  1. which books? It wasn't me It was for a Planet #23 CGC 7.5 and Planet #24 CGC 5.5. I thought they went for a pretty high price on both counts. I think they went for $900 and $800 respectively. Warmest Regards, Jason
  2. OK, who outbid me on those two Planets last evening on Comiclink, you know you are crushing my dreams of completion of this run of books
  3. I purchased a small grouping of books from Roger. Roger was a real pleasure to deal with and great with communication that made the entire transaction as smooth as silk. I welcome any future deals with him.
  4. Thanks for the nice compliments everyone. The pic they had up on their website was pretty fuzzy and low resolution (that's how I initially found the book), when I saw it in person, it looked much better and decided to pick it up immediately once we agreed on a price.
  5. Picked this issue up at a local comics shop that had it on layaway for me. Sorry for the mediocre phone pics, best I can do at the moment. Cheers Jason
  6. Nice, maybe it's time I start things in motion to build my own comic room!
  7. Aaron purchased a grouping of books from my sales thread. Communication was top notch, he paid lightning fast and was an all around great person to deal with. I would welcome another transaction with him anytime. Jason
  8. That's one of the more gruesome FH covers I have seen!
  9. I find those three books #13, #14 and #15 seem to come in small waves. One will come to market, followed by one or two within 6 months to a year then a pause for however long. I have not seen a #13 in a while, I think there was one about a year ago, but cant recall. Fortunately for me, I acquired a very decent mid grade #13 a number of years ago.
  10. Yes, the higher prices seem to be bringing more issues out from collections these days.
  11. $2,950 Wow, glad I was able to grab the one recently sold at HA. It must have been a long period of extended bidding I am thinking. Actually no. The bidding exploded after I put in my slightly more modest bid - and it got to the closing amount before any extended bidding. I get the impression that this book may be one of those things that I regret not picking up years ago. Interesting outcome on that book. I know of at least a half dozen folks here on the boards who are chasing this run with some regularity/focus. I am sure there will be more who are not forum members. I love this run and it will be interesting to see if the price growth is something that will sustain itself over the upcoming years, or whether it will slow down after collectors start filling their vacancies in their runs. Some of the prices on the lower grade issues seem to have gotten a bit softer over the last year in my opinion. EDIT - at least in the middle and later issues. Earlier examples seem to have risen significantly in value in all grades.
  12. $2,950 Wow, glad I was able to grab the one recently sold at HA. It must have been a long period of extended bidding I am thinking. Cheers and thanks! Jason
  13. Anyone see what the CommicConnect Planet Comics #14 closed at last night? I got tied up and could not watch the auction.
  14. Although I agree in principal, it can also work in your favor if two bidders each put in a large proxy bid prior to hitting the sack.
  15. Home stretch now. Going to also send in several raw issues I have for grading as well.
  16. Added a few more Planets to my run over the last few weeks!
  17. Haha, whoever it was just gave a grunt of disapproval. It makes me laugh even ten years later. Jason
  18. A quick story from a comic con some years ago. I asked to look at a Golden Age book off of the dealers wall rack (I cant recall which one). A beetle had gotten in to the bag, chewed several small holes through the book, left some excrement by the holes and died (it was still in the bag). I pointed out this to the dealer and perhaps he should lower his asking price on the book given the damage. He snapped back at me that the book had already been priced with the damage being taken in to account. I told him it was very generous of him to include the dead beetle and its excrement as part of the price, handed him back the book and moved along to another booth.
  19. Terrific buyer, easy to deal with and great communication! Hope to do more deals with you in the future! Warmest Regards, Jason
  20. I have to say I am surprised at the splitting of the votes in the poll and the comments on the thread. Although I sit in the Marvel 1 camp (I think Cap 1 is a great book also), I thought for sure more folks would lean towards Cap 1 because of its stronger connection to current trends and being a current popular character. If this question was posed in comics general, I have a feeling that many more folks would have chosen Cap 1 instead of being split down the middle.
  21. Marvel 1 for me. Both are great books, I just think Marvel 1 is the start of a legacy broader in scope than Cap 1
  22. I would have been battling you had I seen it. Tough book. I was lucky I stumbled across it at their auction as I don't normally participate in their auctions or cruise their site on a regular basis.
  23. Here is the Planet #15. Centerfold is detached and it's missing the bottom staple, but it is complete.
