  1. It seemed hard for me to find a nice copy of this one.
  2. Opinions needed - Weird Science 14 trimmed or not? I just received this nice looking Weird Science #14. In hand, I can see that it has been pressed before. On the BC, there were color breaking creases that are very nicely pressed out & flat leaving the color breaks as "scratches" on the BC. The pressing was not disclosed but I am ok with that. My concern is that it looks like it has been trimmed on the top & right edges of the book and the interior pages. Both edges and the pages seem extremely sharp. However, on the front cover, the edge just above the right circular EC logo has a small "hump". This looks like the cut was not perfect and needed to be started over. This "hump is evident on all the interior pages as well. Also, the book is not "square". Both top & right edges appear to "taper". The top edge tapers downhill toward the upper right corner and the right edge tapers inward towards the bottom right corner. I have decided that it has been trimmed but would like an extra pair of eyes or two to confirm or point out anything that I may not be seeing or misinterpreting. I have scanned the FC & BC with a white backing board inserted behind each in order to help eliminate the shadows and thereby see the edges more clearly. Thanks in advance for any input!
  3. Nows that's a great looking #1!! Congrats!
  4. That looks like a printing defect, a printer's crease. I don't think that it is counted against you.
  5. Very nice! I too have noticed the higher prices on higher grade books. BTW, have you ever noticed that the lettering in orange on Vampirella #4 can sometimes be pink instead of orange?
  6. Unfortunately, that scanner has CIS scanning technology which is not good for scanning slabs. It cannot scan to the needed depth so images are blurred. Most all new scanners and multifunction machines have CIS as it is cheaper. Specs: https://www.cnet.com/products/hp-officejet-j6480-series/specs/ You need a scanner that has CCD technology which is usually older equipment although manufacturers are still making units with this technology. I just got an Epson GT-15000 and it is fantastic. Ebay used for about $300. Sorry. Good luck!
  7. PGM Incredible Science Fiction #32 One more from the set I just got. Off white pages, complete, no missing pieces, etc. Thanks again!
  8. PGM Incredible Science Fiction #31 Pages are off white. No missing pieces or pages. Thank you!
  9. PGM Incredible Science Fiction #30 Just got these and a couple of others. Pages are off white, complete. Thanks!
  10. Yes, I bought it with two other direct editions. I have since sold the other direct copies which were 8.0 and a 9.0 raw.
  11. Yeah, if they are at least in GD shape then I would be interested in those older issues. I don't collect coverless myself.
  12. An interesting haul! Your pictures are a bid hard for me to view but just looking at the "unusual", older books, I think he might be talking about the "Strange Tales Of The Unusual" #5 which is listed in Overstreet #46 as NM- for $410, GD $31. There is also: Journey Into Unknown Worlds #42 NM- $375, GD $28 Tom Corbett Space Cadet #10 NM- $125, GD $7 Astonishing #48 NM- $300, GD $22 Astonishing #63 NM- $310, GD $23 There might be other items but these 5 caught my interest/eye. Hope this has helped!
  13. Thanks to everyone contributing to this thread. I purchased the Epson GT-15000 off ebay after reading and rereading this thread for recommendations. A great scanner for $300 and am using Vuescan Pro. I can now scan my mags as well.
  14. I wish I had a copy. Price and put it up for sale on the boards whenever you are ready!
  15. Wow! Some real nice books! That Creepy 51 especially pops for me.
  16. I am not an expert on the subject so please do post in the magazine forum where other more experienced members can comment. The magazine forum had an old thread or two about this book. With the changeover to the new format, it seems that I can't locate the old thread. The book you purchased is not an original. The original did not have the man's head visible in the panel mentioned and it did not have blue striped staples. This is a "2nd" or other copy. I did find this in one thread that should help. Eerie #1 discussion.
