  1. Excellent thread! Have been a fan of the FLASH for a long time! mm
  2. It has a great 12-page Cap story with the Return of Red Skull... plus one of my all time favorites The Destroyer. There is also a full page message from the Cap "...to bundle newspapers and magazines before turning them over for the waste paper drive." But as I said, it's in rough shape...the front cover is separated from the back cover, there are pieces missing from the cover and the pages are brittle...unfortunately it didn't age as well as my other books. This would be a good candidate for restoration! mm
  3. The ALL-WINNERS #4 scan looks a lot better than mine. I also have a ALL-WINNERS #12 that's in really rough shape. mm
  4. Thanks all...now I'm waiting to see what my ALL WINNERS #4 and COMIC CAVALCADE #12 will do...they have sure moved around a lot since I first bought them off the newsstand. mm
  5. Surprise...armed with my STAPLES Gift Card and about to order a Epson Perfection V33 Flat Bed Scanner, when I'm notified, "Currently Out Of Stock". mm
  6. Thanks! SHOCK SUSPENSTORIES #6 came back 7.5 and SPIRIT #22 came back a 6.5... the STUNTMAN COMICS were both 5.0. mm
  7. Low and behold it appears Santa has left me a gift certificate good at STAPLES for a scanner! mm
  8. It looks like I'll be able to register my STUNTMAN #1 and #2 as a set soon...only about 30 titles ahead of me on the list. mm
  9. The more I dig into my collection the more I find I had forgotten, like a 1948 "50th Anniversary Issue of The CAPTAIN AND THE KIDS" by Rudolph Dirks, that contains a two page history of the comic strip and an account of the Supreme Court Decision. Along with it I have a copy of FEATURE BOOK #41 "THE KATZENJAMMER KIDS" with a photo & brief bio of Harold H. Knerr. mm
  10. And in '45 it only cost a penny to send a post card. mm
  11. I also ran across a coverless ACTION #83...with the intro of Hocus & Pocus. In the last panel of the story it stated "If you liked Hocus & Pocus, and would like to see more of them, drop a postcard to- Superman, 480 Lexington Ave., NYC." I wonder how many cards they received? mm
  12. While going through my collection of damaged books I came across two I forgot about...GRAND SLAM 3 ACES #45 & #50 from 1945 & 1946. They appear to have been printed in Canada but they have a full page of items you can order from the CAPTAIN MARVEL CLUB. mm
  13. Once I start posting my collection, you'll be begging me to stop! mm
  14. Great looking MARVEL FAMILY #1...my copy is CGC Graded at 3.0. Need to have #'s 4, 5 7 8 graded one of these days. mm
  15. SCRIBBLY #8...November/December 1949 has a great half-page ad for "The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet" #1..."America's Favorite RADIO Family". I think it only ran for 5 issues and as far as I know DC never picked up the title when they went to TV. mm
  16. Four Color #157 "MICKEY MOUSE AND THE BEANSTALK" is one of my favorites along with Four Color #116 "MICKEY MOUSE AND THE HOUSE OF MANY MYSTERIES". I used to find most of my Four Color Books at my local W.T. Grants store...didn't see too many on the newsstands. mm
  17. Just checked my CLASSIC COMIC #13 "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". Inside the back cover the list runs to #15 "Uncle Tom's Cabin". The back cover shows the Gift Boxes for 50 cents each, postage included, with 5 books in a box, #'s 1 through 15. I bought my copy off the newsstand in 1943 or 1944...still in pretty good shape. mm
  18. No oversized ones, but I do have FEATURE BOOK #48 "The Maltese Falcon" with Sam Spade and FEATURE BOOK #49 "Perry Mason & The Case Of The Lucky Legs". No pulps, I would look at them on the newsstand, but when it came to spending my dime...it was always comics. As far as "Land Of The Lost", I listened to it every Saturday on radio,,,the main character "Red Lantern" as I remember, was played by a young Art Carney. I do have a 48 page Walt Disney Paint Book with the numbers 627 & 2055 on the cover. It's a whitman with a copyright date of 1939...but no publication date. It's never been colored and has some really nice drawings of Mickey, Donald, etc. mm
  19. Happy to see that SCRIBBLY COMICS have been added to the Registry, I have #'s 1, 2, 4, 6 & 8 which I will probably have graded in the future. Always enjoyed Sheldon Mayer's work on SCRIBBLY "King Of All Cartoonists" whose last name was JIBBET. mm
  20. While going through my damaged books I found a remaindered copy of STAR SPANGLED WAR STORIES #3 November '52... would that be considered GA? If so, what number would begin the SA run? mm
  21. Yes...up until early '54...still have quite a few. I just had a Shock SuspenseStories #6 graded at 7.5 with #'s 7 & 8 yet to be sent for grading in the near future. Along with the intact ones I have, I also have a dozen or so remainder copies I picked up in the early '50's for a nickel each. But long before the '50's I was buying EC's like LAND OF THE LOST #1 & #2 and PICTURE STORIES FROM AMERICAN HISTORY #1 & #2. mm
  22. Two of my books that I might consider having graded sometime are Siegel & Shuster's FUNNYMAN #1 & #2. I picked these up in 1948 from a corner store in Scranton, PA. They use to hang the books on a line with clothes pins in the window. I never see any interest in FUNNYMAN...but I always enjoyed them. mm
  23. Thanks...my son is working on getting me set up. mm
  24. It wasn't always easy to hold onto them...as a matter of fact, somewhere over the years I lost a box...I know because I have been unable to locate some books I remember having, like Will Eisner's 1949 BASEBALL COMICS with Rube Rooky. mm
