  1. Started in '42 with ALL-WINNERS #4 through '54 with WEIRD SCIENCE-FANTASY #26. mm
  2. Thanks for asking! Now that I'm getting them graded, little by little, I'm afraid they'll stay in the family for awhile. Just sent off my ALL-STAR #38 ('48), CAPTAIN AMERICA #60 ('47) and FLASH COMICS #98 ('48)...I'll let you know how they grade. mm
  3. That's why I take my grandchildren with me to the Comic Stores...don't want to look too out of place. mm
  4. Do you know if the covers shown on the newstand on BATMAN #199 are copies of real issues? mm
  5. In my copy of STRANGE ADVENTURES #208 from January '68 there is an ad for the February '69 issue of BATMAN COMICS #199 with a cover featuring Batman trying to buy a copy of his own comic book. This is one I've never seen! mm
  6. 77...began collecting in 1942. Still have most of them. mm
  7. Would you consider a Four Color FLASH GORDON #190 "The Adventures of the Flying Saucers" Golden Age Sci-Fi ? mm
  8. That means I probably have the oldest private collection, comics I bought off the newstand between '42 and '54...wow! mm
  9. Please...don't tell me at 77 I'm the oldest guy here! mm
  10. It was in the mid to late '60's that I first realized my cardboard boxes of comics in the garage were worth more than the dime I paid for them...their value to me were the hours of escapism reading pleasure they provided me. mm
  11. The hardest thing I remember about buying comics in the '40's was making the decision to spend my dime on this month's BATMAN or SUPERMAN or to pick-up a STUNTMAN #1 or SUPERBOY #1 or MARVEL FAMILY #1 (I was already getting CAPTAIN MARVEL ADVENTURES through the mail)...it was a tough world! mm
  12. Collected from '42 to '54 when I went into the Navy. Started again in the early '70's with my sons...& now with my Grandson. Still have most of what I bought in the '40's & '50's...my sons have everything from the '70's. Most of my books came from Newark, NJ & Scranton,PA. mm
  13. 77...got my first comic in '42..."ALL WINNERS #4"...still have it! mm
  14. Going through some stuff and found some catalogs from 1980-81 from the PASSAIC BOOK CENTER on Main Avenue, Passaic, NJ. There was a period when I bought a lot of books from there...even went there once. Wondered how many others had the same pleasure of buying from them. mm
  15. I'll add #150...the Bat-Signal is great, but the silhouettes of BATMAN & ROBIN are lame. mm
  16. Still wondering if anyone is interested in STAR HAWKS newspaper strip? mm
  17. Just got my DETECTIVE #108...graded at 4.0...next I'll submit DETECTIVE #164... going for a "Bat-Signal" theme. mm
  18. Around 500 that I collected between 1942 and 1952. I have two in the process of being graded...Detective #108 (02/46) and All-American #100 (08/46) Let's see how this works out before I go for my big ones. mm
  19. I don't know if this is the right place to ask...but is anyone interested in the STAR HAWKS newspaper strip by Gil Kane & Ron Goulart? The strip began on October 3rd, 1977. I have what I believe to be a complete run from 10/3/77 to 5/27/78. Any interest out there for newspaper strips. mm
