  1. Thanks...I'll keep you in mind should I ever plan to sell it. mm
  2. Under closer examination, my CAP 64 has a slightly rusty staple and a detached centerfold...probably won't grade that well after all...might have to reconsider. mm
  3. Thanks for asking...I would really like to be able to show my collection and I am really working on it. mm
  4. After the above two I need to decide which ones to send in for grading. The choice is between BATMAN #48...ALL-STAR #40 ...TERRY-TOONS #38 ...or, CAPTAIN AMERICA #64...all should come in between 6.0 and 7.0...any ideas? mm
  5. Number 4 is the first comic book I bought off the newsstand in Philadelphia. I also have an #12 I bought in 1944. mm
  6. I have a 12-cent Dell COMBAT #13 (July/September 1964). Is this considered Bronze or Silver age? mm
  7. No I'm not planning to sell right now after having my books for nearly 70 years...but I do want to get the better condition ones in my collection graded for the future. Thanks for asking. mm
  8. Next up for grading ALL WINNERS #4 and COMIC CAVALCADE #12. After that I'm not sure...I had planned to send in CAPTAIN MARVEL ADVENTURES #54 for grading, but I've changed my mind. I have 8 other FLASH COMICS that I might consider...but then there are others that are also my favorites. mm
  9. My GRADES are in! FLASH COMICS #97 Universal 7.0 Off-White to White FOUR COLOR #159 Universal 5.0 Off-White to White mm
  10. Can only find one PRIZE COMIC in my collection, #27 from January, 1943. The FRANKENSTEIN story has a tease at the end: :An old friend returns... Bulldog Denny...to pit his resources against the Monster. What can he do? He'll be here next issue." Anyone know if Bulldog Denny "...stopped the monster"? Really good stuff in PRIZE COMICS, I don't know why I only bought this one. mm
  11. Still no grades...should see them next week. While going through my collection I ran across my copies of Briefer's FRANKENSTEIN, #'s 1 through #6. I always thought this was a very amusing comic character. Doesn't seem to be much interest in it nowadays. mm
  12. Thanks for asking...I'm looking at it right now. mm
  13. I see there are only three (3) PEP COMICS #60 graded... guess not too much interest in it. mm
  14. While waiting for the above to be graded before sending in my next group of two, I read an article in the November issue of Comics Buyer's Guide by Michelle Nolan "The Great Golden Age Transition". It talks about PEP #60 being the last Golden Age Adventure of The BLACK HOOD and the beginning run of KATY KEENE. What it didn't mention is that my name appears inside the front cover as a contest winner of a FREE COPY OF PEP COMICS... I received issue #62. mm
  15. FLASH COMICS #97 & FOUR-COLOR #159 still in "Verified". As I go about selecting what to have graded it becomes more and more of a challenge to decide which books should be next. I'm trying to select those that were my favorites over the years and I keep finding there were more "favorites" than I thought...like SPIRIT #2 "Crime Doesn't Pay" and PLASTIC MAN #2 "The Gay Nineties Nightmare" or FOUR-COLOR #105 "ALBERT THE ALLIGATOR & POGO POSSUM". Whatever I do, it sure is a lot of fun going through my books...I keep finding ones I had forgotten. mm
  16. We went to a local Comic Book Show and were surprised to see all the long boxes filled with comic books in plastic bags and even more surprised to see how much they were getting for them. One dealer suggested we buy a copy of "The Comic Book Price Guide", which we did for $7.50...issue #6 from 1977 with The Spirit on the cover. We went home and began making a list of what I had in the boxes. mm I just took a look at the #6 Price Guide and it lists ACTION #1 in mint condition valued at $4,200.00...a lot of money then! mm
  17. I stopped in '54 when I went into the Navy and picked-up again in the 70's when my sons became interested in what I had packed away in boxes. mm
  18. Planning ahead...after the above have been graded I plan to send in my CAPTAIN MARVEL ADVENTURES #54 from February 1946. This was during the period when Fawcett was publishing this Comic every other Friday and boasted "Largest Circulation Of Any Comic Magazine." right on the cover. Number 54 has "68 pages in Full Color!" ( 64 pages plus covers). It also features the story of Radio Station WHIZ going into TV. This book also has very thick, heavy covers which keep it flat. I have quite a few CAPTAIN MARVEL ADVENTURES because my parents gave me a subscription to it for Christmas along with one to LOONEY TUNES & MERRIE MELODIES. mm
  19. Along with ALL WINNERS #4 I plan to submit COMIC CAVALCADE #12. This Fall Issue from 1945 was the first 15 cent comic I ever purchased. There is a great ad in it for the "Hop Harrigan All-American Flying Club" that includes a membership card, sew-on emblem, U.S. Army stickers, genuine baggage labels (from big commercial airways) and a privilege card that entitles you to belong to the American Observation Corps. all for only 10-cents. mm
