  1. I've decided that one of my next two books submitted for grading will be the first one I ever bought off the newsstand, ALL WINNERS #4...with a truly great cover. mm
  2. Thanks! So far I have FLASH #75 graded at 6.5...#98 at 5.5 and #104 at 4.0. I expect for #97 to be between 6.0 to 7.5. mm
  3. My FLASH #97 is off for grading and my #93 will be next. mm
  4. What about mid-grade books like: KO KOMICS #1 EERIE #4 ATOMAN #1 ATOMIC THUNDERBOLT #1 JUNIOR #9 MAD HATTER #1 HAUNT OF FEAR #15 ...is there value in having them graded? mm
  5. After I submit FLASH #97 and FOUR COLOR #159 next Wednesday I have to think about what the next two will be. It's becoming more and more difficult to select and decide which books to choose. I don't know if I should continue with my favorites from over the years or select those in the best condition or pick those that have the most potential value...or go for building sets. Whatever... it's still a lot of fun! mm
  6. After thinking about it, I'm going to change my next submission. Instead of WONDER WOMAN #20 I plan to send in my DELL FOUR COLOR #159..."DONALD DUCK IN THE GHOST OF THE GROTTO"...it's one that I always enjoyed and almost forgot I had. mm
  7. Back from vacation and the grades are in! SPIRIT #22- Universal 6.5 Off-White to White SHOCK SUSPENSTORIES #6- Universal 7.5 Off-White to White Just about what I expected. mm
  8. Still in "verified"...looks like I'll have to wait for the grades until I get back from vacation on the 28th of August. mm
  9. Still in "verified"! Holding off sending FLASH #97 & WONDER WOMEN #20 until I get grades on SPIRIT & SHOCK SUSPENSTORIES. mm
  10. STUNTMAN #1 on it's way back to CGC to have the label corrected. SPIRIT #22 still in "verified". mm
  11. In regard to the STUNTMAN origin...it has been confirmed by CGC that STUNTMAN #1 is the actual ORIGIN ISSUE! Even the certification information has been changed to reflect "Origin of Stuntman". mm
  12. Great looking book!!!...mine came back at 5.0, but with off-white to white pages. mm
  13. Still no reply from CGC on STUNTMAN #1 "origin retold" issue. SPIRIT #22 & SHOCK SUSPENSTORIES #6 finally received at CGC and Verified! Next two on the list FLASH COMICS #97 & WONDER WOMAN #20 getting ready to be shipped. mm
  14. STUNTMAN #1 & #2 have arrived and look great! Note on #1 states "Origin of Stuntman retold". According to HERITAGE..."The CGC slab incorrectly says "Origin Retold"; this is actually the first origin of the character and his first appearance.". Anyone know who is correct? mm
  15. The cover of SPIRIT #21 with P'gell of Paris is pretty good too ...unfortunately I only have a remainder copy of it...but the book is intact. mm
  16. Thanks...now while I'm waiting for my SPIRIT #22 and SHOCK SUSPENSESTORIES #6 to be graded I have to figure out what the next two I send in will be...maybe my ADVENTURE COMICS #94 (Oct/Nov '44) with the terrific SANDMAN & SANDY caught in the camera lens cover...always loved that one...talking about jumping off the newsstand. Or, maybe something like KO KOMICS #1 or... I might send in two of my FOUR COLOR's like #129 & #159 they're still in pretty good shape. mm
  17. I bought them both at a newsstand on Bloomfield Avenue in Newark, NJ. There was something about the Simon & Kirby covers that made them standout from the other books on the rack. I looked every month after for issue #3..but it never showed up. These two have always been my favorites! mm
  18. If I ever let it go you'll be the first to know! mm
  19. Thanks for asking. I remember the paper drives...even went around and collected papers for a weekly pick-up...but never saw one comic book in the lot. I do remember some of the newsstands putting the EC's Crime and Horror comics up high so they wouldn't be easy for kids to reach. I do wish I had bought two copies of a lot of books...but then who had the money? By 1954 I had stopped collecting and really didn't start again until the '70's with my sons. mm
  20. Thanks...sooner or later I'll get them scanned & posted. mm
  21. Surprise...grades earlier than expected. STUNTMAN #1- 5.0 Off-White to White STUNTMAN #2- 5.0 Off-White to White Not bad at all for 66 year old books. mm
  22. We are now in "Scheduled for grading"...should be done by 7/26. The next thing I need to work on is to see if they will list a Registry Set for a run of 3 books. I requested it but no answer yet...I know they have been busy...I'm in no real hurry...we'll see what happens. mm
  23. Still in verified. Will send SPIRIT #22 & SHOCKSUSPENSE STORIES #6 off tomorrow. mm
