thread to read the whole thing. (thumbs u
  9. Very very nice! Where did you get them, if I may be so bold?
  10. We read Mice and Men at school when I was 14 or so, and I loved it. Read all of his books since. One of the few authors that I can read over and over again. I really like his non fiction too. Travels with Charley
  11. Hi all, I've been trying to track down a comic from my youth and haven't been able to find anything out via google, ebay etc. I'll try to describe it as best I can in the hope that one of you fine people might be able to I.d. It for me. Thanks in advance, here goes; It is an issue of the u.k. run of Korak (not sure of publisher), the cover was an image of Korak either fending off or entwined by a python or similar large snake. The comic is from the 70's. I'm not sure whether this series was a reprint of the Gold Key run, a reprint of a foreign (Spanish?) series or an original British comic. I am fairly certain that the cover at least was not from the Gold Key run. I left this comic on a train as a small child and would like to pick up a copy out of nostalgia. Also, I am curious as to the various u.k. Tarzan comics of the era, so if you have any info on this specific issue or bronze age u.k. Tarzan comics in general I would appreciate it. Thanks again.
  12. This thread is particularly on fire today!!!!! Great books one and all.
  13. Definitely carries a price premium. (you can cut me in for telling you about it)
  14. Isn't there a recalled version of that Cap slipcase? Something to do with a naked Bucky panel or some such ? Pretty sure my LCS had one once
  15. The longer you look at that thing the worse it gets
  16. Great score, but you better make sure that 'Tec 109 doesn't have Comicdonna's Action interior inside it
  17. Said it before and I'll say it again; as someone who can't draw worth a damn I am in awe of you guys and your work. Keep em coming
  18. What a great haul! Love your eclectic taste, you have hours of enjoyment ahead of you with those books, congrats
